Chelsea flop Andriy Shevchenko has been given permission to return to Milan, reports in England are suggesting.

The Ukrainian, who joined the Blues last year in a £30m summer move, has struggled to adapt to his new life in the Premiership and has been constantly linked with a return.

Now the Sun newspaper claims that a deal could be done for the striker, who has scored just four League goals this term.

Shevchenko is scheduled to meet Milan officials in Athens this week, where he will be a guest of President Silvio Berlusconi for the Champions League Final with Liverpool.

The forward, who had recently stated that he wanted to silence his critics in London, has allegedly asked Chelsea patron Roman Abramovich permission to leave.

The striker’s request was understood to be motivated by the club’s decision to confirm boss Jose Mourinho, whose strained relationship with the former Rossoneri ace has never been a secret.

Abramovich is ready to release Sheva with Chelsea expected to ask for a cash-plus-player deal as opposed to Milan’s request for him to join them on loan.

However, the Via Turati outfit may consider offering £12m and including Georgian defender Kakha Kaladze in the operation.

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon had stated on Sunday that Shevchenko and Michael Ballack would not be sold.

“It’s not going to happen. We brought both these players in for three, four years,” he said. “We didn’t bring them in for a season and we knew fully well what their capabilities are.

“I’m confident they are going to be here as big players with Chelsea next season. They feel they have a lot more to give as it takes time to settle in.”

I know what he done was wrong, but married life is different you have to make choices which would make not just you but also your other half happy. If thats what she wanted I dont think he had much of an option than to agree, however if both of them know their mistakes then I dont see a reason why we shouldnt have them back.

Sheva can stay where he is at. I love Sheva like all Milan greats but his return could be detrimental to the team. With Ronaldo coming to the fore, Inzaghi still banging them in and Gila about show his true worth. Let Sheva stay at Stamford Bridge, we don't need him and he will come good for Chelsea fans.

As tonight proved, we didn't need No. 7 to win No. 7. We don't need him and golddigger Kristen back. If he loved us enough that he wanted to stay, he would've grown a pair and done what it took to stay in a Milan uniform. He made his bed and now he has to lie in it.

Andriy Shevchenko’s agent may say he has no intention of returning to Milan, but a more important figure says otherwise – wife Kristen Pazik.

The American model was widely believed to be the reason why he moved to Chelsea last summer, as she wanted to be in an English-speaking city to raise their children.


“We feel at home in Italy and I think Andriy would build a great partnership with Ronaldo, who is one of my favourite players,” she told ‘Chi’ magazine.


“My husband is my other half and it is important for me that he is happy. He has to play where it is best for him.


“In my country they say home is where the heart is – and Italy is a home for us, far more so than London.”


One of the reasons given for Shevchenko’s failure to settle at Stamford Bridge has been his trouble with the different language and culture after seven years in Milan.


The Ukrainian hitman has flown out to Athens for tonight’s Final as a guest of his former club, cheering them on as they meet Liverpool.


“I will be following the game with the desire for revenge after that defeat two years ago I still cannot explain,” said Mr Shevchenko.


“I still support Milan for my teammates, the club, the President and for myself. I think that Milan need to avenge all of us who played in Istanbul.”
