guys, there is still a way for Milan to be in European competition...

with all these position adjustments, now Empoli is qualified for UEFA cup... but their stadium is not big enough to meet UEFA standard... so, they have to play somewhere else, or give up their position to the next team in the table...

And that team, even with the -44 points, is Milan...

In any case, we'll fight till the end. The verdict is unacceptable.

p.s.: Warro are you studying for GRE?
Is the GRE some kind of post grad access platform? Honesly, I have just had a quarter of rum with an old high-school chum of mine from Jamaica, whom I just happened to run into at the airport in Costa Rica...so I am not thinking so clearly right now..I am also about to get some fresh air, and maybe another quarter (still have a half of a 2L coke bottle to finish, and all the ice in the world)...so I am not thinking so clearly right now..if it is, then no, but I need to, as my BSc isnt enough based on my ambitions (what are they..[to quote the Brain]...the same as always Pinky...to take over the world!)

Thanks for the update Maltese Charlie...and while the UEFA Cup is better than nothing, its not good enough to attract top talent...

Flubio, if what Kaka has been quoted as saying is true, then he can leave Milan for all I care...this scandal, may very well turn out to be the best thing that has ever happened to Milan, as we will be able to eliminate those who just want to play for us for the money, as opposed to those who want to play for the shirt..

In today´s world of mercenary footballers, this may be a big ask...but we are a big club, and deserve, (based on what they can earn) players of the highest calibre, not only in terms of playing skills, but also in terms of honor, honesty and allegiance...if Kaka isnt loyal enough (at his age, he really can afford to be) then he can, with Sheva, go play for money alone...I want players who want to play for the shirt...Gattuso, overnight, has become my favourite Milan player, apart from the legends.

Verdict on Milan, Lazio & Fiorentina was surely unfair. Milan where only accused of articile 1 YET WE PAY on the last season and for the upcoming. We got stolen from 2 Scudettos and now they steal our Champions League place which we gained legally and compromise our next Serie A campain by deducting 15 point. On that we can recover cuz this season we came 12 points above inter. Our sentence was truly politic, and another confirmation of that is that from this season we got -44 points so to exclude us from European competitions but Rossi, Borrelli and Ruperto (communists and anti berlusconi) forgot that Empoli don't have the UEFA lisence so Milan are in the UEFA cup!!! LOL

We must demonstrate our innocence even by going at the national court, our name and image counts much more at the moment. We should be assolved from these accusations because we where stolen from 2 leagues in the last 2 seasons.

For me, either you are guilty or you are not. These sentences handed out to Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina does not make any sense. How can we, as the only team, stay in Serie A ??? Further on we are deducted points ?? Makes no sense to me.
So I agree with Franco6 - we have to go to the National court - or like Lazio go to the European court to get our name cleared... The evidence against us is VERY VERY thin, so tonights rulings is really difficult to take!!
I just hope that there will be another ruling in 10 days time..!

Cons
1. If things go badly, and the appeal is denied, it means no UCL for 2 seasons. Overcoming 15 points deficit is not a laughing matter.

we finished 19 points above Roma in 5th place, I would still expect us to claim 3rd even with a 15 point deficit. Who, realistically, will step up to be a top 4 club apart from Roma and Inter? Palermo are the next best team and I would expect us to get 15 points more than them this season if we started from scratch.

Still, we must appeal, this punishment is ridiculous, the evidence against us was pitiful and we were in no way connected to Moggi. I'd expect us to be in the top 6 by Christmas though, whatever happens, and we will play CL football next year, however I doubt we will play this year unless all charges are dropped.

Also, we should sell no one unless we get insane money and in that case we should use the money to buy young promising players. After all Chivu, Oddo, Suazo, Torres, are all transfer targets that are not playing CL football next year, but at least they know in Milan they will be better paid, better supported and defiently be in next year.

Chivu will play CL for Roma... There are a lot of options for Torres to play for a team in the CL, but Oddo and Suazo would be happy to come to Milan I think. When that is said, everyone can be tempted by Berlusconi's wallet...

good point about Chivu forgot about that. but he had pledged his future to Roma without the guarantee of CL football so the idea that it is the sole drive for every player is wrong. Especially as we can pretty much guarantee it within a year.

Warro, both Gattuso and Gilardino have said that they will stay no matter what... and this is quoted in several websites including acmilan.com

Calciopoli: Trio relegated, Milan survive

FROM CHANNEL4 NEWS:

Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina have been demoted to Serie B for their involvement in the Calciopoli scandal, but Milan have survived the drop.

The eagerly anticipated match-fixing verdicts were finally delivered this evening after seven days of deliberation by the CAF court.

Juventus have been stripped of their last two Serie A titles, sent down to Serie B and will start the new campaign with a 30 point deduction.

Lazio and Fiorentina have also been stripped of their Serie A status and will start with minus seven and minus 12 points respectively.

Milan have kept their place in Serie A but have been deducted 44 points from last season’s tally which means they will not be allowed to enter the Champions League.

The Rossoneri will also start the 2006-07 campaign with a 15 point deduction in the First Division.

Although this evening’s verdicts are strict, they are lighter than the ones called for by the FIGC prosecution team.

Stefano Palazzi had called for Juventus, at the centre of the scandal, to be relegated to a Division “lower than Serie B” and deducted six points.

He also urged the court to relegate the three other teams to Serie B with a 15-point deduction for Fiorentina and Lazio, but declared that Milan should only be docked three points.

All the teams involved do have the right to appeal.

This is some b******t. This is not only bad for Milan, but this is bad for Serie A and world soccer. Not having Juventus and Fiorentina in Serie A will just decline the quality of Calcio in Italy. I'm just amazed at how many people are "happy" of Juventus being relegated. C'mon, that kind of attitude is for losers. Do I have to spell out

We find ourselves in a terrible situation. We shouldn't sell any of our star players because even without reiforcments the current squad is capable of securing a CL spot by the end of the season. We don't want things to mess up more. I don't see us mounting a challenge without Kaka and Sheva. Not playing in the CL is terrible but we can live with it. I remember we won the league in 1999 without playing in the CL that season and our squad was still full of great players.

Snapping up Suazo and Oddo should be good enough for the transition period of next season. Bringing in right-back is a must because Cafu is past his prime and no longer capable. Suazo should provide a good reinforcement in attack.

this punishment is ridiculous like i said, the whole panel of judges are berluscloni's enemies so what do you expect? whatever it is, take it to courts.

Guys and gals the news just gets bleaker! I just watched a Sky Sport Report with Kevin Buckley, an Italian Football writer, reporting that; Guido Rossi, the head guy, met with UEFA and FIFA officials during the World Cup.
And in the meeting, UEFA and FIFA were made aware that the decisions made today will be final, regardless of any appeals. The reporter added that reversal or lesser sentences were not forthcoming.
So guys and gals, it simply Serie A, next season.
I was down after hearing the news, but we can still win Serie A next season.
Forza Milan, we'll be back!

I doubt the appeals depend on Rossi or any of the courts involved up to this point - that's the whole point of an appeal - to take matters to a higher court, which could overrule the current decision. Let's wait and see, until the appeals are forwarded and considered, no decision is truely final, although most of the time the initial verdict is upheld by the higher court.
