Dzeko is only needed if we sell huntelaar. But even then, we also still own 50% of Paloschi, who I'd like to see here again!
We need FULLBACKS!!! And a good backup central defender, we all saw what a bad CD can do, with kaladze at the back we concede a lot. and yes we also need replacements for seedorf and pirlo... All this we need more than a striker, so for me Dzeko isnt really needed... |

OK, it's early to talk about Dzeko yet, because surely nothing will happen till summer.
We don't need just backup CB, we need backup CM or AM in January also. I think that Beckam will not fit in Pirlo's place, because, honestly, he's crap in defense. I hope he'll do well in Seedorf place, on the other hand. He was great in that position last year in the games (or the game) he played there and Leonardo will surely hesitate to change his system for Beckham to fit on the side. Someone mentioned him as a winger, and I don't think that's possible, because we don't play with wingers. Anyway, does anyone knows what's happening with Bonera? He's not listed as injured anymore. I really like Bonera, and when fully fit he can replace one of our CB. He was our best and most consistent defender in 2006/2007 season. |

Dzeko is Leo's 1st choice for a CF but I think he and the mgt will wait to see how Klaas performs until the end of the season and whether they want to renew Pippo's contract.

This is what I think:
Milan will sell Huntelaar in the summer unless he does something extreordinary thid year! Which will not happen since Huntelaar plays his best football with one CF next to him when the space opens for his finishing. His finishing is absolute world class and that is what makes him one of my fav CF's in today's football...so Im sad to see him on the bench. But since our team needs some power and raw phisique we are using Boriello well so far. But, Boriello will never have such class touch and fast thinking in the box as Hunter has. We see how even Pippo has problems playing as a CF in this sistem and Pippo is one of the best moving CF's in the history of football. Im hoping Milan will use Hunter well and that the man will not be proclamed as a dissapointment coz he is a great player. Beckham: He is a player that knows everything about football and can interpretate every role in midfield. The sistem will not change coz of him, do not be afraid. For sure he can play what Pirlo plays now, only on the right, as his defending is not that bad as people say. Also, the position Seedorf plays is a delicate one and the season is loooong... We have done well so far with the squad that has not rotated much, and in the 2nd part Beckham will help us a lot. Im also positive he can interpret a deeper version of Pato's position, with Pato playing on the left ( if Dinho is out). He will come usefull any way. He has serious work rate and is in better shape then last year. Plus, this team actually knows what they are doing on the field and we ondt have 5 players in 20m passing to each other and one on the other side ( Kaka' ) etc. Conclusion: Again I have to say what I always say: We cannot be happy and satisfied untill Milan is a team that is winning the scudetto and going for the CL. We havent won scudetto for 5 years, and we are now on -4 and have heavy games ahead of us. The team needs a lot of money to rebuilt. Galliani and Berlusconi do not deserve the results they got from Leonardo and the squad. Leo hismelf confirmed he was near the exit from Milan, when things started to go well vs Roma and Madrid... Galliani never planned this tactical setup or anything. It was chaos and nothing was sorted, nothing was planned, not even Leo was trusted. Milan never had a clear plan on how to use this team ( this 4-3-1-3 stuff...). Its a job done by Leonardo who clearly has talent to recognise details in players caracteristics and knows to use them well. He did 100% of what he could do with this squad. Nothing more can be done. Favalli does not play in front of Antonini, Pirlo is playing 2 times better then last year, Ambrosini also ( as he doesnt play LW as last year! ), Seedorf ( well...Im not happy ), Dinho is at his place and looks pretty motivated, Boriello is used at his full potential aldough he is a limited player etc. Yes, Leo has some luck with the super CB pairing he has, and we can play by pushing the backline up etc., but that is all. This setup was also dangerous, as we pushed Pato on the right, exposed the backline etc. Galliani is now saying how great this team is, how Antonini, abate are great, Dinho is super etc. Well Galliani, its not you to thank coz Milan plays well!!!! So go to hell and invest some money in Milan, coz Milan needs some players. Im disgusted by the way Galliani and Silvio are behaving, selling words again, buying "the best U20 player" for 1.5mln etc. We have a coach that is actually a world class scout, give him few players he asks for and they talk like you have something to do with success. Longer post, I know...just had to say it.

I cannot express my happiness in words now Carletto has left.Damn those matches under his time were boring! He played with one stiker and Kaka behind it,and the rest of the team was defending,we were creating three scoring chances in one game, and if we scored(which was always a ugly goal, penalty etc.)he brought in a defender to hang on on the 1-0 lead, even if we were playing in our own stadium. It was soooooooo frustrating to see,and sooo boring.
Now we are playing great attacking football, with more guys upfront,we play beatifull and the goals we scored are very nice! Its a relief compared to last year. |

Not that I would want to defend Ancelotti, as I always felt like he was a very defensive oriented coach as opposed to the balanced coach a lot of people think he is. But he had to use the whole midfield to play defense last year. Remember who our CBs were last year? We couldn't trust our CBs to defend, so we had to make sure the opposing side had less chances to shoot by using our entire midfield to disrupt their offense rather than running our own offense.

Anyway, I do not think Ancelotti is a very defensive oriented coach.
- He did not have a solid GK, and when he had, he won something. - He can not field his best CBs (Nesta + Maldini) for more than 50% matches a season. >>> so the midfileders must help in defense. - His attacking wingback pair Cafu + Serghino grew old, worn out. - When Sheva gone, there was no prolific and consistent CF in our squad. - Kaka's presence forced him play formation with CAM, because that is his best position, and he was the heart of team. When we had Kaka, we played no winger, Serghinho + Janku switched to LB, P.Foggia gone, Abate + Di Gennaro loaned, and of course, we bought no winger. That mean we relied and must rely on Kaka, who became non-consistent since 2007. >>> Best defense is good offense. Bad offense make defense suffered. What we have done is the best possible. So I think Carlo did his best. Respect him and wish him the best. Last edited by Aficio; 08-12-2009 at 13:46. |

We neither have Nesta nor Thiago Silva. We have the always unreliable Kaladze and a floating partner (e.g., Bonera, Maldini, Favalli etc.)
Actually, we can't even name two specific CB we have for last year. The year we won CL: We always have Nesta I think, and a good GK like Dida (old selves, though now he seems very comfortable with Nesta/Thiago in front). |

Perhaps now that we are through to the round of 16, we might see some movement in the transfer market. It is a huge boost financially to go through, I read that it adds at least around 20M euro's. I also remember rumours in the summer that any investment would happen when we'd secured qualification, although we'll see if theres something to that.
Anyways, I think the only thing that's holding this team back is the lack of depth. It seems like that every time the players return from a break, then they play amazing, and I honostly think, that on those days, we would be able to match anyone. But once we have two games in 3-4 days, we always play poorly in the second game, like today against Zurich. Who's gonna get us a win in the league against the Chievo's and the Parma's if we're gonna rest Seedorf, Pirlo, Ambrosini and Ronaldinho for the Champions League? |

Damn it, Juve did not go through. They are playing horrible this past month and a half. NOw that they are out, Inter better make it or Serie A might lose a spot in CL next season.

Fio qualified, so Serie A has 2 now. Bundesliga has Bayern, Wolfsburg out, Stuttgart (3rd/6pts) must win Unirea Urziceni (2nd/8pts) to get through. That means, Serie A: 2 +, Bund: 1 + Inter can lose now ![]() |
