A report from Channel4

Coppa: Milan complete comeback Wednesday 8 November, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan were looking at another shock home defeat to Brescia, but scored four goals in the last half-hour to win 4-2.

The Rossoneri had a dismal start to the Coppa Italia tie after a run of poor Serie A results, falling 2-0 by half-time thanks to two Zeljko Kalac howlers.

Serafini had opened the scoring on 34 minutes by getting on the end of a Marius Stankevicius free kick and moments later Luis Alfageme took advantage of another Kalac error on a relatively simple ball to double the Serie B outfit’s lead.

Fielding a weakened side, Carlo Ancelotti threw on Pippo Inzaghi at the break and it made all the difference to the team performance.

Dario Simic began the comeback on the hour mark by nodding in Marcos Cafu's cross and Cristian Brocchi drew the giants level with a splendid strike from distance.

Inzaghi was very lively and put Milan into the lead for the first time 12 minutes from the end, turning a corner under the crossbar, before Marco Borriello sealed the scoreline with a chest and angled drive.

This two-goal advantage gives the Rossoneri more of a safety net for the second leg at Brescia’s Stadio Rigamonti, even if they gave away two away strikes.

Milan 4-2 Brescia
Scorers: Serafini 34 (B), Alfageme 37 (B), Simic 60 (M), Brocchi 67 (M), Inzaghi 78 (M), Borriello 86 (M)

true. and i was really surprised milan kept him after disastrous WC??? He's like cudicini for chelsea... evry game they play with him they tend to loose.

Thank god we won. Now lets keep our fingers crossed for roma game... maybe we can pull something off? And i would try to play boriello more if i was ancelotti. Attack is weak anyway.

Except Cudicini is an awesome keeper that has made a few mistakes through rustiness. Kalac is just plain awful.

From acmilan.com:

ANCELOTTI: 'Went well but didn't expect a goal to make us react'
11/8/2006

MILAN - Carlo Ancelotti was satisfied with Milan's win over Brescia in the Italian Cup: 'I was pleased with the team's reaction even if it would have been better to act rather than react. We can't think of getting results when we are always behind so we will have to work on this.'

Is Fiori any good as GK? I remember him playing the cup last year, but not doing too good?!

I think Fiori is better than Kalac, but not by alot. Isn't Fiori about 250 years old?

Just remembered Abbiati is on loan ... and they're above us.
Never thought I'd say that.
