Well, he needs only 15 more Serie A appearances to reach 200.

The Madrid error was egregious and I'm not taking away from that, but in the end it was Casillas who ultimately cost his team the match with two booboos of his own. Anyway, aside from that, Dida has been solid for far more than a few games, and has been virtually mistake-free since subbing in for Abi last season to the UEFA Cup to now. Madrid represented his first major screwup since the '07 Christmas derby, so it's been awhile.

Not trying to convert you back; just offering my perspective.
Anyway he didn't play a lot since 2007-2008 ... and for the few games he had last year, he wasn't that good.

Dida is no more a GK we can rely on, he is simply our 3rd GK and he will leave for sure in the next few months (January or before the WC).

The guy showed he still has talent (you can't lose all your talent suddenly without any specific reason), but his problem is principally mental, a problem of concentration, that's the only thing that can explain that he is able to make miraculous saves followed by very good saves (Napoli and Chievo), but he is also able to make amazing mistakes on easy balls generally (Real this year).

We can't deny he was excellent for the last two games, but one big mistake in 3 matchs is already too much. If he plays 3-4 games more, he will have to do no mistake.

So we can't criticize him for moment because he allowed us to take 4 points in the last 2 games, but we can't start to praise him now as he already made one mistake whereas he only played 4 games !!

I appreciate your perspective.

The point that Casillas made mistakes is a valid one. But Casillas has earned the right to be off some nights.

The thing with Dida is that he can make a mistake at any point. On top of that, he has also has an uncanny knack of not learning from them either.

Anyway, this is all a vexed topic. I admire your consistency, so don't take my Dida bashing personally.

I think the guy was phenomenal at one point. Used to love to watch him play. Now, he has spectacularly fallen from grace to the point where he not only makes goalkeeping mistakes but finds ways to completely humiliate himself. That is sad to see.

I don't. It's just that you're a special case.
