You can't look through rose tinted glasses all the time, i hardly ever criticise the team but this time i'm justified !

We were very lucky this evening. Thanks to Pippo who was again on the right place, a typical 'Pippo-goal'.
But Ancelotti proved again that he's an average coach in my eyes. Did anyone understand his substitutions ?? Ok, Ambro i understand a bit, he's a strong header. But Maldini in for Gattuso ?? That should have been Rui Costa or Gilardino. We needed a goal desperately and he does substitutions like that and keeps on playing with 4 defenders. That's Ancelotti's biggest problem: he never dares to take risks. He's quite a coward actually.
But it ended lucky for Milan, but we were close to the elimination. If we meet Barca, it has to been better then today !
Defense was again very shaky. Only Nesta played a good game in defense. And Serginho quite good in attacking, not in defending.
Sheva was nowhere but he proves to be decisive again.
Also Dida didn't look good on the goal. A ball that close to the goal must be his ball ! But we have to say that the marking there was also horrible.

It was a poor performance by our standards and i don't feel anyone deserved MOM but if you have to pick then it would be Pippo. We were very sloppy and played with lethargy. Is it a case of a long season getting to old legs? i don't know. Or is it that we have serious problems motivating ourselves when we are not playing Europe's elite?

U expect from Sheva too much, every time he got the ball there was two or three defenders all around him... It seemed like everyone played for himself, and on every Milan player it was 2 or 3 Lyon players. The thing is even when u kept tight and touch the ball 3 or 4 times the whole match, still be able to creat something, and that what Sheva did. I'm saying Sheva earned his place to be one of three greatest Milan strikers alongside Van Basten and Nordal, when he will retire I think it will take 5-10 years to replace him.

i'm not disputing that fact at all, i was very very PROUD of Shevchenko when he got that goal and of Inzaghi when he reached his landmark also.

On the contrary - i think his subs were spot on and a lot of credit has to go to him. problem is that his subs and the way he changed tactics were so subtle and simply amazing that most people with more "straightforward" and "traditional" - no offense intended - thinking like "we need to score goals then Rui or Gila have to go in" won't get it for quite some time how Ambro for Pirlo and Maldini coming in place of Gattuso turned the game on its head.

Bram I already explained the Maldini subsitution: it allowed Serginho to play as a winger and not as a defender, to give him more freedom on the left flank.

And I don't understand why people always appreciate Gattuso??? The man make couple takles, scream a little bit, showing some emotions and people instantly call him the spirit of the team, the hero or whatever... let me play for milan, I can scream like crazy and make angry face every time the camera is zoomed on me, than people think that I'm the MOM or MVP or whatever.

I feel he was right on the Maldini substitution.
A cross from Serginho was by far the better gamble than a through pass or a goal from Rui Costa or Gila(not scored a goal in Europe).The only way he could achieve that and not destroy the shape of the team was to bring on Maldini and to push Sergniho further a field.

I cant believe the crap written about Seedorf. Seedorf played a good game and was alone with Gattuso. Pirlo was incredibly dissappointing. He needs to rest, he was very bad today could not hold the ball. And if you want an impressive Milan then Pirlo has to be at the top of his game. Seedorf assisted the first goal and was working his ass off, granted some of his defending was not up to scratch but he and Gattuso were making up for Pirlo and Kaka. Kaka was defended out by the LYON players. The Lyon players were impressive physically we could not compete with them, they have huge guys all over the pitch and we were outmuscled. Thats why the relief was AMBROSINI WHO gave a bit of strength.... AND THOSE THAT CRITICIZE ANCELLOTI IN THIS GAME IN PARTICULAR ARE IDIOTS... HIS SUBSTITUTIONS WERE SPOT ON... SERGINHO WAS OUR ONLLY CREATIVE PLAYER DESPITE ALL THE PRESSURE ON HiM....maldini coming in freed him a bit.... And we need a very good RIGHT BACK... MALOUDA was too much on the side. CREDIT TO LYON... Played a good game... And as for GILARDINO he is a great player I am convinced but in these games you need someone with INZAGHIs experience and predatory instinct.... CAFU WE ARE ALL WAITING FOR YOU TO COME BACK... FORZA MILAN....
