Van Basten is overrated, he didn't play enough to be considered one of the greatest ever, even though he was briliant in the years he played. I'd say Sheva is much better since 1999 he has been always a competitor on the top goal scorer, in the serie a the toughest on attackers. Although i hate him now for going to Chelsea. Leaving Milan is never acceptable, milan is a team where you stay for the rest of our life, unlike Barca,Real,Chelsea and Inter. I hope that he becomes a ****ty player, he dosen't deserve any better.

That's so funny ...

MVB faced the league's toughest defenders when they were still allowed to be tough. If you know anything about him you'll know he was forced to retire because of the constant fouling on him by all the defenders who didn't have any other way of stopping him.

Lol... nearly every shot MVB took was on target... all his bycicles went in! i havnt seen many Sheva bycicles... MVB was loyal to milan too!

let me ask you a question... have you seen both play before? if you haven't... your opinion is only based on some video clips of van Basten... thus what you said bares no volume... if you have... you might have been sufferin' from disillusion...

The difference between van Basten and Sheva is that Sheva is brutal effective scores on almost anything but he does not make you fall in love with football like van Basten did, you can look at all Milan games for the last couple of years and still don't find that glamor we had with van Basten as a striker (of coarse not just him). But in all fairness and without sounding to lame they are two sides of the same coin and one is worth just as much as the other.

I'm surprised that this thread has lasted this long. Forget about comparing Sheva to Van Basten---simply putting Sheva's name in the same line as Van Basten is already blasphemous. This thread is already erroneous from the get-go. There is no comparison between Sheva and van Basten. Marco was a God, Sheva is merely a human being (who wants to learn English

van basten was magic , the all team was magic back then [ they were like harlem globe trotters of foutball , undisputed kings of the world], not the pragmatic team we're seen today, and , as someone said earlier , van basten was atached tot the red-black colours.

I was born in 1993, that's why I couldn't watch van Basten play , but I thought my dad said that Sheva will never be able to replace Sheva , I think Sheva is a good player ,he's talent , but he has already moved to Chelsea,and he said he wanted to end his career there , he's not a Rossoneri anymore , but vBasten is different , he played for Milan til the end .That's why I choose van Basten
