Leo pushed for players and found palyers he needed: Cissokho and Fabiano, but never got them.
About players relaxing after the WC - Im only afraid for Dinho and his motivation. For the rest Im sure the motivation will be higher then when Carlo was leading the relaxation club Milan.

Dutchie, I agree with you with the fact that there seems to be a good chance that if Milan buys Dzeko, it means we will neglect other parts of our team that needs change.
However, I think that while Milan is now functioning in cheaper way, I think that Milan's plan is to make sure that youth players are coming up and making a majority of our starting eleven. I believe the coach of our youth setup said as much. Plus, if you think about it, Antonini, Abate, Borriello, and Oddo are all Milan youth products. Personally, that makes me very proud that three of our starters versus Juve were from Milan. I think this is not only a cheaper option (if you want to be cynical) but it is also one that makes fans connect better with the team and makes the players care more about the shirt they are playing for. I would love to see Verdi, Zigoni, Strasser, and others making up Milan's lineup, it would make me even more proud to be a Milanista. So it seems that because of this home-grown focus, I can see Davide Astori and Marcus Diniz coming back to Milan in the summer, especially Astori. Berlu is cheap, and these are cheap options, but I think that when Milan does get rid of a player, we generally replace them. If Kaladze, Janku, Abbiati, and others leave, we will get new players, I think Berlu is cheap, but not stupid. So, Bonera will hopefully be back (which will finally give us an option to Favalli and Kaladze) but with Astori, would give us a solid 4 CBs to rotate, it seems that Abate will be our Serginho-like player, while Antonini will provide us with cover. As to what happens to Oddo and Zambro? I think Oddo is out, Zambro probably stays around for another year. But Dzeko is something that I think Leo wants. He is a Milanista (sells shirts, wins hearts and minds) while he seems to combine the two aspects of Huntelaar and Borriello: He has the fighting mentality, strength, and determination of Borriello, but he has the touch, class, and scoring ability of Huntelaar. Borriello shows flashes of his scoring ability (Genoa, for instance) but its the big games that make the difference between a Vieri and a Gilardino. Dzeko has shown that he can preform in big games, as well as small. He has speed, power, and agility. He really is what could make Leo's 4-3-3 be even more potent that it all ready is. Borriello seems to either have good scoring games, or hard working games. His hard work is very important, and helps us a lot. However, there needs to be games where he does something, or through his attacking threat influences the game. It seems Borriello can either work hard or score goals, there's nothing in between. Take Ronaldinho's game against Juve, for instance. The game was ugly, no one was going to play beautiful, and no one did play beautiful. It was never going to be a theater of masterful football artwork, it was going to be an ugly game. Ronaldinho was double-teamed, many times triple. He did not get much space, he was pushed around and whatever. But, he still scored twice. He was still able to influence the game, despite not playing very well. That is what Dzeko brings, he is able to make the defense think twice, while working hard. He offers a constant attacking threat, and I don't think Borriello does that, and that is why Milan would go after him. If Dzeko comes, Huntelaar is out, Borriello and Dzeko compete for that spot, and I think that's the way things are going to go. I hope for Dzeko to come, because I think he would provide us with the sort of attacking threat, constantly, rather than one game with a brace, and another game with just some hard running. |

![]() I would be great to sell Jankulovski and Kaladze to Wolfsburg below price, because they both want to play first team football and they cannot get it, so we could buy Dzeko in the summer below price. Like gentleman's agreement. ![]() People don't be silly, Borriello is not enough! We need someone who can hold the ball and SCORE. Just look at his goalscoring record. This season, he scored 7 goals in all competitions (6 in Serie A) for half of season, and Pato, who's supporting striker scored 9 (7 in Serie A). Last season, for 7 games he played he scored just one goal. The only season he scored regularly was 2007/2008 when he scored 19 for Genoa, with at least 5 penalties (I couldn't find exact number). So, his scored like 14 goals from open play in his best season so far, when he played 35 games. If you take his injury proneness in calculation, it's even worse, because he played just 11 games out of 19 this season. So he's average is about 20 games per season. I don't have to remind you that if Borriello injures himself again, we're practically ****ed for Serie A title, unless Huntelaar literally explodes, because Pippo cannot score regularly. I'm pretty sure that Leonardo thinks that Huntelaar doesn't fit in his system, which is shame, because he is one of the classiest strikers around, and Huntelaar is closer and closer to exit Milan in the summer. Now, when we have a chance, it's the right time to make good relationship with Wolfsburg, because most strikers that would fit in our system and we are capable to buy will be 30 or more years old in the summer, Luis Fabiano included. Torres will probably leave Liverpool in the summer, he's the perfect solution, but he will not come cheap, not under 50 millions. We don't have that money. Dzeko is our only real target. Speaking about side-backs, Leonardo will surely wait until the end of the season, to see how Abate and Antonini will play. Abate surely isn't good enough in defense to be regular starter, but I believe Antonini is good enough IF he can play consistently good like he's playing now, he's not old either (26), he has very good potential to be even better. He will never be world-class full back but he can be very good full back. I would like to mention one name here: Christian Maggio. I'm really impressed with this guy, he's definitely most intelligent side-back in the world when he attacks. He's getting in the chances like he's a striker, scores some of them, he's quick, good with the ball at his feet, nice crosser, even pretty good in defense (could be even better) and he's 27. But he will not come for under 15 million, which is fantasy football for us, because Berlusconi showed last summer that he's not willing to pay that much for side-back, not matter how much truth was in Cissokho's teeth problems (who's by the way probably the best left back in the world right now, he can hold whole side by himself, only Maicon is that good), we could buy another LB but we didn't because Berlu thought 15 mil. is too much. I forgot, Samaldinho I agree with everything you said. |

Ok, enough with my night studying, now I can post something and go to bed
![]() As Revolver says, Torres could leave L'pool ( some news say Gerrard will be sold and Morratti is ready to pay. Also some italian agent confirmed that ) and he would be a player that would create probably the best attacking duo on the Earth with Pato! But Milan cant pay for me and not to mention Torres... I also want to say that I do not think Dzeko is as good as Torres or has the potential to play like Torres at any point. But, Dzeko ig anexcellent striker and he is our target and could help us a lot!Yes, I do not know which LB is better then Cissokho now, Leo's pick was brilliant again but Silvio did a HUGE mistake! If we had Cissokho next to Thiago and on Dinho's side, our left side would be horrifyingly strong!! But I feel sick when I think of this summer's mercato so I will stop now And will never forgive them ![]() As Revolver said, we'll invest max in Dzeko and one fullback that can also play as a CB, maybe Benfica David Luiz as Leo's pick. Aldough, if you ask me, 4 mowes are needed: CB, FB, CM, CF. But money is also needed...

In the summer I think that besides a RB our main objective should be a replacement for Seedorf. He'll be 34 and it's unrealistic to think that he can play as a key man for us for an entire season. I really think that we'll get Krasic although I hope we'll get Hernanes or perhaps Giuliani, although I have really not seen much from him, but I trust Mrki and Brasileiro
![]() I think it'd be a mistake to buy Dzeko before a Seedorf replacement and a RB has been found. We've been spending our entire budget on strikers ever since Shevchenko left, before that even. We bought Gilardino (20M) + Oliveira(20M) + Ronaldo(7M) + Pato(20M) + Huntelaar(15M) + Borriello(10M)= 92M euro's roughly. Compare that to what we've spend on defenders and midfielders, and we see why we had Favalli/Maldini as CB's last season. I don't think we can keep on doing this, we have Huntelaar and Borriello, they're both good strikers, and I honostly still believe in Huntelaar. Ofcourse if we could get Torres then that's different. He's a guy we know can take Milan to the next level, unlike Dzeko who's a big maybe. |

I only get to watch Youtubes for most of the players mentioned here, so I have no idea how they perform match in and match out. Let me ask you all one question, if there is only one player to be brought in for attack during summer, who will that be? Torres, Dzeko, or Krasic?
Based on what I have seen online, Krasic seems to be my candidate since he can play as a winger, attacking midfielder, and side midfielder since I don't know if Dzeko is as versatile as Krasic. I understand that many people prefer Dzeko over Huntelaar, but based on team's recent performance, I think attack doesn't impose the biggest concern. Having Kaladze and Bonera playing in the defense is since both of them are sorta mistake prone. By the way, my gut feeling about letting go of the Dutchman may haunt us back in the future. Oh well, I don't know what will happen... but let's dream that 1) we buy Dzeko and loan back to Wolfsburg, 2) keep Huntelaar for another season, 3) get a versatile player (I appreciate Beckham's effort, but sorry, I think the team needs to look for a younger future), 4) strengthening up the back, and 5) Settle on the goalkeeper situation. |

I guess alot of you really want Dzeko. But I stand my point earlier. Dzeko is not a needed in Milan. Some say that Borriello is not enough, but there is Hunter(if he manages to score 10goals) he will stay or unless someone pay 20m+ for him, even then Berlu will still not pay for Dzeko as there is someone call Polashi at Parma.

Completely agree with Samaldinho & Revolver - Someow i do not have the faith in Borriello.....if you scrutinize carefully, Borri is not able to turn around a 0-2 losing game to a 3-0 win....simply because of the lack of class in the highest level ,men like Dzeko, torres are more capable of doing it. Borriello is able to score if rest of the squad is playing that well....with Becks & ABate supplying the delicious crosses, pirlo/seedorf giving the pinpoint long thru ball, R80/Pato dancing around the defenders & sliding a short pass - with this Borriello is capable......BUT-and thats a big BUT - what if milan is not in that top form for a game (for instance if its a champions league semi final) ---we would really hope it was a torres or dzeko instead of a borriello...........(remember the champions league matches in Istanbul -----in the knockout matches we were not playing that well----but we came through----simply because we had Maldini-Nesta at the back & Kaka to attack
Beleive me ---> Dzeko for 35mil+kaladze+janku is better than Dzeko for just 40 mil |

Agree that as a base we would need CF,CM,WB,CB,GK (5 players CF,WB& GK in the first steam & CB,CM as back up) I would add something also to that...if the merato was more easy just like the old barter system we could have done like below :
OUT dida 3 roma 2 storari 2 kaladze 2 oddo 2 zambrotta 3 bonera 6 favalli (retired) onyewu 4 jankulovski 4 seedorf 10 huntelaar 18 inzaghi (retired) zigoni 2 di gennaro 2 TOTAL CASH RECEIVED :60 million Euros torres 45 (Dzeko if available for 25-30) palsochi free krasic 12 hernanes 10 / cigarini kjaer 10 astori free santon 4 rafinha 8 / David Luiz marchetti 6 TOTAL CASH SPENT : 96 million Euros MILAN to spend an extra 35 million euros IF ONLY IT WAS AS SIMPLE AS THIS Last edited by k7r; 12-01-2010 at 00:32. |

I do not follow German league and not sure how Wolfs are doing. But if their coach or manager is really looking into Janku and Kala as players that can help his side and improve the team defense. Well, all I have to say is, how bad can the Wolfs defense be? I mean, even with all the injuries to ManU defense, I still doubt having Kala and Janku will improve their defense.
On a side note, a lot of you have been laughing at ManU and that they will lose Vidic to Real in the summer and then they will be crap.... Have anyone of you ever thought that if T. Silva continues to play well, Real might be offering Berlu 20mil to sign Silva? Which is less than what Fergie is asking for Vidic? Point is, I don't trust Berlu, as despite having a good winning streak, he will sell players when a good offer comes in. |

I cannot believe you think someone will pay 10mil for Seedorf.

You cannot get rid of so many players like that and expect team chemistry.
Haha, also, I would like to say you were quite genenrous when evaluating Seedorf (10 mil), but not our targets.....

![]() but I agree that Boriello isn't consistent enough and doesn't score enough. I believe Dzeko is much better than Boriello, however I don't think he is necessarily better than Huntelaar. I agree with most that KJH must be kept and given more chances, you can see the Klaas he's got with most of his touches. I also think we need to buy a new central attacking midfielder to replace Seedorf soon. A CM like Hernanes who is very versatile can be very useful and a CB like Santacroce. Side note: If we sign both Krasic and Dzeko in the summer - that means no more Non-EU players next year. Honestly I prefer Hernanes, that guy will replace Pirlo and be our new heart. But meh, instead we'll end up with Jovanovic and Toni somehow! |

I'd love Krasic and Dzeko and a good Full back + Astori , it would kick life back into the team fresh blood and all hungry players. There was a time when we would of expected that at the least and got it but now I don't know what to expect.
If we get Dzeko and that is all if our whole budget goes and Dzeko and we throw a couple of player's in that would not be good. While he is a great player we need a good FB + CB and a creative midfielder badly so if we got those + Dzeko i'd be a happy camper. But the defence and midfield is priority IMHO. |
