I'd like to know who "they" all are, this mysterious group of members who dare to ask questions about players. With the exception of a few people slating him before he's got here (if he gets here), i think most people are just trying to determine how good he is before forming an opinion of him.
Facts & figures can be insightful but also used to form any number of conclusions. Pro Oliveira camp: Oliveira scored more goals than Torres in the past two seasons, so he must be better than him ! Pro Torres camp: Torres has scored more goals in La Liga than Oliveira has ! Pro Oliveira camp: Oliveira scored against Madrid and Barca so he must be a great player in big games ! Pro Torres camp: Torres ripped Barca apart in one game and has tormented all La Liga defences ! You can twist these things to suit any needs, it doesn't prove a great deal at the end of it. It is a pity he was injured last November as we don't know if his top scorer award was a one off wonder season or if he's genuinely capable of maintaining that form year after year. Only time will tell if he does come to us and if he is capable of scoring regularly. For my part i don't care who he is or how big a 'name' he has aslong as he can regularly score around 15-20 league goals a season.

im sure we will sign Oliveira, but w all must know that now our attack will be weaker than last year's. If we work well with Oliveira ( which we will do in Milanello ), he could be back soon as he used to be, and that is a pretty good and fast forward. But Sheva is Sheva, a killer. Now our CM needs to work more as Oliveira cant decide the games the way Sheva could. Our only hope is that Gilardino will start to play like he did in Parma. He used to hold on to tackles, score from first touch, moved MUCH BETTER and so on..... lets wait few months and see it all.

I, too, am confident the Oliveira signing will go through since apparently he passed the physical and the player definitely wants to be at Milan. It seems Betis received better offers from two other clubs after accepting Milan's offer and is now using the fine they levied against Oliveira as an excuse to try to get Milan to back out. I think they'll sort it out.

Well i bet the second after sheva took off, and the board tells us that Oliveira is his replacement i bet most fans would be disapointed. Using La Liga as a measuring stick for a strikers performance is unreliable. its so slow and innefective. The closest to measure him by is champions league/uefa cup and he didnt exactly set the world alight. I really thought v.Nistelroy would come here, perhaps we acted to slow. yes then milan werent in the CL, but we could of made contact and tell him to wait. he only cost 15 million euros and that was according to our budget. Im sure olveira is a good player but he is by no means a great player. Berlusconi in my opinion should have made a higher bid for fat ronnie. he isnt bad he is just out of shape a bit, and lost his drive. he needs to come to milan to get all that back. He has been the top scorer in all competitions in all of his seasons at madrid so yeah. I'll just wait and see until the end of the transfer window, which is on thursday?

Look, Ronaldino and Henry aren't available, even to Milan. I realize that's just about all that would satisfy some of you because you want to replace big name with big name and have a feeling that you're getting a guarantee. Life doesn't work that way. Neither does football. If Oliveira is healthy and Milan finalizes the deal, they will be getting a very good striker who will help the team. I don't know why some of you can't just relax and give the guy a chance to show you what he can do before you proclaim the deal to be some huge failure on the part of Milan's management.

Once again you're talking about a group of people but naming no names.
2005-2006 Betis 9 4 2004-2005 Betis 37 22 2003-2004 Valencia 21 8 2003 Santos 14 4 2002 Portuguesa 17 8 2001 Portuguesa 24 14 2000 Portuguesa 5 1 You keep saying he was a key player in Valencia winning the Uefa cup and the league title yet he only scored 8 goals for them and was let go after just one season. Why'd they do that then ? Why didn't they keep hold of him ? Again, alot of people keep saying he kept Betis up by himself so after such a good return for them in his first season why were they quite happy to let him go so quickly ? Now they got rid of Joaquin (who played just an equal part in his goal scoring season), wouldn't they want to keep hold of their best striker to try and avoid relegation ? No one is proclaiming him to be a failure, they're just stating things as they see it. You see it as him being an excellent player, that's great, but not everyone will share your view.

As for Oliveira's time at Valencia, I did not say he was the star of the team. I said he was a key player. He was. It was his first season in Europe and Valencia already had established players, including Miguel Mista, who was in the midst of what turned out to be a career year (19 goals). It took Oliveira some time to work his way into the lineup. He ended up starting 14 games, but more importantly they trusted him to start five matches at the end of their UEFA Cup run. Valencia then had a change of management and Oliveira left for Betis where he had his breakout season in Europe. He was off to a great start last season before his injury, so assuming he is healthy again, I don't see a whole lot there to be worried about.

thats besides the point. his injured his leg twice and that should ring a bell. and its not all in the stats now is it. Betis barely got relegated and he was injured for some games so you cant exactly say he helped them up. I didnt say i want henry -DEFINATELY NOT, and i dont ronaldhino either. There were better and safer options such as Luca toni ronaldo etc. But his here now so we may as well give him a chance if he is not injured the whole season. Getting an additional established striker would make me and most people happy but not just oliveira please.

I think Betis sold him to Milan beacause his attitude, he rejected to come back to Betis ...
My positive view : Milan acttually had a list of great striker to replace Sheva. This List was made by Carlo, Braida, and Galliani. Beside Oliviera this list include Torres, Ronaldo, Iaquinta, ibrahimovic etc, and Oliviera is one of them. The player who top ofe the list is already bought by someone else or to lot of money to spend. And Oliviera is the next name in the list (above Iaquinta, Sobis, Suazo). So Milan Decide to buy Ricardo Oliviera. So milan already think who will replace Sheva ... that's my positive view. My Negative View : Milan doesn't have any idea who will replace Sheva, they try to buy Torrey but to expensive, then Ronaldo but when Galliani/Braida came to Madrid he saw Ronaldo and think ... " achh this player is to fat for us !" ... so he came to Ronaldinho brother to ask again about Ronaldinho, and Ronaldinho brother said "No ... Milan can not affroad the money they need to get Ronaldinho. But i have a great player he's name Ricardo Olviera, i think Milan can affroad this player." Galliani/Braida said "Is he brazilian ?", "Absolutely my friend!!!" Milan is running out of time, so they didn't think. PS : Sorry about my english

Also, are they all being pessimistic on every subject or just on this one ? A topic where you feel one way and some people are either against Oliveira or just asking questions to form an opinion on him ? For my part all i'm saying is that i don't think he's as excellent a player as you're trying to portray him as. No doubt he can do a job for us, which is great. You think he will be a big success for us and that's wonderful, i will just be a bit more reserved and wait until i've seen him play a good 10 games for us before i'm jumping from the rooftops saying "Wow, what a player we have".
