You expressed exactly how I've felt with Milan this season, MVBasten. I agree 100%. Good post.

I think Milan have to thank Empoli's assistant manager for the 3 points (or Malesani, if he was the one who called the ass.manager to do the subs).
Empoli were all over Milan for 55 minutes and they were missing chance after chance. Then their coach decided to replace one of their attacking players and their most creative player at the same time, Giovinco, with a defensive midfielder. He practically gave the match to Milan. After that Empoli hardly ever tried to pass the midfield. But even this way Milan couldn't create anything but the quality of Milan players was the major factor because you managed to score out of nowhere. Bad performance by Milan. Expected i might add. If Milan plays this way then they'll need a looooot of luck till the end, but i really doubt Milan can continue playing like this. Now You'll have only 1 match per week, you won't have to rest players and the results will come.

With all the rest in the world, some players simply cant play good football.
Time has come for a revolution in Milan, but Carlo is denying it becouse that would mean his ass is out of Milanello. As well as 7 other players that cant play for milan anymore.

Good posts Rico and MVBasten, unlike you I lost my patience with Gila last season but still kept giving more and more chances to impress me but he hasn't. I dont care if he scores a goal every game from now to the end of the season, he will still not make up for the disappointment he has been since he joined Milan. Gila needs to leave.
I think Pato now has 7 Serie A goals, which makes him level with Gilardino..I really want to see the number of games each player has played, that will give you an idea of how terrible Gila is. And the funny thing is Pato is a second striker and Gila is the box-box striker so he's the one whos supposed to leading the goalscoring charts. But nah, all he contributes in is the fouls that Milan have gained from his atrocious dives. |

Minutes by Gila: 1578; Goal = 7
Minutes by Pato: 707; Goal = 5! So Pato is definitely more prolific than Gila. In fact, Pato is the most prolific striker amongs all the strikers we have; Ronaldo: 159.5minutes per goal (but only two goals) Inzaghi: 738 minutes per goal (only 1 goal) Kaka: 218.5 minutes per goal (but not sure how many of them are penalty) Pato is definitely very prolific!!! And btw, don't get me wrong but honestly I really don't see how Gilardino can score when you have services from Oddo and Favalli (or Serginho if you wish) on the side like that. Having said, we all hope that, as usual, Gilardino will improve. I am still disgusted (and so far really no one has come against me with any argument) that many of the strikers (with the exception of Borriello?) have taken penalty, inflating their number of goals like crazy. I'm still waiting for a counter argument for that (of course, you can say that Gilardino will never score a penalty, that I have nothing to say but let the rest of the people to judge ;D). And when Kaka` is also only scoring at 218 minutes per goal, yet we are blaming Gilardion for scoring like 235 minutes per goal? I don't want to defend Gilardion anymore, because he doesn't deserve to be. But the bottom line is this: The whole team is playing horribly, yet some individuals have been singled out (most notably Dida and Gilardino). For good reasons, some time, but for other times the facts have been largely distorted by our personal favor. How about this: When Gattuso so aimlessly passed the ball to no one? I don't want to criticize Ambro, but his passing today si abysmal. Oddo, well you bet; Kaka? He got foul the second he got the ball; Gourcuff? Give me a break. Pirlo? Inconsistent this season. Bonera? pass the ball to the opponents? Favalli? A joke? on and on... (except Maldini of course!) Yet we seem to put the blame on the two people: Dida (for letting in goals whether or not he is at fault) and Gilardino (for not scoring goals). So you expect Dida to save us every single game, and Gilardino to save us every single game, and the rest can play horribly? It's stupid to single out an individual (be it Gila, Dida, Favalli, Serginho, Oddo, or CARLO ANCELOTTI) to blame team performance. If we see the whole team plays well but Gilardino sucks, then it's Gila's problem. If whole defense play well and Dida gifted a goal (which happens), then it's Dida's fault. Let me just end with the thought that Milan as a team has to be faster and less predictable. Right now it's all too obvious Milan's game plan. I hope Mister Ancelotti will figure things out, then the summer will come and we'll see. I won't be surprised seeing Gilardino being shown the door. My two cents... i think Pato has 6 goals, doesnt he? napoli, Genova X2, Fiorentina, Catania, Empoli.
Its not only about the goals. Players need to play within the sistem well and also create space or something at least. Gila is supposed to be classical no.9 player. But defenders push him around like he is a child, his positioning on offside trtap is ridiculous and so on, and on... only player that is not involved in the game and can be forgiven in Trezegol. Pato has like 10000 shots on goal ( not all of them are justified dough ), has numerous passes, plays all over the firld and so on. Pato will be the real deal. next year we will see PAto-Sheva, I wonder who will have no7, The new star or a traitor?

mrki: I think you are right; I think the stats were not updated for today
.I agree with you that Pato is 1000% more active, and he takes on the role of R99 or Sheva. Gilardino is bought not to replace shevchenko (or second striker) but rather Inzaghi. HE has thus far fail to do so (at least in terms of goal scoring opportunity). But you are right; not just the goal. I agree that Pato - Sheva / R99 will probably be more lethal than Pato - Gila/Inzaghi. I think another point we have been msising is the age; toni is like 30s; Sheva over 30s. Benzema seems to be a perfect substitute for Gilardino (how old is Benzema btw?). Consider Kaka` - Pato - Gila and we have one of the youngest attack in Serie A. So I'm not sure if the management wants to see Gilardino for, say, toni, who can at most play for two more years for Milan (due to age and fitness decline as all players do). Will be interesting to see how the management responded. I'm sad that R99's injuries really mess up the whole plan. *sigh*... |

Benzema is 20 i think. Kaka'-Pato-Benzema would probably make the best trident in the world next season, but it will not happen. Benzema is simply a brilliant player, clinical striker with speed, power, and a true feeling for the ball. A class of Henry, Shevchenko...
I doubt Galliani even has some kind of a plan. Wile silvio was paying all the money clubs wanted it was all easy, now we are stuck with Laonardo's miracle players from Brazil and Gallianis failures in serie a. If Galliani isnt capable to control the serie a mercato we need another man in there. Moggi himself said Galliani badly wanted M;oggi to get suspended or else he would take over in Milan. I dont think Moggi lied in there, why would he after the punishment? back to Milan. Now we will have normal schadule for therest of the season. Fiorentina has UEFA cup to play still, and we haev games like Napoli-Milan, Roma-Milan, Juve-Milan, Milan-Inter... Lets hope Seedorf, Nesta, Jankulovski will be abck for Roma game becouse Carlo cant think of any mormal game plan without Seedorf in it.
