When Abram first bought the club they had to offer really high salaries to attract players as it was not such a big club. The newer players like Drogba and Robben have much lower salaries.

So if Chelsea take Crespo back not only would they have to pay him over E4 mil to sit on the bench, but will also have other players like Drogba and Robben demanding an equal salary to Cresspo (It makes sense for starting players to be paid at least as much as a bench player). Basically having Crespo, totally screws over Chelsea. And it doesn't matter if there are loads of offers for Crespo as they can't sell him to a team that he doesn't want to go to. Galliani knows this, being the shrewd wheeler dealer he is, and will definitely take Crespo for a minimal fee. And Crespo will take a salary cut to sign a contract with Milan as he is happy here and Ancelotti is his favourite coach since they were together in Parma.

I'm not sure we're in that strong a position but certainly we do have some leverage. Also even though this would be considered "tapping" and tapping players is illegal, we could certainly say to Crespo, "just hang on in there, we just need to make them sweat a bit first." it's kind of hard to stop us talking to a player about trying to sign him when he's in our dressing room every week.

The wages thing might mean chelsea want rid of him to stop paying him, I'm pretty sure it won't ruin morale that much though.

I think everyone here (the amatuer transfer experts that we are ) agrees that an offer 1m either side of 5m would be a reasonably acceptable price.

anyway I really came in here to say that I saw Gilardino again this weekend. God I hope the rumours are true, he looks so perfect, best italian striker r since Vieri and with a better attitude from the sounds of things.

the thing with crespo is all current chelsea strikers have a lower goals to mins played ratio than crespo had when he was there and with his current form, i would think chelsea would try their best to get him to stay there and not get rid of him. IIRC, crespo have mentioned on more than 1 occasion that mourinho called him to ask him to stay in chelsea.

I doubt wether crespo belives mourinho, after all mourinho was allready in london when crespo left chelsea and didn't stop him at all. when crespo needed a supporting coach the most he couldn't find him in mouinho but he did find him in Carlo.
if could pick one striker of all the strikers of chelsea, I'dd pick crespo anyday, mourinho apparantly not...

maybe cresp just said that to urge milan or another club to move in quickly...

if what ur saying about chelsea wanting crespo so badly hwmook is so true then with chelseas money im sure they would rather get those 5M from us and buy a completely in form striker instead, crespo i think is still regaining his form and is not completely 100% i think.

AC Milan target Gilardino: I want to leave Parma in Serie A
tribalfootball.com - March 21, 2005

Parma striker Alberto Gilardino admits if he must leave at the end of this season then he wants to join "a great club".

Gilardino reportedly already has an agreement with AC Milan for next season and he said: "If I had to leave Parma I would want to leave the club in Serie A and with a beautiful memory of me.

"However, in order to move from Emilia I would demand I go to one of the great clubs.

"In any case, my next future goal I see is staying in Italy because I do not want to lose my national team place. Then later it would appeal to me an experience in Spain."

errr, crespo didn't even meet mourinho cause crespo didn't even appear for the first training session and he want to get out of chelsea.....

even if crespo doesn't make them stronger, chelsea would also want to make us weaker.

Im sure a meeting was arranged, but Crespo opted to not appear as talks were ongoing with Milan. Mourinhio rightly decdided not to keep a player against his wishes. Mourinhio will never force Crespo to come back if he doesnt want to. He understands its not good for the player, and not good for team morale either. If Crespo insists on staying he will.

Personally, Im pleased with the goals Crespo has gotten for us, but I really want a strike partner for Sheva who imposes him self on the game. Some ome in the Weah mould perhaps.

i too want to keep crespo because i like how he developed into a great player again with us. he was really fantastic for us this season and i don't want to know where we would stand now in the cl and serie a without him!!!

but what will happen when he finds himself on the bench next year when we have gila? we all could see how important it is for a striker to have match experience last sunday in rome. tomasson was awful, no self confidence nor ball control. he was totally useless and that is very sad because many of us can surely remember another tomasson (DANISH DYNAMITE!!)

when crespo will play less he won't be all smiling next year and what then?

i think if we keep crespo we shouldn't buy gila. galliani and carlo have to take a decision. sad but true

I choose Gila over Crespo anytime. Plus the team needs young players, and realy soon. Plus Gila is world class. If any of you seen more than 5 of Parma's games this season in which Gila played you'd agree with me. And against Inter ...what more can I say?

yup shev is our main striker and he will probably remain our n°1 striker but I'm affraid we can't have inzaghi and crespo and buy gila together with tomasson who is our 4th striker (= a lot of time on the bench, coz I don't see inz, cresp or gila benched all the time the way tomasson is)
I think though choices have to be made...

i think we should buy gila we need younger strikers, tomasson is in poorest form i ever seen , and he is player for sale , inzaghi is 32 and his career is almost finsihed for some 2-3 years . we must buy gilla for every price he is excent player. sheva crespo and gilla superior atackers .
