Thanks, great info. Quote:
8th is barely enough to be first seed, hope that we'll have a good draw. I think we need at least be in quater-final as the chance for all 8 best coefficient teams be there at the same time is small (one/some of them will drop points), and when we are at the quater-final, we often goes further ![]() I think we can, last year if we were more competitive for 1st place (we had chance after defeat Real & Marseille), Lyon was of course a easier opponent. We just lost the normal attitude in Champion League. This season will be different. Quote:

I hope do Gabriel because it really doesn't look we are going to sign anyone , we are not even attempting cheap and free players and good ones at that,We could get VdV for maybe as little as 7 million now because Madrid want his salary gone.Hernanes going for 11-13 million and thats a good price either player would bolster our squad. And to think we are still being linked with Dzeko Ibra Robinho and Bastos.
And what they said to Bastos about him being too expensive how amateurish and bush league , we knew he wouldnt and will not come but my god have some pride and sense . |

I don't know if it's been mentioned here, but I haven't read anyone mention it. It seems we've been linked to Kevin Prince Boateng of Portsmouth, who impressed a lot with Ghana during the world cup. The rumours are everywhere, with Tuttosport being the original source.
Lazio and Genoa are both looking to get him too, and given Portsmouth's financial troubles, he's been valued at a very reasonable 7m euros. For me, if it's possible to get him, then certainly we should at that price. He's a dynamic and powerful central midfielder who is still young at 23 and could be used in many positions. He's technically gifted, though a little erratic and plays with aggression, which our midfield would benefit from. His weakness for me is his inconsistent final ball and sometimes poor decision making, but certainly these are areas which he can develop. If we are to get a central midfielder, then we could do a lot worse than Boateng. |

I want this player, too. What we lack now is a player with raw strength & athletism, what we can't ask Ambro or Rino because of their age and Flamini is a DM based on tireless movement, not strength. Boateng could give us that, and he is quite good technically. 7M for him is fair price. I think Milan has been too cautious about transfer, but Boateng or Honda are the types we lack, so the risk is small. |

please no Boateng, the biggest cvnt in european football. Milan has a history of players with a good attitude and respect, bst examples are players like Maldini, Kaka, Nesta...
We dont need fcks like kevin PRINCE Boateng, players like him are suited for Inter. We shouldve bought hernanes for 13m!! That wouldve been a steal, in a year or 2 he wouldve been worth 4times as much.

Juventus To Use Iron Fist Against Players Refusing Transfers
Those who obstruct the club's strategy will be shown the iron fist, with possible exclusions from the squad for the whole season as Giuseppe Marotta takes a hard-line approach with players who are no longer part of the club's plans, but are refusing to accept offers from elsewhere. http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/trans...sing-transfers It still needs to be confirmed, but very Juventus-like already. Milan should learn & try. Our problem is too cautious with transfer and too "soft" in dealling with own player. Oddo is renewed and a home product, Zam is still useful somehow, Janku's wage is not big and he is quite versatile, but Kaladze could be counted as totally useless and should be given something more stern. |

However, what I don't want is a player brought primarily for his physique, this would be an absoloute mistake imo (not that I'm saying you are suggesting this with Boateng). If the world cup proved anything, it is that technically good teams that are well organised will be more sucessful than teams relying on athleticism, and Spain more than anyone proved that. On a separate note, but one relevant to how I think we should be building the team, I agree with Sacchi that in the modern game a player must be multifunctional (Jonathan Wilson, a well respected football writer, describes it as Universality) rather than specialized in specific roles. The idea is that players can share duties and responsibilities within a constrained system. This isn't new, Brazil, Lobanovsky, Rinus Michels and even Cruyff as a player all in the 70s started this trend. Total football may have had freedom for players to move and switch roles frequently, but this was always within a set system. This has been continued since and become more prominent to the modern day. Sacchi's Milan had a very definite system, but what made his team work so well was that each individual at his disposal were not only tactically very clever, but the fact is each player were capable of playing a diverse range of roles. We must build our squad on this model, getting players who are flexible enough to do a number of duties. The best example I can think of is Pirlo as a regista. He has been one of our most important players (arguably the most important) in the past decade. However, it's no coincidence that his struggles as a regista and being marked out of games became more common as we moved Seedorf further up the field. With only Rino (and/or maybe Ambro) left by his side, we had no alternatives in deep midfield to start attacks beyond Pirlo. Had Rino been a better ball player, then he could have been a viable option to start attacks and given opponents another problem to deal with. Quote:
BTW, the Prince in his name is in reference to his father, whose name is/was Prince Boateng. I thought I ought to mention that as you capitalised this part of his name. Last edited by ACMILAN1983; 05-08-2010 at 05:48. |

It not just discipline when it comes to Boateng he is not a very good player , I saw alot of him at Portsmouth and none at Tottenham because he didnt play.Sure he is young but he will not make our midfield any better than Flamini or Strasser , from seeing him with Portsmouth and Dortmund its clear he doesnt score doesnt create and doesnt break up play isnt a good passer and isn't a guy for making tackles. Please do not judge him on 5 games for Ghana where he wasn't exactly awe inspiring.

Going to the final isn't too different from winning it (of course, if we go to the final, why not winning it ?! ), even in semi-finals, the difference isn't huge compared to a team ending 2nd of its group with 2 wins for example and losing both legs in 1/8 finals.Rumours of new offers for Ronaldinho that Milan would accept ... We're linked to Donadel. The agent of T.Silva plays the same game as the one of Kaka': if Milan accepts an offer of Real Madrid, they will discuss with the club, meaning that if the guy goes in a near future, it's because of Milan and only because of Milan (why not doing like Jankulovski or Kaladze who refuse other clubs ?). About Boateng, more informations on the deal with Genoa: it's Genoa who would buy the player and would send him on loan in Milan (Genoa would act like a big club and Milan like a small one by doing that) because they would have too many midfielders for this season. They would have the money to buy him by selling Acquafresca to Cagliari. Another possibility would be co-own him with Milan (which for once, seems a better solution for us).

ACMILAN1983: I like the idea of signing Kevin Prince Boateng not only because of his strength, but also his overall technique. However, raw strength is still something to regard.
Barcelona & Spain's successes have proved that technique dominance can win, but it is not undefeatable, no strategy or line-up is. If Holland have better attacking force with both Robben & Van Persi at 100% form, things might be different. Barcelona have had difficult against physical team like Chelsea or Inter. But a team has it own character, it can not be both Barcelona & Inter at the same time. It is good to be versatile, but you can not attack & defense at world class level at the same time, you can not have both the strength of Gattuso & skills of Pirlo. Sometimes, the cooperation of different specialists is better than some individual versatile ones. Too versatile = none at best. 2, 3 positions most. Of course, I like K.P. Boateng because he is versatile, too. But specialist is welcome, IMO. I think, the biggest problem is not how many specialists or versatile players you have in a team, but how they can play as a team to bring the best our of the team. If the coach has a good strategy & his players are at good form when working in it, he can win any match at his team's level. PS: K.P. Boateng is OK with 7M. Let's keep Aadiyah if we sign Boateng, it will be easier for both and they could help each other to mature in the Milan group ...

- only Flamini is worth being a starter (and will probably become WC this season if he manages to play like in the few friendly games during a whole season). - Gattuso was bad last season, and doesn't deserve to be a starter at all. - Strasser ? I wonder why he is so hyped by Milan fans, I don't say he's bad, nor he's good, nor anything, but we all saw him, what, 5-6 times in first team, generally few minutes (except in the last game), and everyone rates him like a potential starter for us. I'm unable to judge a player based on 2 and a half games, I'd like to see more of him in first team before counting him like one of our midfielders. Brasiliero: You said many times that Ilsinho wasn't good enough for Milan, if I'm correct, you said the same thing with Rafinha and some other players. My question is, for you, are these players not worth to play in a big club like Milan, or are these players not good enough to be a starter in our team (by knowing that our best RBs are Sokratis, Abate, Zambrotta and then Oddo) ? What I'd like to know is if these guys you rate "not good enough for Milan" are better or just at the same level (or even worse) than our current RBs ? Because if they are better, so even if they shouldn't start in a big club like Milan, they would be more useful that what we have ... I don't know if you understand what I mean, what I ask. To make it simple, Ilsinho isn't good enough for Milan in your opinion, but if he comes, will he be a starter in our current Milan ?

It would be really nice to see if Allegri uses Merkel and Verdi this season more often than not coz they ve really impressed me in pre season so far. They need more playing time and if our bosses think that their pockets are torn, i say use these lads. We save money n also we get the reputation of using our youth which in my opinion would be fantastic.
P.S. Verdi would be a better striker than Boriello any day
