I was stoked to find Maldini had scored, so when GOL TV showed the game on delay I had to watch to see the goal. I guess il capitano is saying to us "if those forwards can't score, then by the gods I WILL!"

... and I don't share your opinion that this is the worst season since 89. We had much worse seasons, 90-91, 96-98, 99-02. it is still early, way too early for this season to be defined as "the worst". as a matter of fact, my friend, it could possibly turn out to be one of the most memorable seasons. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

About the match. First and foremost I want to say I'm delighted at the result. Sure enough we could have won more comfortably, but in this match getting 3 points was by far most important.

I was actually very pleased with our performance, which I think was possibly our most complete performance of the season (maybe with exception of the first couple of matches).

Defensively we were astute and gave very little away. However, it was the midfield and yes, even the attack that I was most pleased about. In midfield we were far less static and much more creative. The team also worked hard off the ball and retaining the ball, and this was massively important to our play.

Up front, despite neither forward scoring, I must say I was actually very pleased with Gila in this match. I thought his work off the ball and even around the box supporting others deserves credit. He didn't get many chances, but we have to bear in mind that for most of the match he was supporting Pippo. The pair worked better in this match than I've seen up till now this season. I still don't think they're a good partnership (and I assume Carlo only played them together due to lack of options), but this time round they weren't always getting in each others way, and that is at least a start.

Gourcuff for me was the most critical player. I had been pretty much begging for him to play ahead of Seedorf and thankfully he didn't disappoint. Rather, he was our best player on the pitch, as his movement, touch, creativity and quickness (he isn't brilliantly fast, but very very quick, big difference) on the ball were simply great. However, not only that but especially his work ethic and ability to work with others were simply beautiful to watch.

A quick rundown of the players...

Kalac - Didn't make any costly mistakes and didn't let past goals, enough for me
Bonera - Solid and went forward well, needs to work on the final pass.
Janku - good interplay down the left and great performance overall
Maldini - A legend and our best defender this season. He's an inspiration and none moreso than yesterday with a great goal.
Simic - Solid, little else to say.
Brocchi - Continued his good work and was very much like Rino clone yesterday, very good game
Pirlo - Thanks to Gourcuff's movement he was actually given a chance to play and it was evident in his great passing and creativity. Couple of good shots too.
Gourcuff - Cannot emphasise how well he did, Man of the match easily for me. Carlo has to put him in ahead of Seedorf from now.
Kaka - Started slowly but by the end showed how great he is. Worked beautifully with Gourcuff (who didn't?) and very unlucky not to score.
Gila - Worked his butt off for the team, though it affected his chances of scoring. Made the keeper pull of a great save with an unexpected long shot.
Pippo - Overall our most disappointing player, but again he did have chances, and had it not been for Storari, he'd probably have scored.

We can still do better, but this is a massive step in the right direction. We need to continue to move forward on this performance now and I'm sure this season isn't completely over.

Guys played very good, and if it was not for Storari, the score would be 3:0 at least. Damn! He saved everything.
Kalac played OK...he made several mistakes, but he played better than I though he would. I was definately glad to see Nesta, but he did not seem fully recovered. Maldini was amazing!!! Right time, right place, as usual!

I know it is late to comment in this game
but I want to say I'm glad Milan win and hope this win motivate Milan player
to do well and win other game and I did like Maldini goal. it was wonderful
goal that gave us important 3 points
