from acmilan.com :
ANCELOTTI: 'We'll play a three-man attack'

MILANELLO - On the eve of Milan-Shakthar Donetsk, Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that Andriy Shevchenko won't be called up for the Champions Legaue game at the San Siro.
The same will be with Jon Dahl Tomasson, who is unavoidable.
The coach said in his pre-game press conference: 'What about a draw? It is a good result to qualify, but we aim at closing top of our group, bla - bla - bla ...'

NO SHEVA , NO JDT and three-man attack ?
Ricky - Crespo - ?????

FORZA MILAN

It will probably be Kaka, Crespo and Serginho who will lead our attack. Since we are at home, I do not see it as a major problem. Sheva and Jon are not 100% fit, so it is fair to give them a rest...
I think Crespo have received a boost with his goal... and we NEED to qualify tomorrow, so we do not have to worry when going to Glasgow in 14 days.

I think lineup will be: Dida - Cafu, Nesta, Maldini, Kalaze - Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf - Kaka - Serginho, Crespo.

If that line-up is indeed true, then it is more of a 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 than a 4-3-3. It certainly isn't a "three-man-attack", an definately less so than in the normal 4-3-1-2 formation. I hope to see JDT play, he did well with his national team last week.

According to report, he is injured , slightone.

Ancelotti demands Milan victory Tuesday 23 November, 2004

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Although a point will be enough for qualification, Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti is demanding a victory against Shakhtar Donetsk.

"It is our objective to not only qualify for the knock-out stages but to do so by winning the group," he stated ahead of tomorrow’s Champions’ League game.

"I would like to see us put on a similar performance to the one when we beat Barcelona at the San Siro."

Milan and Barca currently share top spot in Group F after collecting nine points from four games so far.

The Rossoneri have already beaten their Ukrainian opponents 1-0 this term and the Coach is confident they can pick up three more points.

"I don’t think they’ve changed that much since our first meeting," he added. "They are a side who like to play good football.

"We were a little tentative when we travelled to the Ukraine but I think we will be in a better frame of mind tomorrow."

Milan’s goalscoring hopes are set to fall on Hernan Crespo given the fitness problems of Andriy Shevchenko and Jon Dahl Tomasson.

"I don’t consider our decision to sign Crespo as a gamble," noted the tactician. "Hernan has great quality and he’s getting over his initial problems."

What about the disappointing form of Kaka? "I think he just needs to continue with what he is doing," defended Ancelotti.

"He isn’t finished as a player even if he is going through some highs and lows at this moment in time. If he plays then I hope he does well."

With Sheva out of the line-up with a muscle problem, Carlo the "Great Defensive tactician of our time" has stated that he will be using a 3 man attack!

This is too good to be true. Without JDT and Sheva, we have, as TRUE attacking options: Crespo, Rui and Kaka.

Serghino is a left back for crying out loud, and IMO is not an attacker. He is offensive minded, but that is about it. He is usefull however, dont misunderstand me here, but at the risk of stating the obvious, he just isnt a striker.

The hurtful truth is, that posts predicting Serghino to start in attack are not off the mark, indeed, this is just the sort of thing Carlo likes to do.

We should win this game comfortably no matter who plays, as we have a collective of talent that Shaktar cannot match. What the Ukraine club do have that we are struggling to find rite now is cohesion and chemistry: They may in fact be a better "team" than Milan, even if we have better players man for man on the pitch.

They will have studied and restudied the first match we played against them, and will look to exploit our weaknesses, where they see them. I expect rapid counters, and I also think that a surprise may be in the offing if we dont focus, and play to our best, not as a group of individual players, but as a team, each man playing for the other, making the necessary tackles, marking with concentration, and looking to make the simple passes.

A little less selfishness from our "attacking trident" and we will score the necessary goals, and I think we will need to score more than one, to win this game. In addition, a LOT LESS arrogance , and we should romp over these UCL minnows.

2-1 to Milan. Kaka and Crespo to score.

FORZA MILAN. FORZA CRESPO!!!!!! We certainly need u to wear ur goal scoring boots tomorrow!

I simply reiterate what Maldini said "Not qualifying tomorrow and leaving it till the last day is madness"

A victory is a what we all want and its time to see the players deliver that.

Nice to see Real suffering today

Juve got their fifth 1-0 in a row....something similar happened to us last season....although it was only four 1-0 if I am not wrong.

As for our game, a victory is what we need to focus on, our lineup:

----------- Dida ------------

Cafu - Nesta - Maldini - Kaladze

--- Rino --- Pirlo --- Seedorf --

-------Kaka --- Rui ----------

--------- Crespo -----------

Or if Carletto wants to do some rotation we might see Dhorasoo and Sergio in from the start (instead of Pirlo and Kaka/Seedorf)

Come on Hernan!!!

FORZA MILAN!!!

Hey Dhorasoo should be there with Rui IMO, Kaka should be rested as i feel he is over-used and could use this match to revitalise himself for Chievo...well all else should be cetarus parigus as above~
