Milan's midfield conundrum Friday 22 April, 2005

Pippo Inzaghi returns to bolster the squad for their match with Parma, but Carlo Ancelotti admits injuries are continuing to decimate Milan’s midfield.

“Inzaghi is fit enough to start from the bench, while Vikash Dhorasoo (pictured) is definitely ready,” noted the Coach ahead of the Saturday evening encounter at the San Siro.

“The trouble is that Andrea Pirlo is out of action, Gennaro Gattuso is suspended and we will need late fitness tests for Massimo Ambrosini and Manuel Rui Costa. I just hope we’ll have everyone in condition to face PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday.”

Pirlo was much missed in the 1-0 victory over Chievo on Wednesday evening and remains a major doubt for that Champions’ League semi-final with a knee injury.

“It is true that we have a few more injuries than we’re accustomed to, but we have survived worse situations than this,” insisted Ancelotti.

“What I do find unusual is that before we had all our strikers out of action, now the injuries have struck the midfield. Thankfully, our defenders have remained relatively healthy throughout the campaign.”

Ancelotti hinted that Serginho could be used in midfield, but Pirlo’s absence is likely to prompt a switch to the more solid 4-4-2 system against Parma on Saturday evening.

Hmm, Ambro and Rui doubtful, could be Dhorasso´s time to shine...I hope Clarence can give us another MOM performance vs Parma, and that we take a comprehensive lead early in the game, so as to allow him to be substituted in the second half, in order to have him in tip top condition for the UCL on Wednesday.

Carlotti said Dhorasoo is definitely available, and IMO that means he will start.. Rui and Max still need fitness tests.

Im afraid we will have problems this game. We've had some-what a problem in scoring goals in the recent games. We're just not taking our chances. Pippo is on the squad for this game, but i bet he'll get injured by the end of this match for another month. I just hope Milan finally understand that Pippo is finished due to his injury problems. We had to do with only 3 strikers for most of the season.. I really think we should get rid of Pippo and JDT next season, I really do admire Pippo though, but you all have to put Milan above your love for Pippo and think whats best for the team.

Anyway, I was saying.. I really think we will have problems scoring, and I really doubt the Juve will drop points. I think Juve will win, and we will draw 0-0. Juve will be 2 points ahead of us. And then on May 6th, we will be one point ahead of Juve. That's my prediction.

I really would love to see us score +3 goals, as we really really need that at this point of season. It will boost us so much. Kaka turned 23 today, if we were to score tomorrow, place your bets on Kaka

The thing i hate about this game is that it is going to be on a saturday. I know there is a champions league game and the team needs to rest. But this means if we win on saturday juv will win on sunday because they will be playing with more motivation (like what happened in the roma-juv game).

To be quite honest i want the partnership of centeral deffence to be pairing of maldini-nesta or nesta-stam, I think that the partnership of maldini-stam isn't as solid as the previous two. and We need to rest maldini he has been playing too much this season (give the young lad a games rest).

Also those damn referees will try their butt out..

what worries me is that we have three fundamental players hanging on a yellow card - Nesta, Maldini, Seedorf and I wouldn't be surprised to see some of them get booked deliberately in order to be cleared for the Juve game.
Apart from that this will be a very difficult game - just like all the remaining games till the end of the season. If we remain concentrated and don't think too much of PSV, we should get a comfortable win, IMO.
Should we win tomorrow, Juve will definitely beat Lazio thanks to yet another "unintentional" mistake by the referee, whoever he is.

OK, great news - Zlatan has been banned for 3 games: 1 for accumulated 5 yellow cards and 2 extra games for Cordoba-Gate from the Juve-Inter game. This means the swede-wanna-be will miss the Milan-Juve game on May 8th.

The italien papers have this lineup tonight:

Dida; Cafu, Nesta, Stam, Kaladze; Ambrosini, Rui Costa, Seedorf; Kakà; Shevchenko, Tomasson.

Crespo will rest and I somehow hope JDT will score. He could get an important role in the remaining season as joker, but he need a goal to get more self confidence.

Should be a difficult game as Parma need points. However, we must continue pushing for the title and so a win is necessary.

wow I'm so glad we won 3-0 and Got 3 points and I'm glad to see
Kaka is scoring again .this win was very important to us espacialy as we
are going in important game in champion league . I hope juve to lose and
drop 3 point so we be a head of them but if they win May 8 will
only annoused the team to win scudetto and I'm positive that our captin
