But Stam+Maldini doesn't work too well since their playing style don't complement each other too well. Stam is strong in direct intervention but bad in positioning. Maldini's strength is positioning and reading the game.

I don't see Stam is to be put on bench by Ancelotti, af all it was he who wanted Stam. We just renewed the contract with Stam for one year so don't think any sale of him either.

Just hope he will become more fitted in the backline with one season playing with us under his belt.
I completely agree with you that Maldini pairs up much better with Nesta and is more suited at his age to play in the center. In crucial games, that should be the central pairing. Huge blunder by Carlo.

I know it's great to have legendary players staying on, but you have to draw the line somewhere. You have to accept that one day the likes of Costacurta and Maldini will be gone, they shouldn't play if they're not up to it ... for the good of the club and for them.

Remember what happened with Baresi ? He was tempted back for a while and he just didn't have the pace anymore, which kind of took the gloss off of the end of his career a little. I would hate to see the same thing happen to either Costacurta or Maldini. To see them kept at the club as a reminder of the glory days, but then see them out paced and out thought on the pitch, that would just be too much and not what either of them deserve.

We need pace in the centre of defence, if it doesn't come this summer then it HAS to come next summer for certain. I still don't believe playing all 3 of Nesta, Stam and Maldini works for the team.

Well with Pirlo in the team we are prone to attacks through the middle, should we get rid of him, Gatusso made mistakes in the final, he couldnt mahe a pass against Liverpool, PSV or should we sell him. When Cisse came on , who was it that kept him quiet->Stam

Besides if you watch the goal again, Cafu is drifting inside while Risse is loving the space on the wing. Cafu doesnt properly close him down but risse crosses straight into his back. Then it came back to risse and Cafu still hadnt decided to close him down properly. Then came the wonder header. If it wasnt for Stam we would have got beat by Barca, we may have been beaten by who were all over us until Stam got the first goal and we probably would have been complaining about Kaladze being injured or Pancaro being sent off or not playing well. Lets not turn Stam into a scape goat.

I dont see how Nesta and Maldini make a better pair. All 3 have made mistaeks this season, some bigger than others.

We should never have got Stam in the 1ste place !! Maldini-Nesta was awesome in central defense, and now Maldini has to play left wingback again. And Kaladze went to the bench ... Stam is not that good anymore ... We need some young reinforcements : Kompany is one of the hot prospects for the future of European football, it would be nice if we catch him ...

we are proud of our legends those who devoted their life to our team. I never even think about it, how a real Milan fan can speak such words - get rid of man who is our legend and a spiritual leader.

I never though that Stam is not worth to play for rossoneri colours. I am proud of him and what he has done to ur team, this complicated season.

OMG, how can you call yourself a MILANISTA!?

i like this formation and it would solve a lot of problems we have. it is the best working formation i see where we can accomodate stam and maldini. with maldini on the left that side was too weak in going forward because seedorf tends to go in the middle which lost us width we need very much. if maldini plays on the left we need someone strong at going forward on the flank like serginho.

I agree with what you're saying Jim, but I think Maldini is still good enough at the highest level, and Billy adds strength in depth. I think the point people are making is that they should stay at the club in some coaching capacity to pass on their experience to younger players. There can't be many teams who have players like these two in their squads, who have won pretty much every club competition going, and they could prepare some of the younger players in the squad for the pressure that goes with playing for a club like Milan.

Maldini is still good enough to play for Milan. Costacurta has been a reliable sub, and I think his main contribution is in the dressing-room, with his experience and character.

However, I agree that playing Nesta, Stam and Maldini together hasn't been working. IMO, though, the main problem isn't Maldini but Stam.

I agree completely that when Maldini and Costacurta stop playing, they should be given coaching jobs ... and i'm not saying Maldini is the problem either. I was just trying to highlight that at some point we need to let go and not live in the past

Sell him if it's over 5 mil, or bench him at crucial games.

Kaladze must stay!

Respect you, Man !
Billy has made such great performances with us, why should get rid of him ?
With his age and experiences, he's a good motivation for novices/young players in AC Milan.
IMO, he'll stay until his retirement and after that, stepping to a good position in management. Trust me.
