Do not agree with this one. IMO there are plenty of patriots in yer couttry so acquiring Kakha Milan got many georgian fans [though not all are true]. I maintain this cuz of my own experience when Edinbourgh Hearts signed some Lithuanian lads. Nevertheless this transfer [I mean Kakha's] did not affected us Lithuanians or any other nation in the world cuz we dont give a phuck about georgians too much [sorry nothin personal or racistic ]. But if Milan signs any of italian starlets I bet many of world wide football audience will put a tic near Milan logo, which means that this club still has classic values and a sence of patriotism. These virtues are still alive all over the world and treated very respectfully... so IMO if there are two players of almost qual abilities it's better to sign italian one.

Same thing happened with Sagnol from Bayern.
As for Cassano, yeah we had a great chance to get him but in his case his attitude and lack of respect and discipline, and not his price, proved to be enough for Milan to not go for him. He does have a huge talent but a team like ours has just too much to lose in order to make a risky gamble on someone like him. Juve also didn't go for him, and that says it all.

I mentioned marchionni just to give example of talented italians, yes Juve got him, they are fast.
about cassanos character I agree but I think he is very talented.
but my idea in general was thet talented italians are available, because your laconic question "for example" gave me impression that you do not see any in general

Of course there are some but as you see alone, the talanted ones aren't exactly a commodity - I wouldn't mind having Marchionni, cassano, Barzagli, or De Rossi at Milan but you know there are other teams out there and they also have their transfer targets and, in certain cases like Cassano's, it would be in the team's best interest not to have them at Milan. There is always the problem with availability(De Rossi) and availability at the right price (barzagli), as well.
My whole point was not that there aren't any talanted young Italian players out there but that they aren't as many as you would like them to be and it's impossible for the top Italian three - Milan, Juve, Inter - to build their success on italian players.

To RAE:

well I think at the end you came to the same conclusion, yes mioan got fans in georgia for kaladze but not real fans, not those who will get the shirt of kaladze instead of buying some other cloth, not those who spend sunday evening in sportbar watching milan matches with the heart ready to jump of, and yes I agree the classic values are still strong, traditions still play big role in peoples mindset so I think even if economical and political borders are extinguished and there is real globalization in this sence, poeple in most countires still have the understandings of patriotism, local belongigngs and so on so yes , milan will get much more loyal fans around the world if he signs more italians,

however I say again, if we will have to choose between di michele and ronaldigno I preffer the Brazilian), ..just to make clear my point.

IMO this Local Players/Foreign player idea is really pissing me off, yes it is good to have a local players in the team but not all the time.i prefer to play a someone based on his merit and his quality not based on his passports, and this idea of local players seems to be racist or xenophobic idea IMO
recently a lot of people including Alan Pardew(who is experiencing premiership season for the first time in his life) are coimng out to crtiticise Wenger for not playing british players which obviously sounds stupid to me, because aresenal has 2 England International Players(Ashley Cole-Best LB in England and Sol campbell) who are indispensable to Arsenal, but due to injuries wenger has to field better player who can cover their role. and they also have Kerrea Gilbert who has been impressive playing as a full back but he is out with injury, they have bought theo walcott for almost 12 Million pounds who happens to be 17 year old, so what else do you expect from Wenger?
To buy an overrated English Player for a ridiculous amount(e.g. Jeffers-10m,Crouch-7m,SWP-21m)
IMO if i am the Manger of a particular team i will only play you based on your Merit,Quality,Form and Experience not passports

What Pardew said had nothing to do with racism and xenophobia

It is a genuine concern that if no English players play at the highest level for English teams then they miss out on crucial experience. The pressure to succeed at the highest level of club football will make major teams go out and buy established players instead of bringing through young talent, like as happened in Scotland. If Milan and Juve followed Inters example and there were no Italian players at the top end of Serie A, it would hurt the national team, would it not?
That said, you are right that the Arsenal situation isnt as bad as it looks and that Cole and Campbell are both regulars when fit.

Spurs are currently above Arsenal and they have got there by relying on those "overrated" young English players. look at what they paid for guys like Robinson, Dawson, King, Gardner, Carrick, Defoe, Routledge, Lennon, Huddlestone, Jenas.... £20m or thereabouts has got them a team full of England u-21s and full Internationals. Could Wenger not afford them? He wanted Jenas and Dawson when they were still at Forest and could have had them both for £5m....but he spent it on Cygan and Flamini instead

Which is fine, but Wenger has managed Arsenal for a decade now so the team he has available to him is one he is entirely responsible for assembling. The argument that he is only picking the best available to him doesnt work because he is the one who made them available to himself !

Agreed, the basic idea for wanting these youngsters is that it benefits the national side to have as many Italians at the top level gaining the highest experience available. If the best Italian players were at clubs like Palermo and Parma, gaining mid table finishes and never playing in Europe, whilst Milan and Juve were full of, for example, Brazilians, who were winning titles and playing in the CL it would be no surprise to see Brazil beating Italy comfortably on the international stage. It is not neccessarily the case that the Brazilians in this example are better players, it is just that major clubs would rather not risk a few lean seasons whilst they develop their own talent when they can buy it ready made from elsewhere.

If it is Xenophobic to worry about that then we may as well condemn International football as a xenophobic idea, afterall, nations are trying to beat each other

If you see here racism you shoulda see it everywhere

First of all I am disguisted of arse's trasfer policy. I can not name any good point of that team, they even do not has a british orginated regular starter and they call themselves - representatives of UK capital London

If Milan would look like arse these days I seriously concider if it is worth to respect or even support such team with no self-esteem. Our pride are italian players so I can not imagine Milan without them... Franco, Billy, Paolo...

I don't know what's the whole fuss about bringing more Italian players at Milan. Five of our "starters are Italian. Maldini, Nesta, Pirlo, Gattuso, Gilardino. Then we also have Inzaghi who has become somewhat of a starter as of late and Ambro who when fit starts plenty of games. That is half of our starting eleven guys. The rest of the starters are just top of their class that yes...you can find in Italy as well, but they belong to other teams and wont leave. That is why, if you want succsess you have to look elsewhere for world class. Look at the other top clubs in the world. It is the same thing. Some players of their own country and the rest is just top class from all over. In fact, us and Juve are two of the few top clubs that have half of our starting teams Italian.
It is just the way it is. If you want to be the best in the world, then you have to get the best from the world. And like I said, yes, some of the best in the world are in Italy but some of them we have, and some of them belong to other teams.
