Guys, I am not saying that what you say doesn't make sense or is illogical or whatever.
I do claim however that you are basing your opinions on pretty volatile factors and assumptions - like the one that buying big names/expensive players, must NECESSARILY improve the team - and take it all for given ... and it is anything but

Ok I agree that it feels great when normal players emerge as big guns out of our club but there is nothing negative in buying already emerged players from outside.

like Vogel Marcio not given proper opportunity. Can't say much for Boriello

Stam out - Bonera and Favalli in:
Old injury-prone player replaced by old not so injury-prone player + a young player with great potential.

I am not saying there's anything negative about it, I am just saying that the positives are ASSUMED rather than anything else.
actually, one negative is that clubs often end up wasting lots of money for players that don't live up to teh expectations.

Okay, I'll tell you what. I'll make it easy for you guys who claim this is the worst transfer season ever to prove it to me. Forget about 1927 or the other 99 or so years that none of you actually know anything about. Just explain to me exactly who Milan acquired in 1993 to replace the retiring Marco van Basten and how that transfer season was better than this one. That should be an easy one, right?

rick im 22, my earliest memories are of me singing to Bruce springteen, and going to the san Siro when i was like 3 or something!... I dont know about the last 100 years, but i know for the last 18...

That's fine. And I'm not trying to argue or be pushy. I'm just saying that "ever" is a long time and you probably should choose your words more carefully if you don't actually mean it.

Negatives: We did not reinforce the defence as well as we should have and I was hoping our management would bring in a solid goalkeeper (Buffon or Amelia).

Positives: We got Oliveira who is a mobile and prolific striker. Bonera is a fantastic acquisition. Gourcuff is a talent that we have banked on.

It all depends on how you look at it. When Shevchenko left I said to myself we will try to replace him with a big name to placate the fans. Looking around the options looked pretty thin (no pun intended re: Ronaldo).

Henry- would not leave Arsenal.
Ronaldinho- not a pure striker but one who would cancel out Sheva's departure heartache. Not leaving Barca (yet?).
Torres- Ok...I hate to say this here...but I think Torres is very overrated and overpriced. Just my opinion. And Spanish players fare poorly in Serie A.
Tevez- Admittedly, I saw him as a relatively good option for Sheva. But MSI seems to be a far-reaching thing so maybe, just maybe, this transfer was out of our reach?

So the management did the next best thing...get Oliveira. I have absolutely no problem with this move and if the guy scores 15+ goals in Serie A and about 6+ in Champions League I am sure you guys won't either.


I guess one of the biggest disappointments for me was Zambrotta going to Barca. I really felt that we should have clinched that signing but judging by his admission that he wanted Milan but Juve did not...it makes you wonder.

With that said guys...continuity is not sold in the transfer market and that is something we have. When you compare our record with Real's and Inter's it makes you think that we have maintained a solid core around which we build a team.

Of course, we would like to win something every year but that is unrealistic. The most realistic thing a team can hope for and deliver is to be competitive every year. For that we have to say Milan is probably in the top 5 of most competitive teams in Europe.

2003- CL
2004- Scudetto
2005- Runners-up CL and Serie A
2006- Runners-up in Serie A (well after the Moggipoli no) and SF in CL

That is an enviable record. What would Real, Inter or Man U give for that?
