I wonder if either of Berlusconi's kids are football fans or more importantly Milan fans?
It seems Marina clearly operates in the world she knows best and that's the world of business, economics and finance. She only sees the club as a business and one that loses money, has incredible overheads, doesn't make a great return and sees her dad constantly stumping up cash to sort things out. When you see things in that sense, what she's asking for is natural as that's all she knows. Maybe her views would change if she ever got closer to football or more involved in running a club. In an ideal world, my hope would be Berlusconi donates £1 billion to the club's account and Maldini becomes our president Then the Berlusconi kids can see their dad out of football and get back to earning more money, while Silvio can watch the matches free from stress or responsibility and Milan get the best ambassador our club could possibly have.

Dream on, dream away dear Jim...ideal indeed..but not even slightly likely.
I see Marina´s point though...she is a businesswoman, and not a fan...hence she wont think like one...we cant expect her to...and I think they mayb fearing Berlu dumping 80M pounds on Ronaldinho, plus his salary...as being far too eccentric... (though it sounds like a perfectly sound financial investment to me, especially if we get 3 players for say 20M...to round out 100M in investment )Milan´s value at present is immense...I would say close to 500 million...not something easily sold..and we have to speculate and wonder about a new owner, and the direction he/she will take the club in...there is, however some may dislike it, a time for change, but for those advocating huge scale changes....I leave you with a single admonition:Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it...

![]() As for getting a new owner, given the reality of Italian football - with that I mean less money for the clubs from ticket sales and tv rights compared to Spain and England - the only way we could expect a significant improvement in money flow into the club, is if we go public like Juve did several years ago. But that has it's risks too as we'd have to yield constantly good results in order to keep the stock value high and the shareholders happy ... and we all know what Moggi's solution to that was .The only other way to get more money for players - without changing our marketing strategy and turn into a travelling circus in order to popularise the club in asia and thus sell more Milan products - is hope that a crazy rich guy, who is also a big fan of football, will come out of somewhere and buy us. Problem with this scenario is that most crazy-rich guys are above all businessmen and will not see Milan in a much different way than Marina Berlusconi already does. You know, there aren't many Romans out there who don't seem to care how much money they shovel out for new toys every transfer season ... although, if he gets tired of playing god in London and realizes that greatness and tradition is something that you cannot buy out as it only comes with decades of history and success, he might wanna change the rainy days in London with the hot sight of one of Milan's numerous fashion shows.

![]() With Juve going public in 2001, with the death of Gianni Agnelli in 2003, with the death of his nephew Gianni who was chosen heir at Fiat and Juve in 1997, and especially after Umberto Agnelli died on May 28 2004 problems began in the club. There's no strong family money and influence behind the club. John Elkann, an American born half-Italian, born in 1976 ( younger than Del Piero, Nedved, Birindelli, Kovac etc) is the heir of the bussiness, not too interested in football, and with Juve playing in serie B at the moment, we can see how capable and interested he is. Going public, as Zlat said, can't bring too much success in Italy, and keeping the stock value high constantly ain't an easy thing to do. I can see Berlu's children being football fanatics as much as John Elkann is, and it seems like with Berlu's death ( he's 70, so we can't expect him to run the bussiness for another 20 years) Milan may find itself in big sh!t, like Juve is now. Only hope is if another billionaire, football fanatic and Milan fan buys the club. That will be the solution and keep Milan on top of Europe....otherwise God help you ! |

This phrase sometimes and apllying to some people in some circumstances is right, but not necesserily and not all the time... ![]() Why I have such opinion has a very simple explanation: I come from Russia, where people do so, and do so a lot...also from my husbend I know that in some ways things in Italy are very simmilar to things in Russia. So those are the grounds for my suspicions ![]()

I am well aware on what grounds you are having those suspicions of yours as I come from a very similar background myself ![]() Still, I am not quite sure that the man, who would steal from Silvio and make a fool of him, has been born yet.

Berlusconi collapses during rally
Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has been taken ill during a speech to supporters in northern Italy.
Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has been taken ill during a speech to supporters in northern Italy. Mr Berlusconi, 70, slumped at the podium while delivering a speech at a centre-right rally in Tuscany. Television pictures showed him closing his eyes while talking and slowly collapsing into the arms of his aides. Twice prime minister, Mr Berlusconi has been leader of the opposition since losing power in elections in April. Mr Berlusconi - Italy's richest man - went on trial last week for alleged fraud and money laundering and could face up to 12 years in jail if convicted. He denies all charges against him. The trial is due to resume in Milan on Monday. Several members of Mr Berlusconi's entourage rushed to his aid but he was unable to stand up and had to be carried out of the room. An ambulance arrived at the centre and a nurse said Mr Berlusconi received treatment. A spokesman for Mr Berlusconi said the former prime minister was now on the mend and that he had been overcome by the heat and emotion. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6185514.stm

I'm sure he'll bounce back soon enough, you'd never guess he was 70 by looking at him.
I hope at some stage soon, plans for milan's continuation will begin. Berlusconi can't last forever and his future and the future of all his businesses and companies he has a hand in needs to be addressed. It's something that needs doing, however upsetting it might be to think about, if not we (like alot of his other projects) could be in quite alot of financial chaos.
