i dont agree with retiring number's policy... i hope maldini's number wont be retired and baresi's number is resurrected from retirement!
these players are not kids, they know they are legends.
if baresi's number is retired, rivera's number should have been retired too! and so is maldini's! or probably costacurta's!
bring back number 6 to life!!!!!!

I'd say bring back 6, retire 3 and 5 only for a 5 year period...

then, give those numbers only to players who have been at Milan for over those 5 years and deserve to get them...

for instance, let's say we finally promote a kid from the Primavera, i.e. Marzoratti... give him his 19 jersey and if he does well, by 2011, he can switch to no. 5...

or give Nesta no. 6 if he wants (he's been 13 club level, but 6 at the Nazionale)... and free 13 for a new defender...

just a thought...

Good point mate though I dont think that these players would agree with you so easily... they also has a dream to became a legend of Milan and that their number would be rtired for sometime when they ends career

Personally, if I were a football player I would take #12 and have no inetentions to switch it to for instance #7, #5 or #9

Great post for a great man and he's going on for another year

He signed for an extra year. Alot of respect for Costacurta and he really deserves it for what he has given to Milan, but this is a wrong move by the Milan board. I think we should have brought in a younger defender instead of him.

The only way I would want to see Paolo and Billy go is if we win the Champions League this year, but now obviously Billy has signed another contract, so it won't happen.
