I manage to forget about it for 2 hours sometimes. But then when I remember it I get this sudden rush of emotion, and my heartbeat starts racing.
I am preparing for this Final by talking to you guys, my friends, watching past videos etc. |

Thsi feels like a confession at a psych ward...
They don't have pills for this anxiety? I don't know how I manage to do my school work and house work these days...
I'm not skipping my very important Wednesday class...am making a 'temporary leave of absence from the classroom, due to unfourtunate and irreversible circumstances.' I just need to get my story straight with my mum and the Academy, so I wont get busted sitting in my livingroom crying like a big girl's blouse and freaking out over the opening ceremony. The biggest porblem is that I still have two classes to get through on the 23rd, two classes that require my utmost attention. You can bet that I'll be counting down the nano-seconds in my head. The CL always bring out a different side of me. Simply, I lose all ladylike dignity. Everytime I take a look at my watch, I see the date and right away my mind calculates the days left til the finals and then my eyes roll back and...you can imagine what 2005 did to me. I'm slowly becoming a mess (my dad's not too worried...yet) and the day before the finals, I probably won't sleep. ah, but that's what makes the experience doesn't it? |

What do I do?
I eat little, sleep less, (unless assisted by certain herbs and spices) and worry more and more....I put on my Milan shirts every time I go to play, and prepare myself for the game, and the mindset that I need to have firmly in place by the 23rd.I have alternating periods of excitement, worry, and then a resurgence of belief..."lightning doesnt strike in the same place twice" is the mantra that I chant when I am both at the lowest, and highest moments of mental fortitude. I visit MM, and read the posts of people who are going thru somthing similar, and pity those, like my friend Mystik, who cannot get to watch the match live, while hoping that I dont regret watching the game (the match is on labour day in JA, a public holiday) live.... I watch us play in the league, and hope that our best performances are repeated in Athens, and that our poor play isnt present there for not even one second. I play with my 2 year old, help my 14 year old with his homework, while trying, unsucessfully to place Milan, and the final in the dim recesses of my mind... I play FIFA 07, with Milan, in Manager mode..though I am in my 2rd or 3rd season now, having won all trophies in all competitions..then I play vs Liverpool in a one off...just to feel the emotions of beating them, in 90 simulated minutes... I throw myself into reading (The song of Fire and Ice, book 3), to take me completely away from this world, and into another, for as long as I can read undisturbed...(which is a very short period of time, condidering that I have a 2 year old terrorist in my house) I pray to God to give us the victory, even if I know that he doesnt really like football...(if God were a football fan, then there would be no losers) ![]() I cling to the knowledge that on paper, we have a better team, we play better football, and are most deserving...but remind myself that victory isnt guaranteed anyone over 90 minutes... Then I think of the final itself: I think of Dida and the high balls, and crosses that I am sure Liverpool will resort to, and whether or not Crouch will score a hat-trick on 3 Dida mistakes... I think of Mascherano not allowing Kaka a moment on the ball, and Liverpool scoring on the counter... I think of Seedorf cracking in a morale inspiring 30 yard strike, and watching Gerrard wither as Kaka, and Gila both score in the last minute of each half to gift us an emphatic victory... I think of Maldini lifting the trophy, as I watch through tear inspired blurry vision.....and then I feel a little better. FORZA MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILAN!!

I've got an exam on Monday and Friday next week, and an essay to hand in on Wednesday. I should do okay if I get organised.
I'll definitely be really tense during the game, also being scared of how jammy Liverpool are. I'll probably be in a Portsmouth pub full of LUFC fans too! But no scared enough to wear my Milan shirt ... |

Rui Costa has always been a class act in my books, and he still is!!!
Rui Costa cheering on Milan Saturday 19 May, 2007 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Manuel Rui Costa has urged his former Milan teammates to beat Liverpool in the Champions League Final. “Do it for me too!” The Portuguese midfielder was on the field when the Rossoneri lost on penalties after a 3-3 draw in 2005 in Istanbul and even though he has moved on, he has not forgotten that bond. “Who, like me, has had the fortune to live in the Milan family does not forget and never stops feeling a part of it,” he told the official club website. “I understood that when I returned to Benfica, a very sentimental choice that took me back to my roots and was a dream I had since I was a child and first left Lisbon. “Milan enters your veins and never goes away, so I want to tell everyone at the club that my heart will be with all of you in Athens.” Just two years after that fateful day when a 3-0 lead was frittered away in the space of six minutes, the Diavolo have the opportunity to take revenge by facing Liverpool again on May 23. “I am proud of what you have been able to achieve in this incredibly difficult season and I know you’ll close it with the class and the courage that only Milan can express in these ‘special moments!” continued Rui Costa. “So beat Liverpool, and it will be a small revenge for me as well. Good luck!” http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...ia/may19g.html

My soccer coach just scheduled a meeting Wednesday. Of course, the games start right when I get out of school, so I'll be missing a few minutes of it.
He's not good at scheduling for me, he also entered us in the huge tournament the day Harry Potter 7 releases, luckily I dont have to. I sent him and e-mail, so hopefully he changes it. |
