On an unrelated note, the belusconi-galliani kool-aid is delicious.
Oh OK, so why was everybody saying that we need to sign a striker, as Ronaldo is injured and Gila sucks? Oh wait, we have too much depth in attack.

On the midfield, we certainly needed the arrival of Emerson as a back-up. And btw, and trust me on this, Emerson's passing is nowhere near Pirlo's ability in that discipline. Emerson is a solid and hardworking midfielder but he has a completely different playing style than that of Pirlo. If he can pass like that in his sleep, how come it is Pirlo that lays in the first 11 and not Emerson?

Defence? We are good enough at the center, but we need another left back...Janku has been doing a pretty good job lately, but in case he gets hurt/suspended, there is only Serginho(unless we move Kaladze from the center to the left) and due to his age & bench-warmer status, he is too much of a liability, especially if we have to rely on him for more than a game or two.

I have no problems with Dida, although he is not at his best every single game (I still think he is good enough)... However, long-term reliance on Kalac in case of injuries could turn out to be rather disastrous.

POINT OF THE MATTER IS, WE DO NOT HAVE TOO MUCH DEPTH! On the contrary, this lack of depth is one of the few issues on which most members of MilanMania agree...

P.S. Emerson is a player similar characteristics to Gattuso and Ambro, rather than Pirlo. Surely, he can be really very good as a DMC, I am not disputing you on that, but he obviously doesn't have the passing game Pirlo does, and his passing ability has been one of the key components of our success for the past few years

slicknick, jpick was being sarcastic NOBODY thinks Emerson can pass like Pirlo..that alone should have explained it

yeah, my bad slicknick, i didn't think i would be taken seriously .

I have been wanting a solid vice-pirlo for quite some time, as when his form drops through fatigue or injury, milan's form drops. case in point, 2004/2005 when he got hurt in january 2005 iirc, and we had to rush him back cause we were struggling without him. after that ancelotti really preached how "pirlo is irreplaceable, we have nobody who can do his job," etc.

I thought this season we might have gotten ze roberto on a free, which if he would have been fine as a role player, would have been great as a vice-pirlo, but alas he went to bayern as though he is old, he still has some quality left in him. this lack of a back-up for pirlo is one of the reasons i think we will struggle to compete on both the cl and scudetto fronts, though i will keep my fingers crossed regardless. you are right, though, emerson is nothing like pirlo.

cheers

Sorry J, my bad... I feel like a complete idiot now First I thought you were joking but I wasn't sure either...Plus, you never know if one's joking unless they put the appropirate signs/smilies. There are so many of those who have pretty unorthodox vies, so I had decided that you were serious...
Hope you did not take it personal

But i will let Kris do his work with the Italians....
I didn't mention Giovinco since you own him, I just can't see you let this gem move to us. For the same reason I didn't mention Inters Bolzoni.

Fernando Forestieri. An Italian/Argentinian that Genoa brought ot Italy last season. I heard he is with Siena now. I have not seen him myself, but he is said to be of tremendeous talent and being better than Aguero at the same age. although players like this can easily be overblown.

I saw in this other thread that we had an option on Andrea Raggi in Empoli, this 23 year old have really impressed me the times I seen him. Lots of energy and fight in this one and a good cross.

cigarini apparently had another good game for parma (though i didn't see the whole match), and he was excellent also for the u21s. he seems to be turning into a fine player. I wish we had bought him, or at least half of him for the future.

kris, did you have any more info about russotto?

Very mistake prone, though, but it comes with the age i guess.
Coaches have very good opinion about him because he's a real fighter and he always looks like he's ready to play 180 minutes at the same level.

But even though he's not slow at all, he has trouble dealing with fast players, from what i've seen of him. I noticed this few times watching him in Empoli and he was a real disaster on euro-21 against England and Ashely Young.

Luigi Cagni considers him irreplaceable and Casiraghi was always full of praises.
With the good relations between Milan and Empoli i won't be surprised at all if i see him in Milan one day.

Milan actually got an agreement to sign him for next season during the summer if i'm not mistaken, although I doubt we will, especially if we can get "insert name of old, average footballer due to retire/end of contract, not worthy of playing for Milan, but Galliani likes him as he's cheap & experienced" pile of crap.

Bosnian League does not have any really big club materials, there is few promissing youngsters out in Europa.

Miralem Pjanic he plays for Metz, he is 17 year old attacking midfielder/stricker.

Edin Dzeko plays for Wolsburg and he is 20 year old striker.

I doubt they will ever play for Milan, I hope they do.

About Croatian league...

Right now the best player is Luka Modric, and hje plays a central midfielder for Dinamo Zagreb and in Croatian national team. But becouse of his body built. and non EU passport I doubt he'll ever be a Milan target. Aldough he is a good player that can play in big teams, I doubt milan will ever look at him, or that we actually need him.

Tomislav Rukavina who is 21 I think is a Hajduk Split striker and looks promislin, reminds of Boksic a bit. He still needs to work on his game but coaches say he ahs the talent. Im not particulary convinced about his goalscoring abilitias but the sometimes showes some flashes of real class.

Kalinić, also from Hajduk, is a 19 year old striker, who is not that skilfull as Rukavina but plays with more power. Has a bright future for sure.

I dont think that there are any more players in our league right now that have the potential to play in some big club. Corluka, now in City looks great for a 21 year old defender, but he is in City now.

I agree on Modric,Kalinic and Rukavina.....I really like Vukojevic from dinamo too, great talent, but needs time and work

And when we are talking about the croatian league,I think its worth to mention the two Brazilians SAMMIR and Etto....both really great prospects, especially the first one, whom I consider to become a very influential player, his a good mix of Modric and Eduardo.

he played pretty well in the coppa italia the first couple of rounds, but with the late addition of adailton, he is relegated to a bench role for now at least. at least that was what i gather from the match reports.

What's your opinion on Acquafresca? TBH, I am so out of it nowadays - I don't have time to watch any games at all... but it sounds like he was tipped to be the next big thing.

We need to consolidate our GK position... we have Dida, Kalac and Fiori here...
Fiori is there to help with the trainings... but we have

Storari (Levante)
Abbiati (Atletico de Madrid)
Coppola (Atalanta)

so that's 6 GK... and no one seems to be fully satisfied with any... although I think Dida does his job.

We don't have any outstanding GK in the Primavera... I say sell Abbiati and Coppola...
bring back Storari as sub for a year...

there's a good talent in Mexico's NT... Guillermo Ochoa... he's like 21 and with a lot of experience (WC, like 3 Libertadores, under 23 NT, will play Olympics)... problem is the EU passport...
