but dont forget that Kaka and Pirlo can very easily get away from their Markers...

and Pirlo so rarely falls from tackles so that gives him an advantage over defenders...

and if he falls... then we get a freekick, both ways he wins the ball

He is Milan !! You probably think I'm mad, but when Pirlo plays badly like this year, there is no more link between our defense, our midfield and our attack. It's like if we had 2 or worst, 3 different teams on the pitch.

ACMILAN1983 is true (argh, 2nd time I have to say that in 2 days !! lol), we have to find another kind of play when Pirlo isn't there, simply because Pirlo is the kind of player who is impossible to replace by putting another "lambda player". He is unique, like are Kaka', Messi, C.Ronaldo, Gerrard, etc (not a big list). When they're not there, the whole team has problems.
There are players out there who is simular to Pirlo in style. Simply no one is even nearly as good as him.

well to me it seems that his best games are with italy, and his free kicks and corners have been brutal recently ( juventus game) he doesnt even get the corner over the 1st defender sometimes. Im not saying that goucuff can replace him, but if we drafstically change our lineup (dinho, amauri, sheva, or aquilani) we really dont need him anymore...

unless we find a player who can manage the defensive and offensive play of our team, then we dont need Pirlo...

cuz really, he has been the player behind most of our goal scoring chances

Pirlo is already in all time Italy XI. He is football. A drop of form can't waste his career or talent. All great movie directors did their share of bad movies. All the artists made minor works.

Aquilani to replace Pirlo ? You must be joking...I think too many people has the Aesthethic of Names syndrome...the more exotic or hyped the name of the player get, the more they drool.
An example ? Van der Vaart. People on MM wanted Galliani to splash dozen of millions to sign him just because the name "Van der Vaart" was supposed to be cool inside the line up. I'm not joking.

Good one Gio, I think some of us had thought about it, but none had said it best, or said it at all...

"Van de Vaart" in white, over bright red, and black stripes... aaaah, sounds nice, doesn't it?

Sometimes it's not just the name, but the looks of the player...

Pirlo stays, Seedorf Goes, simple as that. Pirlo should however be taken ou of that defensive role.

And i agree his frekicks and corners are not that good.

This is an interesting point. And it is true.

I think we can put Gila in that category, as well.

I don't think Gilardino is in that cathegory. Add an "h" and Gilardinho would be 10 m + worthy.

Fans like the "idea" of new players, just for the sake of it. Many fans ask for new players without even having actually watched them play. You see that when some names get all of a sudden fashionable.

There's a big aesthetic issue on football. The player's image can drive them to success or not. A player like Pirlo will never win an international award, because he comes from a small town on the Alps. He's not fashionable enough. The names represents the players, especially on internet. In some ways, the name is the player (especially in the written system of internet). People love a player or not firstly starting from his name.

A few years ago, you could ask any Milan fans if they wanted a guy called Toni, who played for Brescia. They would have replied you : "WTF " ! If the same player would have been called Van der Tony or Thonelaar i'm sure many fans would have reacted differently.

True 'dat. I can probably put up a list of over 25 players, people have been baying for since I got here, and almost every one of them either did nothing or next to nothing after we didn't buy them.
Come to think of it, that's make a good topic...

Pirlo... He's irreplaceable. If he left then we will have to play wingers...
