Buffon was never going to come over here anyway, so I'm not sure why people keep dwelling on it.

Silvio stands by his men Monday 7 April, 2008
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Silvio Berlusconi has given Milan tactician Carlo Ancelotti a vote of confidence and has faith in his squad, even if he is eyeing reinforcements. There have been suggestions that Ancelotti’s reign will come to an end this summer should he fail to clinch fourth place and Champions League football. However, it seems that President Berlusconi feels a thin squad is the cause of the Diavolo’s disappointing campaign. “Ancelotti is part of the Milan family and I expect him to be here in the coming years,” he said on Radio Radio. “But a great side has to have more champions. “We had to deal with the serious injury to Ronaldo and this team was built on having a battering ram like him up front with Alexandre Pato and Kaka in behind creating things. “Still, we have a squad full of great players, even if they are getting older. Paolo Maldini will probably retire, but we aren’t ageing too badly. We just need to look to youth for our reinforcements.” Meanwhile, the Rossoneri are reportedly closing in on a deal for unsettled Barcelona star Ronaldinho. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have prepared a four-year contract to offer the Brazilian star and they will present it to his brother and agent Roberto Assis within the week. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had to laugh at the highlighted bit! Poor Silvio, sometimes i think he sees the team through rose-tinted glasses and doesn't want to believe that alot of the players aren't up to it anymore ... maybe when he watches he still sees Van Basten up front with Gullit behind, when in reality it's Gilardino & Seedorf! Bless him ![]()

When a great club with big talents playing with big money paid on them and for them is talking about winning the Intertoto club???!!! My God for your -the fans'- sake, you get 4th place but if you don't you will be the laughing stock of not only Italy, or Europe, but the world

lol?
i dont understand why Milan would be a laughing stock of the World... Should I remind you that Milan have the best record in European(behind Real) and world tournaments... unlike other teams that can only win their league title *hint hint* besides... Juve got demoted to Serie B... LOOK WTF THEY ARE DOING NOW! and they destroyed the so-called best team of Serie A, the unbeatable team... so shshshshshshsh!(yep, still talking about Juve..) |

Though we aren't the laughing stock of the world even if we fail to qualify for CL, I was incensed to read Galliani's Intertoto comments, it's simply embarassing for the club to talk about participating in such a trophey in that way.

Guys, Buffon had an informal agreement with Galliani, but Berlusconi believes that 30-40 millions are too much for a keeper.
In Italy many people think that the best teams of history didn't have great keepers or more than average and that to achieve throphies you don't need the n.1 in the world. There's some truth in that, considering we had Giovanni Galli and Sebastiano Rossi in our golden age, who were cool but not at the level of Buffon.

That is true Giovanni but that does not mean that having the #1 in the world would make the theory fail! But yeah I agree, all we need is just a good keeper..but Gigi certainly wouldn't hurt...
Berlusconi until today regrets not signing Maradona, I think in a few years he will be regretting that he never signed Buffon because Gigi is the best keeper of all time, I've no doubt about that. (now ppl r gonna say have u actually seen the other keepers play, and yes I have) |

Gigi is the best GK I have ever seen, and silvio made a mistake, huge mistake, for not signing him if he could have done so. He is not just a great GK, he leads complete defence and it somehow always looks like you just cant score. Silvio shouldnt have been to cheap here. Same thing goes to rejecting Luca Toni. Looks like vallets are being tighter these last few seasons then years before, but we still need to be thankfull to our president.
Now go and sign Ronaldinho and Alves! ![]()
