Personally i think PES is way too arcade-ish and very cartoony, I think fifa 08 wiped the floor with PES last year and by the looks of things it will do it again this year. About the game play I've noticed that EA like to faff around with this, I've played the demo of FIFA 09 and i find it to be more fluid and responsive quite enjoyed it.

FIFA07 and FIFA08 are pretty much the same and were somewhat good, but considering gameplay, PES totally whooped the floor with FIFA last year(pes08) and i am actually getting sick from EA's refs, they are only 3d models running, no wait, they're not even running they're only 3D models interfering with the gameplay and making it ugly, while PES have put life into those refs and linesmen. FIFA09 was the biggest blow in the FIFA series so far, and i can tell you, EA are going to suffer bad from their lack of new ideas, and especially that PES09 has the license it lacked(they lost some but hey, they're trying) and they also got the CL in it, hence instead of releasing two games and make epic money from it, Konami decided they will release "2 games" in one and make the game more enjoyable. bottom line is : EA is losing it, they should just shut down their company or start coming with new ideas otherwise, Konami and such companies will take over and EA will eventually bankrupt! |

I've played both FIFA09 and PES2009 and must say I think FIFA's got the better game this time around. I was really disappointed at PES, which seems to have improved graphics, but gameplay hasn't changed much. This has resulted in the gameplay feeling awkward and disjointed as it doesn't seem to match the graphical changes. It's not a major difference to the past, but feels clunky in comparison.
FIFA on the other hand seems to have made strides. Gameplay is much more fluid and responsive and whilst the control scheme takes getting used to (like the power bar for passing), it becomes quite nifty when picking out players and passes. The AI is the biggest improvement now, as tactically the game feels much more realistic (even more than PES) and the runs players make are more clever. I played with Borriello and he was excellent as a target man, who I regularly used to hold up the ball for Kaka and Dinho. Kaka was more direct than Dinho and made runs through, whilst Dinho drifted wide more and came deeper. I thought the game was actually a superb representation of the real game. I've preferred PES for a decade over FIFA, but this time around, in my mind the tables have definitely turned. |

FIFA09 isnt up for my liking and many more agree.. but anyway its only my opinion
![]() Besides, the Become A Legend mode simply beats every aspect of FIFA's Be A Pro ![]() |

![]() Fifa 09 is much much better then the latest 2 PES games. I've been a PES fan for years and Fifa totally sucked untill last years fifa 08. And PES has lost it, I dont know why but the older pes games are much better than the latest 2 versions. Pes never had the better graphics or as much teams in the game as fifa, but you played it for its fantastic gameplay! I miss those days, playing pes against friends, those were real fights. I hope pes comes back on the right track again, but for now Fifa is much better |

you probably played pes more than i did and you also probably noticed that its gameplay is worse than fifa's, but again, i've been playing fifa for a long time now, and its gameplay is on a downfall since FIFA07... how come FIFA07 and FIFA08 are so similar to each other? lack of ideas? lack of good developers? well god knows, but i can tell you than Konami is always getting the better fan base and will do so until the FIFA team put some brains into their heads! NOTE: I am talking about the PC versions here, i have never played the console versions as i do not own one.. |

I think Ace has the best idea to just try the demos. Personally, I preferred FIFA this time around (I wrote a couple of posts comparing the two earlier in this thread).
