I meant to say that if you take two people: one whose wealth is spread across various industries like oil, banking, manufacturing etc and the other whose wealth is entirely linked to oil prices. The wealth of the former is less susceptible to fluctuations.

For instance, the recent Dubai crisis severely affected Dubai real estate. So those who invested the majority of their wealth in Dubai real estate must have suffered.
