Reports in Italy claim Lippi will replace Leonardo for next season if he fails to win the Champions League...

Italy coach Marcello Lippi has been tipped to join Milan after the World Cup, according to speculative reports.

Tuttomercatoweb.com claims the 'Studio Sport' news programme on Wednesday suggested Lippi was heading to Milan after the summer tournament in South Africa.

The report comes on the day club president Silvio Berlusconi fired a warning shot at coach Leonardo.

Berlusconi claimed the team has the potential to win everything, but only if those in charge of it allow the players to flourish.

Milan's loss to Manchester United in the Champions League has caused concern, fuelling speculation that Leonardo's future is in doubt.

Lippi is expected to leave la Nazionale following Italy's participation at the World Cup.

Last month both he and FIGC president Giancarlo Abete claimed his future as coach of Italy would be decided before this summer's showpiece event.

Yeah Lippi will take over and Berlusconi will let him sign everyone he wants , because we will have no problem bringing Cannavaro , Luca Toni , Camoranesi and we already have Pirlo Rino and Zambro so Lippi and Berlu will be happy how much will they cost 2 million.

To be fair to Lippi he is not as set on older players as people make believe, as the NT boss they were the best he had to work with he does give chances to the younger players if they impress like Santon and Rossi, there is Pazzini as well who is not an "Old" player to name a few.

What's the point about using the young players during friendlies and qualifying games when he will probably take his favourite Del Piero, call back Totti and Nesta (for Nesta, it would be good news for the NT), Toni or Inzaghi (not both), joining Cannavaro, Gattuso (I put his name but not because he is old, just because he will surely come instead of Ambrosini) ...

These experienced players will take the place of some young players (Del Piero for Rossi for example, Toni/Inzaghi for Pazzini, Totti for Montolivo or ... or ... umh all depends on how Lippi wants to use Totti, etc etc).

The "young" players who will be taken will be Pepe, Quagliarella, Candreva, this kind of players (for me, there are a lot of better players in Italy).

I'm a bit harsh and probably react a bit too much there but it is a possible scenario ...

I like to follow Italy in tournaments because Ireland never qualify , and Lippi does have options he most probably will take the same team as 2006 with a few changes like the 2008 euro's and we all know how that worked out , who should he take I don't know just not Totti , Camoranesi , Toni , Del Piero , Gattuso they won't retain the World Cup with these players.

But on topic give Leo 70 million to spend and see what he does , he is a good coach and could be great but maybe he'll leave before he is pushed he can't do anything with the squad he has now.

More chance Mourinho will come next season than Lippi, hehe

I think it's just speculation based on Berlusconi's comments, although he's said the same kinda stuff about Ancelotti for years, and he stuck around for a while.

I hope and think Leo will stay. He's doing great, but need some money to work with.

i agree i think Leo has done quite well so far and definitely desreves a bigger budget than the ZERO he got this summer, but there is one thing that i hold againts him and that is the very little usage of FLAMINI!!!
I mean, we all analyze Milan's losses this year, and we almost always agree that the main reason in all has been that our midfield was overrun by the opponents' and that if we had the money we probably should get a tireless young midfielder who can run for 90 mins, cover at the back, and support the attack when needed...WE ALREADY HAVE HIM

Very good point... our Midfield cant run for 90 mins... after 60 min their legs and mind get tired...

i think like the above guys have said Flamini should be the new Gattuso (when i saw new gattuso i mean 90 mins running and closing down) for us, he also provides a small chance of scoring from midfield which is something Rino never could do for us.

Agreed. Besides, it's a little too late for Berlu to act like he actually cares about the team now.

Gremio defender Rodrigo Ely is being tracked by AC Milan.

Milan have been following the 16 year-old prospect since last March and are keen to bring him to Italy this year.

Zero Hora says Milan are already preparing to complete Ely's signing and are busy putting together the right passport and international clearance documentation for the player.
