L'annuncio a Mondiale finito.

____

Well, it seems that the deal is already done.

Atletico Name Torres Price - 40 Million

Atletico Madrid have slapped a 40 million Euro price tag on their prized asset, being tracked by the likes of Manchester United and Milan, among others.....

Atletico Madrid's summer has been geared towards rebuilding, under the guidance of former Osasuna boss Javier Aguirre.

They are not keen to let their skipper go, as they make yet another attempt at regaining lost prestige.

But Aguirre realises that a serious offer will have to be considered, as it will allow the club, not only to balance books, but also strengthen the squad in various other positions.

And reports suggest 40 million Euros is what would convince them to let Torres go.

The valuation was said to be closer to 30 earlier, but Torres's form at the World Cup, and the interests of Manchester United and Milan - the latter reportedly already happy to bid 30 million - has prompted them to aim higher.

I read the same thing as Maji tz this morning. 40 million seems a little excessive. Parma had also asked for 35-40 million for gila last yr, yet we paid 24 to acquire his services. I hope that the deal has been signed as reported earlier. We need to move on from the sheva stigma. We still have kaka, gila, pippo, and the much maligned though not as bad as he is made out to be Amoroso. We need to get 1 or 2 offensive minded players then start focusing on defence, especially the wing back position. I believe that both sides should be addressed, not just the right. On the left, sergio is 34, Favalli 35, the captain 38, and Kaladze now is a full-time center-back. We also need a powerful all-purpose midfielder. I really wanted ambro to fill that role but sadly he is made of glass. I also think we need an upgrade over Dida, but I think we can live with dida for another yr or so.

40 million is too expensive... yet torres is not a proven stricker in serial a n CL. maybe that wat the press say as sheva cost chelsea 50 to 60 million is allowed a move.and gila 35m before that. if can get 20m then it will just be nice n the rest 10m can be invested in defender

Where is this coming from? A link is always helpful, you know
Even the previous reports of 30 mil didn't sound too good to my ears but 40 mil for a striker who's yet to prove himself at the big stage, that's just ridiculous IMO.
We did get Gila for 24 but in that case Gila wanted to stay in Italy, not only that he waned Milan, and Parma simply had to sell to balance the books. So, all in all, Parma didn't have much of a choice.
This situation is totally different as I doubt Torres has sold his heart to Milan and a move to manU to him is probably all the same as a move to Milan.
At this point in time, I would be more than happy with getting Cassano and Crespo for next season. These two shouldn't cost us more than 10-15 mil both. Saviola and Suazo are excellent options too, I think.

If a club like AC Milan cannot pay for the best players, then I really don't know what the current board is aiming to do, for Chrissake...

So, what's next - 180 mil for Messi and 150 for Ronaldinho? Hmm, Silvio should be able to afford that by selling one of his businesses or better yet, by selling Milan

30, 40 M for a top class striker is the current reality of football's market, one cannot do nothing against it... so you must deal with that, or conform to get second rate material, a situation not wished by any REAL Milan fan...

I do agree with GRE NO LI that 4oM for a top striker is not that excessive amount.

Moreover.....that's what Uncle Berlusconi presence are for...otherwise he'd better stay in his mansion and enjoy his cigars and wine...

More likely Torres's price will be somewhere around 30mil, which is ok price for him. And we need to ismply pay off this. WE will not spend 150 mil on messi or Ronaldinho, GRENOLI is just saying we need to behave like real contenders and splash some cash now and then.

Well said , if we want to stay on top we got to spend money that´s a fact.
p.s. Please dont mention Inter and their way of spending, they have never (from 90 and on) had a whole great team, just one or two players.
