Altobelli sees Vieri at Milan
Friday 1 July, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Inter legend Alessandro Altobelli says he wouldn’t be surprised to see Christian Vieri sign for Milan following his Nerazzurri split.

The striker mutually agreed to cancel his Inter contract on Friday and the race for his signature has already begun.

"If he has decided to terminate a deal worth £17m then it is because he has received an interesting offer, perhaps from Milan," the former striker told Datasport.

"Am I joking? No, I’m being very serious and ready to put a wager on it. I don’t think he’ll join Juventus, I doubt he’ll move to Spain or England. Vieri will go to Milan!"

The Rossoneri could in theory make a bid for Vieri, seeing their problems in trying to keep Chelsea owned Hernan Crespo and signing Alberto Gilardino from Parma.

Vieri scored 122 goals in six seasons for the club, just six less than Altobelli, but his exit hasn’t surprised the former Azzurri ace.

"A love-hate relationship had developed over the past few years and it was clear that it would end like this," added the 1982 World Cup winner. "He was also contested by some fans."

The Coppa Italia holders have undoubtedly lost a good player but Altobelli still sees life after Vieri.

"Inter won’t have a problem in attack without Christian," he added. "Boss Roberto Mancini still has Obafemi Martins, Alvaro Recoba, Julio Cruz and Adriano."
This is one transfer I wouldnt want to see....

I dont think I have ever liked Vieri...he seems to disappear in big games, or worse, waste chances.

He hates the bench, even when he does nothing to deserve to start...while he is undoubtedly talented, I would much rather seeing him at Tottenham or another Premiereship team, as they play his type of game. Long balls and crosses.

Please, please, not Vieri.

May be tgcom can answer some of your questions. :

Just read below and dream:

in my opinion, any striker is better than tomasson which means he must leave milan! vieri is still better than inzaghi and tomasson. we need a true winger! i am tired of milan cant attack from the wing. serginho is our only true winger, but he was not used often.

we loaned abbiati out and signed eleftheropoulos.. it is ok, bring in fresh face in GK. Seems like either vieri or gilardino will join milan, or even both of them. Vieri is still one of the best even though he is 32 and lost in form. Usually, the inter unwanted players become rejuvenated in milan. Let's see what happens in a week or less. 'an old and lazy' vieri is still better than tomasson! Please kick out tomasson!!!!! sorry!

FORZA MILAN!!!

Shevchenko to leave next season !

This one will get you all talking. According to the Spanish press, Milan will allow Shevchenko to leave and join Chelsea for 80 million euros next season. Shevchenko didn't want to leave this season because of the up coming world cup and didn't want any needless disruptions to effect his country sealing a place in the finals. Aparantly there will be no obstructions by Milan to let him go and join Abramovich in 2006-2007.

With the money Milan will try to get Ronaldinho and possibly Puyol also. They will also replace Ancelotti with either Van Basten (who is the favourite although he has no experience) or raid Barcelona for a third time for Rijkaard (my personal favourite )

The article is on calciomercato

This would be a major step backwards in my opinion. Agreed it's only rumours, but such powerful rumours should not be ignored or completely dismissed.

Well, would've thought you, as a Milan-fan, had understood by now that Shevchenko isn't for sale, at any price.
Be calm and rest assured, he'll stay at Milanello 'till the day he retires.
