AC Milan (Europeon champs) vs SL benfica tuesday 18th

I watched the Barca match...and though they looked unstoppable...they do have some weaknesses at the back, that the Lyon attackers failed to exploit, as they held on to the ball too long...enabling Barca to get players back...

Anyone see the Arsenal game? They won by 3-0 as well....

Give Recoba a raise at Torino.

Then buy 6 more midfielders.

Then get Guido Rossi to work his magic and increase the second round to 17 teams.

Then trade Zanetti for Zaccardo (like R. Carlos for Pistone).

Finally, sell us Adriano.

I was watching 3 games at once (BArca, Roma and Sporting), but could nt get Arsenal's game.

Barca did look terrific. Right now ... they are in the beggining of the season, peaking too soon?

This is how helpless Inter were tonight.
The only way to stop Fenerbahce from totally dominating was to eat the ball and hide it from the Turks.

I saw Barca match and I dont see them playing so brilliantly. They are super strong, yes, but Lyon was simply horrible today, as they are always this season. Only thing I envy Barca for is Zambrotta. . .

Ronaldinho - horrible.

Lyon's performance did help them a lot, but they were brilliant, you can't say they weren't (i don't know how can anyone say they weren't amazing tonight)
It's true that a great team can hurt them but it will take 101% to beat them this year in CL.
Just look at their team and the way they play (forget some minor league matches. Milan also play horrible sometimes in serie A ) .
I guess we watch the game differently because i think Dinho was perfect tonight (he wasn't substituted because he was bad, far from that). He and Abidal were raping Lyon's right back. Dinho let Messi to be the star of the night and he was only creating space for the others..... but he did it brilliantly. And he still did show magic once or twice (that pass to Messi... class).

They are #1 favorites, together with Milan. Of course,this is CL, a bad day and they're out, but with Barca you really don't know where does the danger comes from. Henry up-front with Messi and Dinho on the sides ( helped by Zambrotta and Abidal on the flanks and Deco and Xavi from the middle) can always create at least 5 100% chances, i'm sure about that.
Defensively..... i don't know why did Warro say they've shown weaknesses tonight when Lyon couldn't create a single chance. Zambrotta and Abidal deserved 10.00 , while Milito and Marquez ( don't forget Puyol and Thuram) , with Toure as a DMC stopped all attempts Lyon to get close to Valdez.

This team is better than the team that won CL in 2006. They have 4 new players in starting XI and they still need a little more time to gel (especially Henry). And when they do that..... i pitty their opponents.
Don't like them at all but it was amazing what i've seen from them tonight.


P.S : And since i'm right and they really were great , i have to conclude that all the ones who say they aren't something special are only afraid of them

As much as I want Milan to win the champions league, I do hope the team that we meet in the final be chelsea. Just like it was mentioned earlier, Barcelona looks unstoppable, but we can take them. I truly believe in teams peaking early in this competition, so I believe its good we did not go out there last night and score four or five goals: we will build up to great things. Im just worried with the curse of the back to back winner, because no one has done it in so long........

the last team to do it was Milan who had Paolo Maldini has a promising youngster so he knows what it takes. I think we can but I think we need more depth in January. Oddo was so important to our CL win, imagine we had Cafu for the knock out phases! I think we can make a couple of key signings come January, I dont think we will keep a 100% record or anything close to it until winter. Unfortunately, we are playing really bad in Serie A and I expect the same next weekend, but lets just hope for the three points.

About Barca, yes they are too strong and they are almost perfect, paradoxically(sp?) that is IMO why they will not win Milan need to be off the favourites list for us to win, that is when we perform best. I say lets lose the next 2 games in CL for us to come back in rage in the knock-out phases

Nothing, nothing is better than this AC Milan side when our backs are against the wall. When we are favourites however, that is a different situation and it could go both ways.

I don't know though. The Messi-Dinho, Henry, Deco front made some very creative plays...

Whether Lyon played like crap or not, Barca still looked really good.

I got the first half but couldnt make it for the second - was a great game just pure attacking football.

Tony I dont think Barca are a team to fear, they can and will be beaten by a team with European pedigree (Milan, Liverpool etc) as they look vulnerable sometimes. But you could say after after Milan and Arsenal if I wanted a team to win it would probably be Barca for the simple reason that I want one player to end up with a CL before he hangs up his boots.

I think that barca will fall sooner or later, no doubts. Maybe not in group stages, but later in knockouts. If some tactical team takes them up they will fall apart - they can still win, but they will struggle alot (another thing is i think Rijkaard cannot react properly). They can create 5 100% chances but with henry and messi upfront they can miss 10 of that. Fearsome attack, but organized teams can punish them more that they can swallow.

They did play great, kudos to them... still i agree with Hitmann on that one.
