This reminds me of the same situation when Ibrahimovic was about to leave Juventus. Most people here didn't want him because he was coming from a bad season. Then he went to Inter and won them a few titles. All of a sudden he was god again.
People, you win the Serie A against Lecce and Catania. Not against Inter and Roma. It's a fact. And Ibrahimovic BEATS this teams on his own at times. Yes he does disappear in big CL games sometimes but that's why we have another 10 players to make that up. Players that live for these kind of games. (like Seedorf )What I am trying to say is that I simply can't believe that we have a chance to sign one of the best strikers in the world for the past 6-7 years (and presently as well) and people are complaining claiming someone else (Dzeko). Yes, Dzeko would be nice. Younger, ready to explode on the world stage for a big club, Milan fan.....etc, etc, etc. But be real. We won't spend 35-40mil on him and Wolfsburg won't sell him for less. So forget about him. Here you have a chance to sign one of the great strikers in the world (who by the way IMO is a better player then Dzeko RIGHT NOW) and yet you want something else and aren't happy. Guess fans are never happy. ![]()

I don't know, is it just because he's Italian ? Is it because the guy just signed for one of our rivals (so, some kind of jealousy because they signed someone) ? He's never been great, at best, he was good, but never exploded, and all these injuries, this guy is no more a football player, he hasn't played for more than 3 months in a row since years !! And he is already 26, the guy's always been labelled like a "future great Italian midfielder", but the fact is that if he had to be this great Italian midfielder, it would be now, not in 3-4 years, just right now, at 26, he should already be great. IMO, Aquilani can't be a player we should sign for 2 main reasons: - doesn't have the required level to play in Milan (it's my opinion about him) - very very very very ... very very very very injury prone Having Aquilani in the team is like having a ghost in the team.

Only thing I agree with you is that he is very, very.... injury prone. Considering quality, right now ts better to have him then Gattuso. Maybe Rino will show Im wrong, I hope so.

yeah everybody knows Aquilani has legs made out of cotton candy, but then again if we did sign him it would be another excuse for people to slag off the Milan lab again now Kaka has gone.

The reason some of us, me included, made fun of it in the past is because how much management kept bragging about it. For a while they treated it the same way they keep saying this current squad is full of champions.

i know that Reza, i was kinda making the hint that some people are never happy unless they have something to complain about, on a slight off topic but still relating to what i stated originally, there are football clubs going out of business in England, peoples familys traditions going down the drain because of the money been sucked out of the game and all we can seem to do is complain we wont spend 40 million to buy 3 players, i speak as somebody who follows my local football team as well where £750,000 is a massive transfer fee for us, i find it hard to think like many on here who think €30 mil for Dzeko is not alot, i watch Milan and hurt like the rest of you do but it could be so much worse for us, we could be facing going out of existence and that would put everything into perspective for us, i'm not saying you should all agree with me far from it, this is coming from my heart and its my opinion just i think we should all just sit back and see what happens before passing judgement, Keving Prince-Boateng has not kicked a ball for us yet and hes useless and rubbish according to some, damn talk about giving the lad a chance, he is everything we asked for many seasons, young, fast, dynamic and a damn hard worker! like Dev said a few posts back galliani is normally smug and grinning like a moron but we have not seen him yet, surely this means he is doing something? lets just hold our horses and see what happens oh and Forza Milan.

Yeah, I think we got our hopes somewhat high here
![]() Like someone said - unless we use connections and can cut our a loan deal, we won't see any of Dzeko, Ibra, Robinho. No budget = No stars.

Honestly, as much as I'd love to have Dzeko because he's a terrific player and also Milanista at heart, 30 million is far more than he's worth. And this is the case with so many players, both proven stars and those with great potential (the fees being asked by the Brazilian clubs for their young stars are completely insane). So in a way I'm glad that Milan isn't jumping off a bridge with big sacks of money. I do, of course, wish they could find a happy medium and invest a little more than they are because this squad isn't far behind Inter and could win the Scudetto with a couple more strong reinforcements. But maybe in the long run this way will prove to be right. We'll see. Boateng has a chance to be an excellent addition and it was probably smart to work out this deal with Genoa and try him before buying. Milan should still have some budget left if they choose to use it. I think there are a few relative bargains out there to be had. I hope Milan can and will find a couple before the transfer window closes. But I see what they're trying to do. I wrote a post last summer explaining what I though they were up to and that I believed over the next (then) two to three summers spending would be minimal and Milan would be satisfied to finish in the top four (preferably three) to stay in the Champions League with the financial reward that comes with that. Right now they're stocking up on younger players and preparing them to step in as the older players' contracts run out. If the Merkels and Strassers and Verdis pan out and become quality players to replace Gattuso, Kaladze, Janku, Pippo, etc., Milan will have the funds to bring in other established players to blend with them and with the young stars such as Pato and Silva. But it takes time to get the older players off the books because salaries are too high to move them easily. So this takes patience, but if Milan plays their cards right, that patience can be rewarded.

In case you didn't realize, £750,000 is a big transfer budget for Milan nowadays as well. We have spent a combine of, what, 1 million euros this summer in the mercato so far (minus the sales, I meant)? As far as Boateng is concerned, I actually like this signing more than most people here. But I do have to say that people here have the right to complain about it. Clubs need to evaluate a player before signing him. If we deem him not good enough, then he shouldn't have been signed no matter what. And that is essentially the argument here. Most fans don't rate him as someone good enough for a team Milan's (former) caliber, so they don't think he should have been signed. Signing him here and hoping that he somehow miraculously become great is not the way to run a soccer team. Just because he hasn't played a single game in Milan jersey doesn't mean we should all believe he is the second coming of Pirlo. |

But the Neymar incident showed what I've been saying here for years... Some Brazilian clubs can't pay the same wages of Europe, but they aren't broke as before. They're organized and want to win titles, not be feeders of European clubs. São Paulo chose to keep Hernanes and sold for less than they could have some years ago(15m to Barça), but on the other hand, the team won 3 national titles with him as a leader. The buyout was 25millions and no one pay, great!!! Their fans were happy with the titles, the club is in a good(financial) situation and got 13 for him after that. (Start of a little rant, not for you) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Don't get me wrong, but this Eurocentrism(sp?) and arrogant way that European clubs look to Brazil will need to stop one day. The comments I'm reading in European newspapers(after Neymar chose to stay in Brazil) are amusing. They talk as if Neymar can't be developed here... what a arrogance!!! I was glad Neymar would play for Carlo and Chelsea, but now I want him(and Ganso) to stay here until 2014 WC... Let's see if they will not develop outside of Europe and play a huge role in Brazil NT. How can Santos see EPL clubs paying a huge amount of money for above average players, and accept less than the buyout clause for one of the best prospect they ever form? Sorry, but THIS would be real insane. Barça also, pay that fee for a player like Chigrinsky(sp?) and Santos need to accept less for a Ganso or Neymar type of talent?? Just because they aren't playing in Europe?? I will not even throw James Milner name here because M. City is a crazy and desperate club... The press here said Chelsea's crew leave Brazil mad at the kid because they match the buyout(late in the day) and the kid say no. Swallow it, bunch of arrogant!!! To be fair, Santos don't want to sell Neymar or Ganso. They sold André and Wesley to keep the duo to compete(and win) Brasileirão and Libertadores. Btw, Milan was prized when paid 30 million for a proven in Serie A Gilardino and was heavily criticized for to pay 22M for a unprovenneverplayedinEuropeKid in Pato, and look what happened... Great investment by Berlusconi(what I way he chose to thanks Leo for him, Kaka and T. Silva), paid 22 millions and when it sell him in the near future, will get at least the double... I love to watch Champions League with Brazilians playing, but can't wait for the day our best players will stay here. With our economy growing, and European clubs with financial problems, maybe I will see the day I thought was too far away ![]() Last edited by Brasileiro; 21-08-2010 at 23:08. |

I'm not sure Gila was bought for 30, I seem to remember it was half that. Edit: I checked, I was wrong. The 15 was how much we sold him to Fiorentina. We bought him for $24m. Also: "It was with AC Milan Gilardino became a YouTube viral sensation for his epic dive during a match. While playing a Champions League match against Scotland's Celtic FC of Feb. 20 2007 Gilardino had a breakaway on the Celtic net. After a poor touch and with no hope of scoring he flopped to the ground without any of the opposition touching him. Gilardino was given a yellow card and was openly mocked by the commentators. The video has been viewed over 2 million times."
