If we are going to splash out so much cash, would be nice if they gave us a big discount for a 2nd purchase, such as Zambro.

better to spend 90 mil on Zambrotta, Alves, Torres than on one player that can brake his leg in duel against some Siena defender and then we can sit and cry...

The key is Roberto de Assis, brother of Ronaldinho and R.Oliveira agent. De Assis is often in Milan to take care of Oliveira's business and obviously, being with Milan board they are trying to seduce Ronaldinho through his brother.

Many ask several signings but the bare truth is that, if Silvio is going to splash that amount of money, they will go only for Ronaldinho. In the Eighties we missed the most sensational partnership ever:

Gullit-Van Basten-Maradona

Knowing Silvio, he won't fail the signing of another Football God again

Again, good to see u Gio!! And for the naysayers...we are not shipping goals as we did last season, our midfield could do with some help, and we cant score...I say, bring in Ronaldinho...damn the torpedos, full speed ahead!!!

good news:

Italian politician: AC Milan going for Ronaldinho
tribalfooball.com - October 17, 2006

Italian politician Roberto Maroni has revealed AC Milan are actively pursuing Barcelona superstar Ronaldinho.

Maroni, a die-hard Milan supporter, admitted yesterday at a 'Politics in Football' forum: "I have asked (Milan president Silvio) Berlusconi at what point the negotiations to bring to Milan Ronaldinho were at. I cannot reveal what he answered to me, but I am satisfied.

"It began this year, it could happen. I asked (Adriano) Galliani and Berlusconi to put their hand in their wallet.

"It would appeal to me to see Ronaldinho signed for the new year, but I'm also a supporter of the return of (Andriy) Shevchenko."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
its froim tirball, but there are quotes so....looks realistic I hope...

But still, even if we do sing him, we need other reinforcements on CB and fullbacks. It simply needs to be done, no more playing time for Cafu for example. If we sign Roonie and miss do rejuvenate out defence, it will not work!

That politician was in berlu's cabinet as the interior minister, so he might be speaking the truth. He is hoping for Ronny to join in the winter so there is a very good chance of him coming in the summer that is why he is "satisfied".

Now it really looks like we are not going to give a damn about this season for sure, at least the scudetto chase, it will be really difficult to get the first place with the penalty. Just hope that roma, palermo and inter lose by fighting each other and we would emerge as the champions in the end.

This news is taken from today's La Gazzetta, so it's reliable.
It's reliable even because Berlusconi considers Milan as his Sistina Chapel, and he's constantly looking for the greatest artists to paint and upgrade his monument. Ronaldinho would bring 70000 season tickets every sunday, just like during the first years of Berlusconi's presidency.
It seems the financial investiment is already set up, with Silvio's companies to substain the effort, and Warner Bros to sponsor the operation. Ronaldinho is undoubtely an investiment, and despite the costs, the income would be huge, and probably bigger.

Warner Bros? How are they involved Gio?

Anyway, what i want to know is what happens to Oliveira when/if we do sign Ronaldinho? We all know the major reason we got him was because his ties with Ronaldinho, so if this target is accomplished, does Oliveira just get discarded?

Whatever price we pay for Ronaldinho, you have to add the £12 million we already spent on Oliveira to that total. If Ricardo's agent wasn't who he is, would we really have bought him? I'm thinking we probably wouldn't have, or at least probably not continued the negotiations once they got out of control.

i doubt it, if Oliveira's agent wasnt Ronaldinhos agent we would have gone for Sobis or Ronaldo... why did we buy a injured player? Thats a good point jim, if Oliviera fails to deliver goals he could be making a exit in the summer... We sold JDT because he wasnt scoring enough...

Milan talk silences Ronaldinho Wednesday 18 October, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ronaldinho has refused to comment on the latest rumours suggesting he may move to Milan. “I don’t want to talk about it,” said the Barcelona man.

The Brazilian ace was strongly linked during the summer and reports in Italy are gathering pace that Milan are planning a new bid, despite the club claiming there were no talks underway to sign him.

“Milan? I’m not going to say anything because it isn’t up to me to do so,” said the 2005 Golden Ball winner.

“I prefer not to listen to all the transfer market speculation. I know that my brother [and agent] has spoken with the Barcelona officials about it.

“I don't want to talk about something that I absolutely know nothing about,” added the South American.

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani, who had recently rubbished the possibility of the star leaving the Camp Nou, is now seemingly not as pessimistic.

“Ronaldinho to Milan? Goodness knows,” said the official after the Rossoneri’s Champions League win at Anderlecht on Tuesday.

“However, if he does arrive here then there will be no problem as we will adapt the playing system of the team to include the Brazilian player.”

----------------------------------------------------------------

This is crazy. The Brazilian did not deny anything. Didn't say that he wants to stay at Barcelona and by the looks of this interview doesn't even seem that he minds coming to Milan. He says that the move is not up to him and it is not up to him to discuss it. Also admits that his brother has already talked to Barcelona about it!
I totally didn't expect this. I knew we were interested by I didn't know that talkes were already that advanced. What looked like a prank at first, now may be comming true.

Has any one heard about Sandro Rossel? He is very close to Ronaldinho and can influence him. He was on the Barca board but resigned after a bust-up with Laporta. Any info ....

well, you basically said all that matters - Rossel was the one credited with bringing Dinho to Barca, I believe, and once he left the board of directors - think he was even a vice-president/chair or something - the first rumours of a possibility of Dinho leaving appeared.
The rumours settled down for a while but then Milan's name started being mentioned more and more frequently and now he seems destined to leave ... the way things are going, I would be surprised if he stays with Barca beyond the end of the current season.

Yea...that is the surprizing thing Zlat. He might actually leave this summer. Untill now I thought that he will be somewhat of a Rivaldo case, where he comes in a few years when he is done in Barca. But the way things are going we might see him join Milan a lot sooner...even this summer!

Yeah, and dont forget Barca's transfer policy with regards to their star players. They are a team that, if the price and conditions are right, will sell their star players. As far as I can recall, there were not many top players who came to Barca and saw out their careers. Most were sold at their prime and replaced with young talent. The same could be happening with Dinho---his replacement obviously would be Messi.

So if there is any chance of getting him, I reckon we ought to go for it. We would be amazing on the pitch---just imagine the Christmas tree formation with Gourcuff Pirlo Gattuso in midfield; Kaka on the right, Dinho on the left and Gila/Inzaghi up front. Mama Mia!! That would be a hell of a team!!! Okay back down to Earth now....
