Gourcuff - 7.0: Bordeaux's best player on the night by some distance. In fact, the on-loan Milan starlet was the only French player who looked capable of doing anything.

You might be right. Why would you come back to a team just to sit on the bench or play every other game (maybe)
He is probably @ KAKA status @ bordeux. <-- sorry if spelled incorrect. The only way i see him coming is Seedorf is gone...

I came across a couple a decent videos (well a video with 2 parts) on youtube of Gourcuff at Bordeaux this season.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=HzrVeE...eature=related http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RYaH0D...eature=related Whilst obviously the same player as he was with us, his confidence this season has been very impressive. Even moreso for me is his vision, as he's picking out some brilliant passes this year. However, he does still have a penchant for holding the ball at times when he should distribute more quickly. PS - I recommend watching this last half of the second part as we see some great football against Chelsea and an awesome goal against Toulouse. |

Will Ajax or PSV pay 10-15 million $ for Seedorf?

^^ Slowdorf has some differences with Van Basten. I am afraid he won't leave for Ajax. Slowdorf plays well once in 10 matches and in the rest, doesn't give a damn.

![]() No matter what, I still don't dislike Seedorf, unlike d!da & 76. He has had great performances & none more so than the away goal + assist against Bayern Munich in CL 2007 ![]() But the next question is when Seedorf is gone & Gorky is back, Will Carlo be able to fit in Kaka, Ronie, Pirlo & Gorky in one team + 2 DM? ----------Gattuso/Gorky---Pirlo/Gorky---Flamini/Gorky--------------- ------------------------------Kaka--------------------------------- ---------------------Pato-----------------Ronie--------------------- I personally think that Flamini should be a regular starter & Gorky+ Gattuso or Pirlo & Ronaldinho as a pure striker, as Jose Mourinho says ![]()

you guys need to check these two video clips of Gourcuff... it was over the last 4 months since he joined Bordeaux, alot of highlights of him.
I know it is just a clip and anyone can look good in it, but it is our own young Gourcuff, see for your selves! http://www.xtratime.org/forum/showpo...&postcount=231 we would be crazy not to bring him back next year..and when he's back he's gotta be the second attacking midfielder. he needs freedom. |

The whole Gourcuff situation is a delicate one and it is Galliani's job to show him we still care. Why we are playing Glasgow Rangers in a friendly I have no idea. We should be playing Bordeaux to give him a chance to show his Milan 'Teammates' he is ready to take their spots if they are not careful. One thing that always impressed me about Gourcuff, he never actually said a bad word about coach or club when he wasnt getting chances.
I watched the above videos and he looks the same player that was at Milan. His first touch is phenominal, shooting powerful, he looks to make quick and sharp one twos and his crossing is excellent. The main difference is that he is now playing like a leader. Maybe sitting on our bench actually taught him he needs to take his chances. Some of the same problems still exist and with the kind of player he is will always exist. He just needs to learn how to build his game around them, which he seems to be doing a hell of a good job of. Firstly, he holds the ball for too long, but so did Zidane and all great playmakers. He just needs to refine this part and the rest will come with age. The other issue is that, he isnt exactly the fastest midfielder around. He tends to beat players, but then turns back as he cant accelerate away from them (Similar to Seedorf by the way even though Seedorf is alot faster than people think and is lazy rather than slow- same effect though). He is overcoming this, the videos show him running past players who commit them selves into tackles or are off balance giving him the chance to run away. Also the video shows he is constantly keeping the ball moving and looking for quick little passes. Pato has sometimes been rubbish, but was saved by his speed and goals from being a striker. Gourcuff didnt have these things and we need to accept that and expect him to dominate the ball rather than make explosive runs with it. We all know Milan didnt help him develop while he was with us, but a club trying to win all doesnt have that luxury to always develop youngsters and be patient with their mistakes or lack of contribution. Part of the blaime falls on Gourcuff himself as he didnt express him self the way he should have. Then there are the fans who were quick to call him a flop and now say he is a saviour. (Not directing this to anyone in particular by the way) There needs to be somekind of middle ground surely. He cant go for flop to being ready in an instant. There is a delicate area in between where we need to allow him to grow. About Seedorf, yes he is inconsistent and lazy sometimes. Problem is, he is still a competitor as his initial form this season showed when his place was in question from Ronnie. He wont just roll over and accept losing his spot. This is great for competition, but can we really afford another situation where Gourcuff isnt playing again? How will that affect his development and more importantly his relationship and attitude towards Milan? (Im sure people in France remind him about how we didnt value Vieira). One option is to loan him to a Seria A side for a year. By the end of it he will have 2 years international experience with France, this seasons good performances with Bordeaux, hopefully next Seasons Seria A experience and a world cup campagin under his belt. By then Gourcuff will have the experience and confidence he requires to express him self for Milan. Sorry, for the long post. Its just I got very very excited when I first saw this guy in his debut for us. He is the classic midfielder, pass and move, creativity, tenacity. People say dont compare him to Zidane, but the way he controls and passes the ball is so Zidane like. It was very dissapointing to see him lose all confidence for us as he started bringing back memories of Boban and Dejan. Please Milan dont c0ck this one up!

I doubt if Gourcuff would like to spend another season on loan. If Carlo still intends to waste his talent I think he should move to some other club where his abilities are recognised.
^^ You say clubs with huge targets dont develop players? Ajax have done it for decades.. Barcelona is another example.. As many as 5 players from the Spanish national team are Catalan youth products.. We should take a leaf from their book. In fact we would do well to learn from Spanish clubs how to develop young players. We dont have even one good youth product.

Maybe the second season he should have had more chances considering that Pirlo and seedorf werent that convincing...however by that time, Yoan was great either...he had lost all of his confidence, simply didnt deserve to play. Guys Carlo may not be the best coach in the world to work with youngsters, but he isnt the worst as you describe him. for instance. Kaka arrived in Milano on friday/saturday, on Monday he was in the first eleven against ascoli benching both RUI COSTA AND RIVALDO in the first game of the season...so Carlo doesn have problems with youngsters....Yoan never was anything more than a talent, i feel the same about Pato...he has had moment of brilliance...but still nothing concrete, and I dont mind seeing him on the bench as long as he dosnt have the needed discipline to play for a great club. As for the new season, I dont think that even Carlo would mind having Yoan at his disposal...... One more note: Gilardino is playing brilliantly for Fiorentina...I still havent heard somebody lets have him back...WHY??? Because we know he cant play here,...same thing can be applied to Yoan case IMO

I disagree that Carlo has given enough chances to all the players that have been coming through, this is not necessarily a criticism because not all deserved it or perhaps circumstances didn't allow it, but to say a player like Gourcuff had chances but didn't take them is wrong in my opinion. This is not just a Milan problem though, a team playing 60+ games on 3 or more fronts should show more faith in the players they paid money for, how many times in the last seasons we saw Pirlo sweating like he was falling and it was maybe only half-time?

You say he lost his confidence but Carlo was also to blame here. There were moments last season when he couldve been subbed in but wasnt.. what the heck does one expect him to do? naturally his confidence will sink. Also, you give Kaka as an example. Please realise that Kaka is an exceptional exceptional talent. To not play him is borderline madness. It's not the same with Yohann. He has enough talent for any manager to persist with him even though he was lacking in consistency. Younger players almost always lack discipline doesn't mean that they have to dumped on the bench to quite frankly, rot. Its not like he's Cassano or Balotelli. You compare the case of Gilardino and Yohann while they are poles apart. Gilardino was never a player for Milan, not because he's not good enough but because some players flourish only when they're the focal point of the attack. Gilardino is a standard 4-4-2 striker. Milan is obviously much more than that. Darren Bent is an example. His record with Charlton was good but he sucks at Spurs. There are many others. I dont think his case is the same as Yohann, the judgement on whose stint at Milan is far from being final. No one is calling him a bad coach to work with youngsters. In fact except a few like Wenger (who quite frankly can turn crap players golden), Rijkaard and Ferguson to an extent, no other manager is absolutely brilliant with kids. I mean that this and his reliance on the same people irrespective of their performances is an area where he can certainly improve. As for my criticism of the lack of youth team products, I have a liking towards teams that develop their own players.
