Simplicio is not a winger. But, I really think he can fight for Seedorf's position. The guy isn't world-class, but he's very good player, a real fighter, and he can add a lot to our game: he's strong, pretty quick, good in the air, great reader of the game, intelligent both in attack and defense, solid passing and shooting... With him for Seedorf we would lose some creativity, but we would get much running, speed, aerial power, and a valuable option when going forward. With some clever coaching, I'm sure we can fix one position with Simplicio, and he comes for free. The best about him is that he's not one-dimensional player, he can play DM, CM, AM (REAL AM, not like Seedorf), even a deep-lying playmaker, all with quality. He's similar to Stanković, but even more versatile. If we would get Hernanes too, we would really have lot options in midfield and that would be midfield problems solved.

I would get Cacau, too. Really valuable backup, and still complete striker, he can play second striker as well as center forward.

As for side-back, well after I saw performances of some of (over)hyped sides-backs, like Evra or Lahm, even Clichy (super-speed, good crossing, but dreadful defending), I think we can stick with Antonini for one side. Marcus Diniz (22) from Livorno is our player, and from what I've heard, he's very talented left-back (defensive), but he plays out of position, at CB, in Livorno. I would be glad if someone would write more about him.

So, this is what we could very likely get with ~15 M investment:

4-3-1-2:

GK: Abbiati, Storari

RB: Antonini, Abate, SB
RCB: Nesta, Bonera, Onyewu
LCB: T. Silva, Yepes (free)
LB: Zambrotta, M. Diniz (free), SB

RCM/DM: Flamini, Gattuso, Ambrosini
CM (play.): Pirlo, Hernanes ** (12-15 M)
LCM: Simplicio ** (free), Seedorf

AM: Ronaldinho

CF: Huntelaar, Borriello, Inzaghi, CF
SS/CF: Pato, Cacau (free)

Players marked with ** can play CM, LCM, AM.

We could potentially get on side-back, preferably left, and sell Borriello or Huntelaar to use the money for WC CF.

But first of all, we should get rid of that 4-3-3, and stick with more balanced 4-3-1-2.

That team you wrote in here will again take 4 vs any serious team in the CL. That is a roster for 3rd serie a place and CL 2nd round. That is not how AC Milan should look like... I know you ment good, Im just saying...

Cacau is ok player for 4th striker, Yepes for 5th CB. OK, we solved that, now lets buy some serious players so we can actually run and play like serious club once again.

To comment on Olić as someone said he is like Pippo. That is absolutely not true

Olić was one of the more wastefull forwards I ever saw untill last 2 years when he by some miracle and probably hard work he managed to pass that block he had.

He was free, yes. Why he is not Pippo? Coz he runs absurde ammound of km's and sprints most of his time on the pitch. Is able to play pressing and ALWAYS plays with his heart out and with 200%. I never liked him as he never was the cleverest CF in the world. But he improved drastically and in now really helpfull to Bayern. For a free player, he was a catch for sure.

To conclude why he is no Pippo - coz there can by only one Superpippo who can beat Gerd Muller!! Pippo is a genious!

But Galliani or someone payed 15mln for a player we will sell as he is not good ( hunter), brought free Mancini who is **** etc... Its interesting how noone in Milan actually has any responsibility to all those wrong buys. Someone payed 15mln for a player he wants to sell after one year coz Milan doesnt need him? Why the hell did we pay 15mln? Its not like they payed something 20e so we can say "ok, lčets buy it..." Comical.

You're right, 4-3-1-2 is more balanced, but it requires a balanced squad, too.

Milan in 2002-2006, Inter 2006-today and somehow Real & Chelsea could. But our midfielders are not strong enough, forwards are not productive enough, fullback so so.

I think we should use Dinho's brilliance and Nesta & Silva's stability, plus ugrading by transfer. It is still early (or costly) to move to 4-3-1-2.

freebies like Yepes, or even Cacau might be good and will perhaps strengthen our squad (as backup players), but our starting eleven needs reinforcement here & there if we are to compete again out there..

For the posters here who argues that Cacau and Yepes are good signings because they strengthens our squad depth, you should learn from our past history. When was the last time we actually signed someone just to be a squad player? Every single player we signed who is even remotely capable of playing soccer at all is either a starter or main rotation player. Some of you argue that Yepes is good if he is only going to replace Favalli. But guess what? Favalli is our 3rd choice CB! We, as a team, does not sign squad players any more. Instead, we sign every player to be main rotation players. And that is why I am so completely against Cacau and Yepes. They will come in and be counted on to play major minutes. Yepes will be our Nesta backup, and we all know how much playing time that means; Cacau, on the other hand, is our backup plan to Dzeko. Now how many of you guys think Cacau is good enough to be Dzeko's replacement?

Nothing against free players as I think they are great. BUT what MIlan needs at this moment is not squad players but rather players for starting 11.

I mean, if Milan sign the following players: Hernanez, Dzeko, Corluka, and Honda

Then they will have a starting lineup of

Abbiatti
Corluka-Nesta-Silva-Antonini
Hernanez-Flamini
Pato-Honda-Dinho
Dzeko

and a bench of:
Zambro, Bonera, Ambro, Borri, Polashi, Roma and Abate

Out: Pirlo, Gattuso, Fava(retire), Dida(no extn), Kala(mutual agreement) and Hunter.

Nice one ! but shouldnt Antonini play on the right side? I thought he was originally a RB ?thus, he should have better crossings with his right foot

Thought of the day:

Rooney played his heart out despite not feeling 100% last night.
Pato complained his heart out despite not even training with the team.

Say all you want about smokescreen or this or that, but I would always pick someone who plays hurt and give it all to a team over a cry baby/whiner.

I think Corluka is someone that Milan should really go after, as he can starts as a RB and when Nesta is hurt, he can fill in as CB.

from milannews, it seem that he will be free transfer end of this season.
He still negotiating with his club, and Milan waiting and..

Yepes, Cacau, Godin, and now Sofiane Feghouli another target free transfer

Noone mentions him, but does anyone has an idea of when the contract of Srna is going to end ?

All these free players available ... that turns my head !! And probably the one of Galliani !!
Anyway, if we do sign so many free players, I think there will be a new trend in a near future with players not renewing their contracts just to get signed by big clubs for free ...

And I think it's interesting, we're going to have some depth with free players without spending our transfer budget, so we should maybe wait for one or two new players this summer, I mean maybe expensive players.

PS: Medias are going to link us with all free players .. whereas we're maybe going to sign only one free player.
