Celtic vs AC Milan UCL 03/10/2007

im going to try and not be soo negative but i wonder how many bad results fans are expected to take. Difference between this season and 96/97 is that other than milan lacking a striker and a decent goalkeeper.. The starting players are alot better so questions have to asked who or what is responcible?

I know the management are about 85% responcible for the side, and ancelotti is the other 15% really.. The players just dont have the drive and the will to go out and win. Something is seriously up with their mentality, unless ancelotti is not pushing the players hard enough...

Warro Bantan is dead right: Dida simply can't be our first option anymore, he does to many mistakes, that's the truth.

I have a few positive things to say:

1) Milan IS capable of winning. It's like a giant got woken up by the first goal, and kept attacking and attacking. that's the kind of SPIRIT that Milan is missing;

It's not about talent, technique, tactics, Dida`, Gila... it's about the desire.

2) So what's next?

- I suggest to play Gourcuff more because he does bring the game tempo up a bit. But he needs to be more mature in different situations; at some points he tries hard to beat the opponent 1vs1 but in a CL game, that often doesn't work (e.g., Ronaldo vs. Gattuso or Oddo or both). He needs to be more mature to play better.

- Think about what's going wrong with our DEFENSE, and not just put the blaming tag on Dida. Our defense is not that fantastic to be honest for the past few games, and at times it looks shaky.

- Final point: If supporters can just accept that Milan is going through a tough period and get together behind the team regardless of the result, I'm sure, no matter what, Milan will re-cover faster than if we say, "sell Gila" or "loan Dida to Sheffield Wednesday".

Be critical, and positive.

What stands out the most about this whole thing is that he's not the type who would just flip out like that. Something had to have happened down there, but we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

Abbiati will probably return in January and let's hope he plays like the Abbiati on loan at Juventus and not like he did in that famous cup match against Lazio.

Hahaha….I remember that game, Chile was losing to Brazil 1-0 and the goalkeeper took advantage of a firework that fell close to him from the stands, he went down and cut himself on the forehead with a Gillette blade that he was keeping on the sleeve (or on the gloves, not so sure of where), what a cheater!

Hi all, I've just registered. I've been reading posts on this forum on and off for the last couple of years, taking in all your arguments and analysis of our team and their shifting status in the world of football.
I've always found this forum to be helpful when I struggled with solutions for any random poor streak, or when I needed inspiration for my fantasy signings. I never actually considered registering because I very much enjoyed reading your posts without having to formulate my own theories into writings, which would arguably leave me vulnerable to counter-attacks from certain sections of this forum.
I've been a fan(this word doesn't even come close to the feelings I have for this club!) of Milan since 1988, and I have stuck with them in good and bad times, living through nightmares such as a 1-6 thrashing at home to Juve, a couple of painful defeats in cl finals(ajax, Marseille) and once I even smashed up my entire kitchen after losing a derby(can't remember which year, though)
However, I feel tonight a certain dispair and desperation I haven't felt since...well...I don't know when...maybe the 96-97 season. I have experienced first hand how the respect for our mighty team has vaporized(at least in my country where people openly muck them), which is a development I have serious difficulties comming to terms with! I have seen our opponents come to the San Siro unintimidated, treating our team as though they were a thing of the past, playing without fear and more often than not, getting the result they bargained for(i've been there on a number of occassions). I have heard Milanisti in the city of Milan itself talking about inter taking over the throne as if it was the most natural thing in the world. Calciopoli or not, this is not the way it's supposed to be!
I worry that this development in attitude towards our team, as well as a few other factors, contribute to milan's general downward spiral.
So what are these other factors? Well, here are my thoughts:
Carletto musn't be blamed! think of what he's done for us in the past. He has worked miracles with the players available, and should not be blamed for our current status. I believe on the other hand, that winning the CL last season was indeed a curse! I watched 7 Milan games in Italy last season, and although they did ok on a number of occassions, their general performance throughout the season was nothing short of miserable(although I did see Milan-man-utd at the San Siro.. BRILLIANT!!). When the team brought home the CL trophy, our directors were overwhelmed with a sense of undeserved accoplishment. This lead to their inactivity on the transfer market, arguing that the team had won the CL so obviously no reinforcements, other than R10 or Eto'o, were needed. The triumph completely erased from their minds the utterly disastrous serie a season endured by fans around the world(-8 or not, it was pathetic!), leading them to bring in players like Pato and Emerson. Obviously, they reviewed the season with minds hazy with ecstasy from that fantastic Athens night, failling to realise that the team had been craving younger blood for 2-3 seasons. We Can't expect people like Maldini, Pippo, Ambro, Emerson, Cafu and Clarence to go through an entire season without injuries of runs of poor form. And people like Gila, favalli and dida shouldn't even be in our team, but that's just my opinion.
What happened to the visionary transfer politics that brought us Donadoni, MVB, Boban, Savicevic, Baggio, Desailly, Weah, Sheva Rui, Rivaldo(although he sucked, but it was still a nice deal!)
I seriously believe that Mr G and Mr B, need to get their act together and realise that this team is deprived of options and creative material, obviously not referring to Kaka, and should open up their fat cat-wallets and cough up a buck or two for this team with magnificent history. AC Milan deserve better than this. My Milan tattoo is bleeding at the moment!

I Just might add, that a couple my good friends roll with Juve, Lazio and Inter, and somehow I've ended up with the Lazio guy at the bottom of the pecking order...All I can do is agree with the interbastard and the juventino: Milan suck at the moment! I'm not even trying to make excuses.. This isn't the way it's supposed to be!!

But you can't expect Milan to be always the best all the time, right? Teams have to go through up and down; there is no single argument can go against this proposition.

The question is: Which team will prevail in the storm?

I know, and I'm not saying that Milan will never hit a run of poor form, I've lived through a lot of those, I'm just frustrated with the level of performance the team has put in this season so far, and it really pisses me off when people who root for those teams actually have a point, and they're not just making excuses as they're used to.. I am however supremely confident that Milan in the end will prevail.

Milan's "down" time usually lasts one year... then an awesome decade...

Inter's "up" time usually lasts 2 years... then two decades or more of misery after misery.

If the camera proves that he was faking his injury then he'll get banned for sure. The same thing happened with one Chilean goalkeeper few years ago.

If he was really hurt then Milan must be given the win on green table. It's not fair to Celtic but it's a rule

that chilean incident was much more serious than this, the goalkeeper actually cut himself, was bleeding and everything,,,Dida didn't do more than what other players usually do day in and day out, remember what Rivaldo did in WC 02?(I think is was WC 02), the ball hit him on his legs and then he grabbed his face and fell to the floor, hehe...the fan breaching security and just touching a player is what's serious about the situation

We will.. We are the best and we will prove it.
We may not win the CL or Serie A, but we seriously should'nt panic all the time after each game. YES our management made mistakes and its not the first time. Some of you sound like gloryhunters who just got irritated cause they found out a team can be in a crisis. We will strike back, just have patience and have more respect for our players.

Its not that i'm in denial or anything. Sure we are in a crisis and we DO need reinforcements but we gotta settle with the players we got now and work together to get back on track.
