I think the directors did not lie. They are just being very secretive of their transfer strategy. They render minimum information to the public, basic - general statement about the players they rated highly, their targets, but no real details.
This strategy - i think - came from the fact that the transfer market /war has become very delicate since last year. We had our transfer target hijacked by our rival club. Since then, the real movements of breida and galliani have been rather silent.
remember that they reveal very little about their approach towards ronaldo? and nothing was given about their move on bonera. same thing here with suazo.
this is good, compared to broadcasting your strategy like madrid. you will only get more obstacles and competition that way.

Spanish daily AS continue to insist that Real Madrid will launch a massive offensive to land Kaka once Fabio Capello is sacked on Monday. The transfer strategy for the summer is already in place...
Ramon Calderon is unwilling to give up on landing Kaka, and believes that persistent pressure on Milan will tell.

AS report that Real Madrid have a 110 million euro transfer budget for this summer, and are ready to spend 80 of those on the Brazilian play-maker, making him the most expensive signing in football history.

Jose Angel Sanchez, a board member with contacts in Milan, and sporting director Pedja Mijatovic have been handed the license to step up their efforts.

The offensive will be launched on Monday, when it is expected that Fabio Capello will be sacked.

Bernd Schuster, the man supposed to replace him, has already given his endorsement saying: "Kaka is more important that Cristiano Ronaldo."

Diogo Kotscho, an associate of the player has admitted that transfer records would be torched if the move goes through: "If Madrid managed to sign Kaka, he would be the most expensive signing in football ever.

"Real Madrid's offer is really good, and until the 31st of August, it is impossible to rule out the fact that Kaka will be at the Bernabeu next season."

The report suggests that should this move go through, Real Madrid will use the rest of the budget will be used to land Heinze, Saviola, Dudek and Makelele.

We are probably talking about one of the most dangerous team in the world now:

Messi- R10-Eto-Henry-Deco. I hope to god they let go of either R10 or Eto because honestly I cant see how that team can loose. Kaka1899 I cant see Eto leaving Barca, especially after his words recently.

Only three of them can play together...not all five of them...We saw that Messi Dinho Deco Eto, maybe is too much, one has to leave once Henry joins

The David Suazo saga took another shock twist today! His contract clause releases him to Inter, so Milan pour their efforts into signing Ronaldinho.

Cagliari had agreed to sell the Honduran hitman to the Rossoneri in a £10m deal, but the player had already put pen to paper with the Nerazzurri.

Initially this was considered to be an illegal move, but after agent Giovanni Branchini met with Milan directors this afternoon, new details emerged.

It’s claimed that a clause in Suazo’s contract with Cagliari releasing him for £8m is valid for Italian sides as well as overseas.

With this in mind, the Sardinians have little choice but to hand him over to Inter for a lower price than that offered by their rivals plus half of Under-21 international Robert Acquafresca.

“From what I’ve seen recently we can say that there is a clear desire for the player to join the only club that courted him for a long time – i.e. Inter,” said President Massimo Moratti.

“We must make the most of that, besides our rapport with the others involved. We will see how it pans out.”

However, that is not the only development this evening. With Thierry Henry on the verge of completing his Barcelona transfer, this strongly suggests that the Spaniards will release either Samuel Eto’o or Ronaldinho.

Milan have publicly stated on numerous occasions that they are their primary targets and so losing Suazo will be considered more motivation to go all-out for one of the international stars.

If Lionel Messi is to be used as a supply line for Eto’o and Henry, then that means Ronaldinho is more likely to depart the Nou Camp.

The Brazilian has long had a fractious relationship with teammates, his club and Coach Frank Rijkaard, while he has regularly hinted that Milan would be a good move.

I personally would prefer Shave over Henry, more or less the same age, as Sheva is at least proven in Serie A and CL, Henry ... I am not sure about him even for CL games let alone Italy.
And Sheva knows Milan inside out.

Etoo would probably be a smarter choice than any of those but that's mostly due to his younger age, other than that, Sheva all the way if he was Etoo's age.
