Pavel Nedved has said he’ll make his announcement next week and it’s reported the Juventus hero will hang up his boots.

“If there is no meeting with Juve, then Pavel will certainly retire,” revealed agent Mino Raiola in a warning to the club.


“He is capable of just about anything, but I will do everything I can to encourage him to keep playing.”


The midfielder had already considered retirement last summer after the 2006 World Cup, but opted to stay on to help Juve return to the top flight after their demotion in the Calciopoli scandal.


Now that promotion has been achieved and many new names are being signed for the club – including latest arrivals Tiago Mendes and Sergio Almiron – Nedved could opt to call it a day.


A meeting has been set up with the Bianconeri directors for next week, but issues over the length of his contract and promises of a future job as a director for the club may provide stumbling blocks.


Today’s newspapers in Italy report that Juventus are preparing for a 2007-08 without Nedved by seeking out Hamburg midfield dynamo Rafael Van der Vaart.


The Czech international and 2003 European Player of the Year has confirmed he will make a decision before June 30.


Nedved turns 35 in August and has been at Juventus since 2001, having previously played for Lazio, Sparta Prague and Dukla Prague

Bonera is rubbish, Kaladze makes too many mistakes, Maldini can't turn and his body is breaking down and Nesta always misses 10 games a season through injury. We need a centre back and playmaker as cover for Kaka'. We don't really need a striker.

I guess it's namely because of those "we just paid for who we wanted years" that Milan has to take good care of it's oun finances as a club and not fully depend on Berlusconi.

And last but not least, isn't quite curious that our successful period started at basically the same time the free-spending and overpaying one ended? I guess there is more to successfully running a club than just throwing bundles of cash at players and agents and securing the financial future of other clubs.

"Losing" Suazo isn't really a loss as he was never an intended target to begin with and getting him would have been more like an added bonus than anything else given that he was destined to go to Inter for months before Cagliari offered him to us.

Milan have officially announced they are pulling out of their contract for David Suazo, as he had already signed for Inter.

After Cagliari President Massimo Cellino admitted that a clause in the striker’s contract allowed him to be released for £9.4m to a club of his choice, the Rossoneri had little choice but to accept the ruling.

“Milan have a contract with Cagliari Calcio for the co-ownership rights to David Suazo,” read a statement on the website.

“However, later taking into account that the player had already signed a contract with Inter, we communicate that we are pulling out of the negotiations.

“Milan also wish to underline that they acted fairly in the affair and in full conformity of the national and international sporting rules.”

So now the only remaining piece of the puzzle is for Inter to announce the arrival of Suazo, which is expected over the weekend.

Originally it had been deemed an illegal move for the Nerazzurri to put pen to paper with a player who was still under contract, but it emerged that the clause released him for both overseas clubs and those within Italy.

“He didn’t even give me time to answer back, he sounded extremely certain,” noted Cagliari President Massimo Cellino. “I can only say that at this point I will leave the player free to make his path.”

This leaves Milan clutching at straws, particularly after news from Spanish paper ‘Marca’ this morning claiming that flop Ricardo Oliveira has requested a move to Real Madrid.

Yet this does all point in the same direction – that all of the European Champions’ funds will be poured into snatching a top star to play alongside Kaka and Ronaldo.

With Thierry Henry going to Barcelona for £16m, that leaves the door open for either Ronaldinho or Samuel Eto’o to walk away.

Milan have made no secret of their interest in the two Blaugrana players, although there are also options such as Chelsea’s Didier Drogba and former San Siro hero Andriy Shevchenko.

Villa has also been linked with us. Though nothing on Huntelaar yet.

although i like Huntelaar i rather wait until next season to get him, get him when inzaghi leaves Milan.

Fair points as always.

Also I don't think the salary cap is hard and fast, just that we never really had a need to break it. However, if we're really going for Dinho, then I suspect the club will break and probably set it higher.

Finally these are player salaries:

I don't think anyone earns what Real are RUMOURED to be offering. So our salary cap of 6.5 (spread out over 5-6 players) is at best lucrative and at worst competitive.

I am a little dispirited by our lack of urgency, but I still trust our management. Forza Milan!

Bronzetti is again saying that Milan will go for Eto'o or Ronaldinho, but I dont expect anything anymore from Galliani as he looks lost just like last 2 summers. The man needed ages and Berlusconi's help to sign Oddo, he'll need Gods help to sign Ronaldinho or Eto'o.

Nedved is retiring every summer since Euro 2004. He's 35, still playing great tho, but losing a 35 years old player doesn't mean Juve will be in big trouble.
I don't think he will retire, though. After playing a serie B season i doubt he'll like to say goodbuy without tasting top football again.
The only way he can retire is if the managment wants him to, and i don't think they'll want him out concidering he's ireplaceble. ( or replaceble only by some 30m euro player.... something Juve can't allow now)

btw, there were some rumours on tuttomercato of a possible transfer romance between Milan and Inter, now that the relations are back to being "beautiful" with the Suazo saga ending with Milan deciding not to stand in Inter's way, and the names thrown in were that of Samuel and even Adriano.
