Banter 2009/2010

Lippi is linked with the Milan job this morning just rumours. Lippi is a great coach but I think Leo will be a better fit for Milan he has done a tremendous job this season with what he has , I know some people don't like Leo but my god look at the squad he has done a really good job and deserves to be backed in the mercato and his plans.
That said I don't think Lippi will take over he isn't stupid and would be more outspoken than Leo and Berlu know's this and he will want funds this seems to be a no no aswell.
I think Berlu wants a manager just as a face maybe Tassoti or Galli will take over and be a yes man , i'll be seriously p1ssed if Leo walks because we all know why it would of happened here's to a long 5 months ahead.......

I have great respect for Lippi, but in my opinion he is not the best option for us!
He was coach of Juve and Inter and doesn't have Milan history!!!
But the biggest problem is, If I am right, Lippi will bring all the old players to the world cup, maybe that's why our management wants him, because he likes oldies, then he can say our midfield is strong and we don't have to invest.....what will be music to Galliani's and Berlusconi's ears.

We have to stick with Leonardo, who wants to freshen the squad!! He is a good, attacking style coach, who has to work with some week, old players, that's why we will finish third again!
The problem is not with the coaches, but with the players!!!

Only Leonardo can rejuvenate our squad and bring us glory again... to the top of Europe!!! But only then, if our management give him more power, otherwise we will see the same old midfield (Ambrosini, Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf - there are only one place they can do nothing for a lot of money, and that is Milan, because we are a big family and we like players because of their past not there present and future!) for years to come

'only Leonardo can freshen the squad', is that like a joke or something? the same Leo that wouldn't start Flamini! The same Leo that doesn't even try primavera players! please the only difference between Carlo and Leo is that, Carlo used the diamond or christmas tree while Leo uses a 4-3-3.

First of all, Flamini was not 100%.
Secondly, if Carlo is still in charge, he would be using Oddo, Zambro, Janku and even Kala instead of Abate and Antonini.
More importantly, if Carlo is still the coach, Milan would be fighting for a CL spot instead of the Serie A title.

Sheggs you also have to ask yourself why our primavera players don't play maybe thay are not good enough , just because guy's are young doesnt mean they are great. The few times Zigoni has got 20 mins this season only afew in the league he looks slow and awkward , watching some of them in the coppa aswel they arent , Iniesta Messi Pedro Clichy Fabregas Diaby Pastore players like that if they were impressing in training and good eneough they would play , Flamini doesnt play sometimes because he is so rough and gets booked alot maybe Leo didnt want him playing against catania and risking more booking sor red cards , Fact is Leo this is a bad squad and Leo has done well he has an eye for talent and needs to be backed and trusted.

As for Lippi.

I know a lot of you have respect for Lippi....but I really think his current mentality is not suited for modern day CLUB football. I am not just saying he sticks with older players, but he is very anti-youth movement(something that all modern clubs is doing). I mean even Chelsea and Real spend millions and millions on youth players.

De Vito, Di Gennaro, Zigoni, Verdi, Struasser, Darmian, Albertazzi.... they are all names that we talk about as being the next Cap, Baresi, Donadoni....but the truth is that if lucky they will only become good rotation players for Milan and one or two of them might become starter on Milan. Maybe I have not been watching a lot of them play, but none of them seems to have the talents to become World beaters like Messi, Iniesta, Xavi and others.

Thatis what I think they do not impress enough , I mean if they are training with the first team and not impressing it doesn't say much , surely they can burn some of our older players and make Leo think hmmmmm give this guy a run out on the weekend if we are winning . But even when we have been 3 and 4-0 up they don't come on and Leo does like young players . Now Im not expecting a team of Messi's Busquets Aguero's etc... but they clearly have not got what it takes in four months Adiyiah hasn't even got on the bench and with all our injuries still hasn't gotten on the bench and he's not 16 he's 20 so he's out Darmian Albertrazzi Verdi Zigoni Di Vito the few times I have seen them play do not impress , and you can tell with a young guy if he has it he doesnt have to score a hat trick or have 5 assists , ou can simply tell by movement runs he makes passes he attempts and these guy's are not top quality Zigoni looks slow at 19 , Verdi looks lost like a headless chicken and the rest arent even good enough for a coppa bench.

This is what worries me we won't be signing good quality players and we don't have any coming through either , I was hope that at least 2 would be starting next year and 2 on the bench but now I don't know.

Exactly, I mean look at Gourcuff, when he was given his MINUTES, he actually got some nice touches and could make passes and crosses.

BTW, I think Bordeaux is listing him as 25M for the summer. I really think Milan should grab him and Blanc from Bordeaux before the WC. THen promote Leo to GM or Director of Operations and just handle transfers.

I remember watching him and always saying he needs more time he';s green but hardly ever gives the ball away smart player. Im hopefull for the summer after recent weeks of doom and gloom afterall IDK what the plans are and no point in being miserable money transfers or free transfers once there good I don't care but I'd like to avoid signing guy's 29 and over 23 - 28 and at all costs not just signing guy's because they are free , and while Yepes has been good this year It really annoys me that at 34 they sign him for 2 years start with one and go from there , there so far is no sign of any change but we'll see in the summer . One thing is for certain if they are relying on our youth team then arivaderchi future.

Both Lippi and Spaletti linked to the Milan job today. I think we should stick to Leo, as for me he's not the problem, the weak squad is.

According to goal.com it was Paolo Berlusconi, Silvio's brother (not sure if they're wrong). The quote is quite interesting as he pretty much admits that the side has surpassed expectations this season.

I think without saying it they are definately happy just finishing 3rd comfortable this year , but next year it will be a scramble infact IDK if it will be possible at all the legs a year older and all and some of them in the WC straight back into season. Dissapointing that we won't be going for guy's like Torres Dzeko Fabregas Krasic and Hernanes especially Krasic and Hernanes as 30 mill might be enough to get them , well Yepes and Cacau (even though he hasn't signed) it is.....sigh if only I was a billionaire.

Interesting no one has mentioned that Italy has officially lost the 4th CL spot for the 2011/2012 season already after Hamburg qualified for the semi-finals of the Europa League. Even if Inter win the CL and both the Germans get eliminated, Italy will still have lower points than Germany this year (Lazio and Genoa are to blame for having such a low coeffecient this year).

What we should hope for is for Inter to win the CL so that we can aim to get the 4th spot back for the 2012/2013 season. It will be a very difficult season next year as only the Top 2 spots go directly to the CL and the 3rd spot has to go through qualification rounds. 4th-5th spot will go to Europa League (and will the winner of Coppa Italia).

Had that referee Overbo NOT mess up that game Fiorentina vs Bayern Munich we would have been safe with four spots.

I am 99% sure that we have mathematically and theoretically lost the 4th spot for the 2011/2012 season.

Here is the current ranking (with the current year, not ended yet):
1st - England (80.999 points)
2nd - Spain (78.757 points)
3rd - Italy (63.624 points)
4th - Germany (63.207 points)

Actually, the last hope for Italy would be to see Bayern and Hamburg being eliminated by losing both legs ...

But that would just postpone the problem one year later as Italy will lose the points of 05-06 next season ... this year, there was a 5000 point difference between Italy and Germany !!

If the season was to end today, here would be the ranking at the start of next season:
1st - England (66.571 points)
2nd - Spain (63.115 points)
3rd - Germany (52.770 points)
4th - Italy (48.267 points)

Even if Inter wins CL, that won't change that much, so Italy will start the next season with a handicap in this ranking. The only way for Italy to manage to end next season at the 3rd place will be to have no Juventus-like result (both in CL and Europa League) and serious teams playing both competitions.

The worst is that even if Italy manages to end 3rd, the following season, Italy will start again with some handicap (at least 2.000 points). And only then, it'll go in favour of Italy again for 3 years.

So the end of this season, next season and the following one will be dangerous seasons for the spots in CL ...
