I don't want Lippi in Milan, and I'm not really ok with what he is currently doing with the NT ...

But, what can make you say such a statement ?

While I disagree with Lippi, I have also to admit that what he says is credible ("having 30+yo players or 25-yo players in a competition during only 1 month is the same physically, but experience is more important" ... I sum up what he said of course) ...

The number of clubs in the first division has nothing to do with the level of the clubs in a country.
The French Federation decided to do that some years ago because other countries around France did it and it is a better "format" for the competition (10 games each W-E).
I think the official goal for doing that was to have 2 more teams in the first division and so more teams with experience of the high level (which means a higher general level), like you say, but the fact is that there is always one or two teams that are just too bad to play in Ligue 1 (Grenoble this season, after 12 or 13 games played, they had 1 point ...).

Then, stadiums are not full, far from that. Yes, Lyon, Marseille, maybe Paris and Bordeaux, for sure Lens, manage to regularly have full stadiums. But don't forget that thing: they don't have 80000+ places in their stadiums, except for Marseille (65-70000 places I think), the others tend to have between 25000 and 40000 places.
Lille will probably manage to do it too when they will have their own stadium (it is planned to open the doors in 2012, 50000 places, I think they are going to have the same kind of stadium as Schalke 04 if I'm not wrong. Since 6 years now, they play in a city near Lille, in a stadium that is ok for Ligue 1, but when they are in CL, they have to play in Paris because this stadium isn't good enough for CL).

And for the results in Europe, well, it's probably, like the last time with Monaco, a one-year-surprise. You can already erase Bordeaux for next season (it's not sure they're going to manage to qualify again as they are in a terrible form since 3 weeks, Chamakh already said it was his last game of CL for Bordeaux after the loss against Lyon, Gourcuff already stated he could leave if Blanc leaves, which is very likely to happen, and so will probably do some other players), Lyon will be there if they manage to play both Ligue 1 and CL together, Marseille will be there for sure (they will probably be chapions this season) but they never manage to have good results in CL. The worst for France would be if Auxerre and Montpellier manage to take the 2 places for CL with Marseille, meaning one of them wouldn't even pass the qualifying turn, the other would be eliminated in the group stage and then, all would depend on Marseille but like I said, their results in CL don't give that much optimism ...

So, like you see, if you try to watch more deeply what happens in France (if I post my whole comment on a French forum, people will bash me and kill me, because it goes against any trend in medias and what think people here), you'll tend to think that, depending on Lyon in Ligue 1 this season, the future of the French clubs isn't that good for now ... and so, France won't be a threat for Italy.

If Gourcuff has said he will leave if Blanc leaves would it be worth having a little sneaky bid to get him back or will Yoann go where Blanc goes?

Make a sneaky bid for Blanc. Problem solved.

2nd - Spain (78.757 points)
3rd - Italy (63.624 points)
4th - Germany (63.207 points)

Actually, the last hope for Italy would be to see Bayern and Hamburg being eliminated by losing both legs ...

But that would just postpone the problem one year later as Italy will lose the points of 05-06 next season ... this year, there was a 5000 point difference between Italy and Germany !!

If the season was to end today, here would be the ranking at the start of next season:
1st - England (66.571 points)
2nd - Spain (63.115 points)
3rd - Germany (52.770 points)
4th - Italy (48.267 points)

Even if Inter wins CL, that won't change that much, so Italy will start the next season with a handicap in this ranking. The only way for Italy to manage to end next season at the 3rd place will be to have no Juventus-like result (both in CL and Europa League) and serious teams playing both competitions.

The worst is that even if Italy manages to end 3rd, the following season, Italy will start again with some handicap (at least 2.000 points). And only then, it'll go in favour of Italy again for 3 years.

So the end of this season, next season and the following one will be dangerous seasons for the spots in CL ...

Actually you are correct.

http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/...ccoef2010.html

That website is very accurate and is always updated.

If Inter win the CL they will get a total of about 31.5 points whilst they currently have 26 points. The thing is, if Inter get those extra 5.5 points, it will be 5.5/7, because it will be the average country coeffecient and since there was 7 Italian teams in UEFA this year, it will be divided by 7.

Germany for this year have an average of 17.083, and Italy 14.714. It is impossible to achieve more points than Germany for this year.

Italy right now have a total of 63.624 and Germany 63.207.

Next year, Italy will LOSE 15.357 points from 2005/2006 season, and Germany will LOSE 10.437.

This means, it is not official yet. If the season ends the way it is right now, Italy will keep it's 4th spot for 2011/2012.
We really really need Hamburg and Bayern to lose.

Next year in Europe, Italy has to achieve 5 more points than Germany to be safe. Anything less will give Germany the fourth spot.

Why not trying ? Gourcuff never said that he would never return to Milan ...

The problem actually is that we can buy 50 WC players, as long as 3 players or more are allowed not to track back the players when they lose the ball or just defend when needed, there will be a problem in our team.

It's what has to solve Leonardo if he stays next season.

And how will Gourcuff be used ? I mean, his position ? He's a classical AM, he can play as CM but it's not the best way to use him, that means, we buy Gourcuff and have to change everything again ? And if we buy Gourcuff and change our formation for him, we will have the same problem as this season with Ronaldinho, no replacement for him ?

Anyway, by buying Gourcuff and using him in his real position (Central AM), we could keep Borriello, Huntelaar and Pato for our striker positions as I think the formation would be more suited for them, and we could play with 2 strikers again. This way, no need to splash 40M for Dzeko ... and Ronaldinho could be used in one of the ST positions sometimes if he is kept (because I can't see us buying Gourcuff, keeping Ronaldinho and sending him on the bench).

My thought is that with all these speculations about Leonardo leaving/staying/leaving/staying/..., we go in no direction and are unable to build anything serious, from the management to the players ...

PS: About Blanc, Moratti was interviewed by French TV and they asked him to say what he thinks about the French clubs and more especially Laurent Blanc, and Moratti said that when Blanc was a player in Inter, he was the only player he couldn't "tutoyer" (in French and in Italian for sure, you have two ways to say "you", the one when you know people, like friends, family, co-workers, etc, it's "tu", and then you have the polite way to say "you", to people you respect very much, who are older than you, or you just don't know them and want to be respectful/polite, it's "vous", and Moratti said he used the first way to say "you" with all players, all people in the club, except Blanc, he didn't manage to do it and used the second way all the time ). Anyway, Moratti said Blanc was a great coach, which means a lot when you know that Mourinho can leave at any time ... Laporta said, in an interview of the same French TV, that Blanc has to come to Barcelona if Guardiola leaves ... Ferguson already stated that Blanc could be his replacement in Manchester ... so for the sneaky bid for Blanc, a lot of clubs think about that !!

the case of having a formation for Dinho is proving to be a kick in the ass with the key parts missing or not playing well at least playing with a system where players are more interchangable it might yield better results something like a

------------------Abbiati-------------
----Abate-----Nesta----Thiago-----Antonini
------------------Pirlo-------------------
-----------Flamini------------Ambro------
--------------Gourcuff/Dinho/Seedorf---
-------------------Pato----------------
------------------Hunter/Borri/Pippo--------

obv for the players that have / delete as appropriate, also the spending if any would be more focused on Defence and the GK positions?

Don't think you can put a finger on Lippi's abilities. The guy is one of the most succesfull managers, and maybe the most succesfull in modern times. He's won everything worth winning, basicly.

Still though not keeping Leonardo would be terrible for the club. Galliani himself said that he expectations were that we finished at least 3rd. Leonardo has done that, and to be honost has probably made this squad overachieve.

Leonardo most likely will be offered the Brazil job, so he does have some kinda leverage on B & G considering how popular he is. With this in mind I think it's obvious that he has made some demands, most likely demanding more influence. In my opinion this is the right way to do it, remember that Leo might be a new coach, but he's been at the club for years and knows how things are done. It would be unreasonable, and ultimatly a sign of no ambitions, for Galliani to fire Leo, especially considering that a sacking would have nothing to do with the sporting results.

Also it's should not even be a problem to keep a rookie coach at a club like Milan, no matter what offers he recieves.

While we're at it, why not after Sheikh Al Mansour what-his-name himself? Now THAT is solving our problem. Haha

Imo, opinion, he had a normal first-half... But a great second-half! He bosses the midfield in the second half, but was clearly(he and São Paulo team) out of gas in the last 15 minutes. Normal for a team with 10 players since the first half.

Couldn't agree more, Gabriel. A okay game by him, is better than anything we have. This type of players is the engine of a mid, and we don't have it(barring 4 games a season) for the last 4 years.

As I said last week, the problem with Hernanes nowadays is motivation. His second-half performance showed it. After all went wrong for São Paulo in the first-half, he stepped up his game in the second, and if it wasn't for that overrated goalkeeper(Rogerio Ceni), the result would be a draw.
