Moon Landing a Hoax? Ever since the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) sent astronauts to the moon between 1969 and 1972, skeptics have questioned whether the Apollo missions were real or simply a ploy to one-up the Soviet Union during the Cold War. The debate resurfaced and reached crescendo levels in February 2001 when Fox television aired a program called Conspiracy Theory: Did We Land on the Moon?. Guests on the show argued that NASA did not have the technology to land on the moon, but, anxious to win the space race, acted out the Apollo program in movie studios. The conspiracy theorists pointed out things such as the pictures transmitted from the moon do not include stars and that the flag the Americans planted on the moon is waving even though there is thought to be no breeze on the moon. NASA quickly refuted these claims in a series of press releases, stating that any photographer would know it is difficult to capture something very bright and very dim on the same piece of film and since the photographers wanted to capture the astronauts striding across the lunar surface in their sunlit spacesuits, the background stars were too faint to see. For the flag, NASA said that the astronauts were turning it back and forth to get in firmly planted in the lunar soil, which made it wave.

The issue may have been put to rest when NASA pointed out that the show never raises a question about the more than 800 pounds (363 kilograms) of rocks brought back from the moon. "Geologists worldwide have been examining these samples for 30 years, and the conclusion is inescapable. The rocks could not have been collected or manufactured on Earth," NASA says on its Web site. Regardless, the conspiracy theory abounds today. Similarly, there are still people who claim that the Earth really is flat. Some people are convinced that there is a vast conspiracy to hide evidence of flying saucers and that dead aliens lie in a secret government mortuary in a place known as Area 51 in Nevada. Others think that aliens are alive and well and living in the White House. For many people, the world is full of conspiracies and hoaxes.

This guy swam over a kilometre in freezing Norwegian fjord waters ! The temp was about 4°C and he was in this ice bath for over 20 mins !!!!!! For you or i we would have lasted barely a minute and prolonged exposure would kill us. This isn't in the linked article, however when it was on the news they said that scientists believe he is able to either consciously or subconsciously alter his body's core temperature allowing him to survive for such a length of time !!!! Imagine if that was true, that a human had the power to control certain bodily actions. We all ready know some people can lower their heart beat and others can last underwater for around 8/9 mins without breathing.

It makes you wonder what could be next, what might happen in 30 years time say, could humans eventually evolve beyond what we are now ?

On a jokey side, what i found amazing was how this coincided with the imminent release of X-MEN 3 ! The mutants are out there, watch this space ...

How amazing would this be ! Scientists claim that they could develop a cloak of invisibility within the next two years !! That would be incredible. No doubt the military would be the first to snap this up and then keep it all hush hush ... chances are they already have them. I wonder what could be next ?

Its actually a military funded project Jim. They'd only be "snatching" it from themselves. Conspiracy theorist have claimed that the US had done research on this way back in WWII called the "Philadelphia Project".

Conspiracy theorists claim everything has been around for years. I'm sure they (military) had ideas about an invisibility device in WWII and researched it as in depth as they could at the time, but i doubt anything completely successful came of it. However, saying that it is logical to think that that research led to the stealth technology of today and whatever advanced stealth technology they have in secret use.

Researchers believe that a super giant meteor crashed into a territory in Antarctica and subsequently formed Australia ! They also believe that this impact destroyed the super continent of Gondwana. Plus this impact was 4/5 times larger than the impact that many believe wiped out the dinosaurs !!!!

The Chicxulub meteor (in Mexico's Yucatan peninsula) is thought to have been 9.6 kilometers (six miles) wide, while the Wilkes Land meteor (Antarctica) could have been up to 48.3 kilometers (30 miles) wide -- four or five times wider ! I find that insane, something that big hitting us and we (the earth) survive.

For me it makes me wonder about two things, had this second meteor not hit and Australia (and possibly Gondwana) was still intact, imagine the kind of animals, people, civilisations that would be around today. Secondly, it makes me wonder when the next meteor might hit, it's been a while since the last one.
