I am not talking of breaking the team up, but players that been more on the bench than not should be replaced, we need players to fight for their places, last night the entire team picked itself, it was obvious weeks before this would be final 11 barring injuries. We need more competition withing the team if we want to improve, and Yes We Have To Improve.

what nicostallion said is true. that shell-shocked attitude is exactly what we saw at the riazor. they had no capability to fight back. and yes, nicostallion is right - liverpool finished 5th in the EPL! 5th!! and Milan could have destroyed them by a score of 5-0 if they were focussed. It's not that Liverpool outclassed Milan in that second half - it is only that Milan didn't PLAY AT ALL. Why did they get so nervous after going 3-1? why keep the pace of the game fast when liverpool obviously wanted to play at a fast pace? MIlan should have slowed that game down and played possession football.
why not adapt to liverpool's extra midfielder quickly? move gattuso or seedorf into defence! or EVEN BRING ON BROCCHI after going down 3-2 or Kaladze! (then again, ancelotti was shell shocked too) if liverpool played milan again, it would be a slaughter for sure but with this milan's attitude, even after going up 5-0, they would thing "game over" and let liverpool come back and win 6-5 ![]() not sure how many of you were here during the last major milan overhaul - it was the season where we got kluivert, davids, reiziger, bogarde, andreas andersson, saudati, commandati, taibi, and we all know what happened lol Last edited by Nadir; 26-05-2005 at 09:34. |

I definately dont agree that we need a major overhaul, just the addition of a few world class players in key positions.
Defence, Midfield, and Forward. With this new purchase, the dude from PSV....dont remember his name in my shell shocked state....hopefully we are on the way to a small, but important realignment of the team which will benefit us next season and in coming seasons. Two more world class players, and we should be fine. Of course there would have to be some departures, but those should be from the ranks of the "second team"....

vogel is a good signing indeed. he is in the mould of ambrosini but can pass better. that being said ,i sure hope dhorasso stays and plays a more prominent role.

Ok since we have so many threads now
...... Khris brings up a very good point, we need bench players that Ancelotti will actually be comfortable to use, rotation will be key to at least any fatigue factor which certainly leads to not being able to focus for the whole 90 min. Again using Simic just as an example, we should have players on the bench that will be used outside some early coppa matches. More than any system changes and overhauls the look of the bench is the key.

this milan team i think is definatly stronger than the team of 2002-03 because that team was a renaisance, this team is known to be the best in the world and when we play our game no one can compete with us ... the only difference between the 2 teams is that the old one knew how to control the tempo of the match and made the oppositition play the way they wanted to... the current team risks it alot, theyre looking to get out with 3 points even if it meant to defend the whole 90 mins, im not saying this is neccesarily bad (it has to be done in certain situations like vs psv and fiorentina) but when u force the opposition to play ur type of game then they have no chance of doing anything to us plus we get out of the match without being tired really.
another thing i noticed between the 2 teams is that the old one used to be more passionate... mainly gattuso, no disrespect but the guy seems to have lost a large amount of determination... the thing that put him above all DMs in the game... the istanbul game needed rino to run to our crowd and jump like crazy asking them to support us til the end... plus he also seems to give up on some runs while the old rino never did and got the ball no matter what |

Next season, Maldini should only play centre back and not left-back. The lack of width is obvious and by playing Maldini there we lose about 50% attacking potential because he doesn't have the energy or skill to beat people. Jankulovski should play there and Maldini,Stam and Nesta will have to fight it out for the CB positions.
The best way to make the bench better is by getting a midfielder that will start ahead of Seedorf. We need more power and speed in midfield, it's that simple. Pirlo and Seedorf are so slow and hopeless at getting back to make a tackle, it's a joke sometimes. When an opposition rolls over and we're in control then that's great, but when the pressure is on, neither seem to have the strength to alter the game. When you have to do the ugly things and fancy passes aren't called for, they can't do it. Benching them now and again might give them a bit of a shock so they think "hang on, my place is under threat i better put more effort in". I don't think we should spend £10 million on Crespo. Better to spend it on Bojinov or try for Martins. They both can score goals, are quick and in Martins case he looks like he'd run from one end to the other just to make a tackle. If we were to release Serghino, then we should get Esposito of Caligari. I think he would be ideal as a replacement for El Concorde.

first of all congratulations jim *my a$$*
![]() ![]() ![]() 2nd of all maldini doesnt lack skill infact this is what makes him the best defender ever he doesnt only defend he does it with style and class which requieres sublime skills i agree with you on seedorfs case but i dont agree when u put pirlo in there as well... pirlo isnt a fighter ... we all agree but yesterday he did his best and was the best on the pitch for both teams IMO so u cannot blame him, i think were leaving too much space for opposition to shoot, somehow we dont see seedorf trying to block a shot anymore, nor do u see gattuso running up and down the field to stop a counter attack, and u dont see coverage in defence anymore where when one CB goes out to stop a run the other takes his place... i think we should keep the backline the way it is, and play jankulovski in seedorfs place and start gila upfront and we should have an option B from now on because defensivly the xmass tree formation isnt much different from our actual formation, we should find a new formation where different players are required and not neccessarily our starting 11. |

in defense next year i hope milan sell simic, kaladze, costacurta(retire), pancaro( give him bac to lazio), n we buy janku, oddo and insert a young player in the center either from our youth or just buy one. in middlefield we shud sell brochi and buy pizarro. in atack we shud buy gila, makinwa, crespo and sell jdt and pippo. As for goaltending lets loan abbiatti and get another back up. thus our squad looking like this:
Dida(fiori,????) Cafu(oddo) Nesta (??????) Stam(maldini) Janku(serginho) gattuso(ambrosini) Pirlo(Pizarro) Seedrof(Dhorassoo) Kaka(rui) Sheva(Makinwa) Gila( Crespo) |
