I live in Manchester and have been to a few Man Utd games and watch their games every week on TV and I have to say RVN is still a very good player! This season he has been suffering from a lack of confidence, and also a lack of adequate chances because the midfield has been very poor. The only reason Man Utd finished 2nd was because of two reasons:

1. They got knocked out of Champions League and FA Cup and were able to concentrate on the league.
2. Wayne Rooney.

His stats for this season are 47 Apps in all comps, 8 as sub, and has scored 24 goals. Not bad for someone considered to be having an average season. However I must state if you are looking to buy him as a replacement for Sheva then stop right now!

Although RVN tries extremely hard outside the box to get the ball from the opposition he is not the type of player to dribble towards defenders and scare them. Give him crosses in the box and he will guarantee you goals. When Beckham left for Real Madrid, RVN has not been the same because there is no one providing consistant, accurate crosses for him and he has had to mainly rely on scraps. He still a great player and it's rumoured Man Utd will accept offers around Ł8 Million.

We need a "Secondo punta", not another first striker.

Van Nisterloy might need just a change of scenery to be great again.

I think Milan should make a move for him.

Sell Sheva high, buy Ruud low.. this is a good timing.

Ohh yeah, he still reminds me of the old Marco van Basten. Powerfull headers, good shots from volley and very good in one to one... I also think he might grew to the glory in ACM jersey again...

I'm back to this forum after some years...and not many people i knew stil in...well but i can remamber how we celebrated Sheva signing here in summer 1999...and this is very sad but lives go on and Milan i still strong! Now teh ymust show they are also strong on the market!

Hey, Mr. Bungle, I'm hearing now Carry Stress In The Jaw, what a fantastic song!!!

Well, regarding RVN, I'm against signing him, not because of his techincal qualities, which are great, but mainly due to his age. I simply HATE short-term solutions, and if I'm against Favalli's signing, it will be contraditory salute RVN's purchase.

todays paper:
AC Milan are contemplating a move for Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy as a replacement for Chelsea-bound Andriy Shevchenko.

Van Nistelrooy is reported to have fallen out with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, while Shevchenko is about to begin talks with Chelsea.

"Van Nistelrooy is the man we want," an AC Milan spokesman is quoted as saying in The Sun newspaper.

"He is one of the few players in the world who could replace Sheva."

He is currently the third most prolific scorer in European Cup/UEFA Champions League together with Eusébio, with 47 goals, only behind Alfredo di Stefano, Raúl, and current leader Andriy Shevchenko.

My only worry is that Pippo, Gila and RVN are all to similar.

I think we should get Adriano or Tevez. They are both different from Inzaghi and Gilardino. They are hardworking and they can play outside the penalty box. RVN is a good finisher but we need a forward. RVN should go to Spurs where they need a real finisher.

Obviously I have no idea what Milan has in mind, but I was thinking that the reported 8.4 million pounds really is a fantastic buy for such a great goalscorer. Remember, he was still scoring goals at a prolific rate before falling out of favor with Fergie. He had 21 last year in only 35 matches and 28 starts. And as recently as 2005 he was top scorer in the Champions League. Could it be possible that Milan might buy RVN and sell Pippo, who will be 33 but might still fetch a good price because of his form down the stretch? I don't know, but it might make some sense. And even though RVN will be 30, such a move would make the squad a bit younger. Then they could bring in a younger, more creative striker -- someone like Tevez, or maybe more realistically David Suazo -- to fill out the attacking force. Of course, as I said, it's all just an idea from my own mind, but I think it might make some sense.

No, thanks! Big NO to him.

We dont collect the same style strikers for fun or for their star reputation, since we have already had Gila and Pippo.

I fully agree... to get RVN is to make another move to the wrong direction, is to pick another Vieri, another Amoroso... don't the board ever learn?!?

No it would be bad to sign him milan need a striker who can move inside and outside of the box ( i think i have heard this before ) and someone that can score and take on a few players

Cassano wont be a bad idea ... as for RVN he is a goal poacher i have seen so many goals inside actually hes scored 149 inside the box for united and 1 outside ... LOL no one can beat that ... Torres is good too
