And I don't see how tearing our hair out worrying about something we don't really know anything about -- Milan's transfer targets and negotiations -- is going to help either the club or our own sanity.

If we get to September and Milan still hasn't signed a good striker, then we can say that the search for one has been a failure. But even then, I would rather wait until January than to panic and throw a lot of money at a player who isn't the right fit for our current needs (Crespo) or one who is an underachiever with a poor attitude (Ibrahimovic). For example, let's say, hypothetically, that Tevez isn't available now, but Corinthians gives Milan indications that we could get him if we wait until January. Wouldn't you rather wait on someone like that than to bring in a stiff just to fill a jersey? There are lots of possibilities and I'm confident that Berlusconi and the rest will find the right one.
Overall I agree with you Rick. The problem now is that we are narrowing our options waiting so long for CL second leg. Of course there are many options on the market (Torres, Suazo, Tevez etc.), but I am under the impression that Inter hired our two targets for attack. And I think I am not wrong.
If Ancelotti said "Ok, they'll fit in my system", the management need to move fast to sign the players - with or without CL - otherwise we'll have to hire players of Iaquinta's caliber to do what Sheva did, for exemple.
It's not impossible to our transfer campaign to be a sucessfull one - and I do believe it'll be! -, but with few options we'll have to spend more and maybe for the wrong player or wait untill next transfer window.

Exactly, that's the whole point, folks: each passing day, the necessary measures we have to do are turning more and more complicate to accomplish.

It's a club with no soul and history, that came from nowhere and that are suddenly buying players for hundreds of million pounds every season.

Where's the charm? It's like a country club for snobs...

I don't like Ancelotti, but I don't blame him for our lack of action, not at all.

Of course Ancelotti's a staunchly conservative manager, but if our squad were not reinforced as it must be, them the major part of the blame must be put Bersluconi, Galliani and Braida, make no mistake... don't forget that it is on board's power the decision to fire him...

what are really the chances for that? if he had done that, he would be the first coach under the sun who would willingly refuse to have his squad reinforced - a bit like a kid saying "no" to a new toy - and thus create a perfect reason to get fired if Milan doesn't have a good season.

I'm very, very doubtful that Inter bought Milan's top two targets. There's no evidence of it, at least. The only things linking either Crespo or Ibrahimovich with Milan were media reports from the same sources that had Kaka leaving for Real Madrid (despite the real evidence to the contrary) and message board speculation and general nonsense. Sure, Crespo made it clear he wanted to return to Italy, but that doesn't mean Milan was prepared to pay full value for someone whose skills are obviously not a priority. Nobody is a bigger fan of Hernan Crespo than am I, but he's the same type of player as Gila and Pippo, so why would he have been a main target for Milan? Now Ibrahimovic has the right skills (except maybe finishing), I'll grant you that. But there are too many question marks surrounding his inner qualities (or lack thereof) for me to believe that Milan wanted him above all the other options that are out there. If they did, I would have to seriously question their judgement.

Again, I would urge everyone just to try to be patient. Milan got a late start in trying to tie things together because of the questions surrounding the scandal, but there is still plenty of time and there are plenty of great players out there who would be proud to wear the Milan jersey.

Folks, we must have this discussion with Calciopoli in mind. If you're player on the market, after what this club has seen over the past month, and perhaps even more charges coming up, would you consider transferring to Milan? Would you consider signing on to a team with the stigma of sporting fraud on their heads? Great side, with great history, but still...you would think long and hard. Here's where most of the lack of signings is coming from I believe. Players want to make sure Milan is on the up-and-up.

No doubt the board is doing everything in its power to reinforce the squad, and doing so wisely with NEEDS and COSTS in mind. However, their priority right now is to make sure the entire organization is completely clean and its operations transparent.

It's interesting to see us all think everything is just dandy and we have all the power to get who we want whenver we want after basically being slapped on the wrist. Remember, Calciopoli is a huge, huge deal. The sanctity of the Italian game is at stake and it will affect the team negatively for a while, starting with new signings.
