Milan midfielder Yoann Gourcuff admits he is flattered to be compared with Zinedine Zidane and Kaka.

The 20-year-old scored on his debut for the Italian giants in the UEFA Champions League last week.

His excellent debut appearance for Milan led to media comparisons to Zidane and Kaka.

Gourcuff was particularly delighted to be mentioned alonside the French legend, who he grew up watching.

"It is an honour to be compared to Zidane and Kaka," Gourcuff told RMC.

"But I feel that I am closer to Zidane because my main quality is technical.

"Kaka is much quicker than me, even if people say I look like him.

"I consider Zidane as an example, despite his last act in the World Cup final.

"I have met him a couple of times, but we never talked because I am too shy."

was that on the skysports page today? They're a bit behind if they are, ch4 had that last week

That's odd. I recall seeing a story on Channel4 last week where Kaka and others were heaping praise on Gourcuff, but I don't recall seeing those Gourcuff comments nor can I find a story containing them with the Channel4 search function. Can't find them anywhere else with a google search either. You should have posted that for us.

The channel4 story was badly translated though.. so you'd be better off searching the official site for his interview. I think it was there.

I think we have overlooked Gourcuff because of the difficult moment the team is going through...

he's 20 years old, and has been inserted in one of the teams with more exposure in the world, not even speaking the language, and had a cracked rib that kept him out for weeks...

still, week after week, he has earned more and more minutes of playing time...

true, he's still a long way from becoming a serie A star, but he's on the right track...

I just saw two short interviews (interviste a caldo) in acmilan.it and you can only be pleased with the guy... he's speaking Italian already... didn't even use the translator he had on the side just in case...

when told about some comparisons between the Ronaldinho-Messi duo, and Kaka'-him
(young but established starts like Dinho and Kaka', and younger debutants like Messi-Gourcuff) he politely declined the comparison, saying Messi has already shown his talent in important tournaments, and he's just on his way... so, in a way, he resembles Zidane even when he talks...

let's just hope he doesn't headbutt somebody in the next WC...

If we can just solidify the team/squad the trio of Kaka, Gourcuff and Pirlo will be something special to behold

Gourcuff is great but IMO Messi the real Prodigy..

he certanly needs more time to play football to develop and gain first hande expirience playing teams such as Empoli,torino,parma for example this way he will get playing time and give some of the other players time to rest such as Seedorf,Kaka,Pirlo.
