Fears over injured Jankulovski

Milan’s Czech international Marek Jankulovski could be facing a long spell on the sidelines after sustaining possible ligament damage against Empoli.

The versatile 30-year-old limped off last weekend and it now appears that his injury is more serious than first suspected.

Tests early on Monday afternoon revealed that the damage to his left knee is extensive and he will be out for at least three weeks.

If the cruciate ligament was damaged, it could lead to a much longer spell on the treatment table.

There are also fears for Kaka ahead of Wednesday’s tie against Shakhtar Donetsk as he is yet to recover from a blow to the knee during Brazil’s game against Ecuador.

Massimo Oddo looks likely to play despite picking up a knock during Sunday’s clash.

Really disappointed for Marek. He's been putting in alot of effort in his recent performances for us and really we have no other trustable options on the left flank. For an already very weak team that had no depth, this is a huge blow.

Ahhhh the Milan management ahhhh damn you... look how you are making us suffer just because you wanted to spend wisely....

As much as I love Favalli this is a disaster. Serginho hasn't been fit since 05/06 and Favadinho hardly contributes on the attack and this year has performed significantly worse than last season, when he was putting in solid performances, especially in the second half of the season.

Maldini is fit to play as CD so if it's really needed Carletto can play Kaladze as left back. He gives more assurance in defense IMO than Favalli. Serginho is fit enough to play for at least half an hour, hopefully he can be helpful as a sub

That injury might explain why he wasn't as active as in other games yesterday. Not only sad cause Serginho + Favalli aren't that great, Serginho for age + fitness reasons, and Favalli for the obvious (well there's Kaladze, now that I think about it, with Maldini back, we can use Bonera, Maldini or Simic as CD's, but then again Kala is also a bit injury prone), but also cause Marek has been improving much in his game (his weakest point is still defending, but he has improved it this season) + he is one of those that usually gives his 100% on the field.

Best wishes for Milan and fast and good recovery for Marek!!

Bonera has played at left back before for Milan too during one of the many injury crisis. I remember his first game as a LB he did really good, but then the second game he was horrible. I don't remember him playing LB after that.

Due to our backline being heavily depleted, I wouldn't mind seeing Simic play, but it appears they will pick favalli to be in the starting 11 over Simic, and since Simic wants to leave - I doubt they will even consider him for the squad. Shame.
