I woudl rather have 2 strikers than a 4-3-2-1. Didn't we complain about not having enough strikers?

Me too. But considering, two of them are old and injury prone, I think playing with one striker is the best option now

From Calciomercato, the possible formations (often the right ones) ...

Milan-Werder Brema (ore 20.45)

MILAN (4-3-1-2): Dida; Zambrotta, Bonera, Maldini, Favalli; Beckham, Pirlo, Ambrosini; Seedorf; Inzaghi, Pato.
All. Ancelotti

WERDER (4-3-1-2): Vander; Fritz, Mertesacker, Naldo, Boenisch; Tziolis, Baumann, Ozil; Diego; Pizarro, Almeida.
All. Schaaf

So if Ancelotti thinks that Flamini can start, that means he'll play instead of Ambrosini ... but on this game, I would rather send off Beckham. We were outplayed in midfield and defence in Bremen (so actually, we were totally outplayed as we had only one striker ), so maybe a Ambrosini-Flamini couple behind Pirlo can be usefull this time !!

All I can think of when looking @ the potential starting line up, is how I would prefer Gourcuff to start instead of Seedorf, behind the strikers.

I would also play Bonera over Maldini, and Antonini over Favalli...but what do I kno?

I can never wish for Milan to lose, and don't know how any fan could, but that's just me...as Milan for me is bigger than even Berlusconi....

While I have no real interest in this competition, and see it as a distraction, having come this far, the least we could do is win it, and save face for Serie A teams in Europe....like we usually do.

I like Pato and Pippo up front, but do we risk our young star for this game? I think Carlo might start with $heva and Pippo, bearing in mind the game vs Sampdoria on the weekend.

Really hope Clarence has a good game...if he fails yet again, then we will struggle, unless Becks somehow finds Pippo in the box.

Did I already mention how badly I want Gorky back? Eh? What? Oh.

I don't think that is a good reason to hope an early elimination ("early" because for me we should have been eliminated in group stages with the second or third team). And now that we are there in 1/8 and that we can qualify to 1/4 finals to play against a French team, and so have a very good chance to go directly to the semi-finals ... just let's do it.
In the group stages we were OK-to-good in the league and there was winter transfer. I thought, after good-achievement to OK-result's decreasing, the management (Berlusconi) would buy players that should be bought. But they didn't. And the situation is getting funny. Our chance to win Serie A is very small and Galliani already forget his promise to not tolerate any than Scudetto or fight until the last game to decide winner of Serie A.

As many already said, the management (recently) will forget the needs of the team as the team succeed in certain competition and will wake up when something slap their face, just like we lost 4th place last season.

SO, if the sentence is true (about Berlusconi on one MM post before), this is a very good slap (and costs 'nothing') for Berlusconi. This championship is 'useless'. The Super Cup is only a beautiful dream to forget how 'bad' UEFA winner is. How can on earth a winner of CL face a winner of UEFA? CL winner should win against UEFA winner in Supercup is only because CL is bigger than UEFA, just to prove it.

Of course as Milan fans I want Milan always win, not only UEFA but also in a friendly even against an amateur club but in this game I think more of Milan as a club than the game itself.

I reply to the two bold sentences by 2 questions ...

The first one: did you really think that we would invest in this winter mercato in many players to solve our problems ?!

No club in the world does it (I mean, no big club in the world, except when you have millions and millions to spend, like Real Madrid did), because no real good player or almost is available in January. Also, we spent money for Thiago Silva to prepare the next season (and it is probably the same with Mattioni despite the fact he could be used right now), which, I think, shows that the management is ok with a direct qualification to the next Champions League ... because if they really wanted the Scudetto this year (of course, if we can take it, we will lol, but what I mean, is that it shows in some way that the Scudetto wasn't our main goal this season), you're right, they would have probably bought a player available to play now with the team. But who ? For how much ? So it is smarter to try to qualify with the current team and then look for new players this summer.

The second one: I didn't really understand this sentence, could you explain please ?

Tonight Milan channel will broadcast live MAn City's UEFA CUP game at 20:45.... Maybe sheiks started already at Via Turatti

On the bright side, maybe they will transfer Corluka and Elano to Milan in the summer

Seriousely now. I'd really like we win UEFA cup as that is the only cup ac Milan is missing. And then we get to play Supercup in august again

About the lineup: I donse see Werder passing to the next round, we are simply a better team. The fact we play Sampdoria away on sunday worries me more. In any case it will be nice to see PAto again.

If we hadnt played such criminal last 30min in away game we would have 1:0 now and play comfortable game, but now we need to be very carefull.

And plaease let Antonini play for once.

P.S.

Have you people seen "Antonini one of the curva!" banner in the derby?? Antonini is Curva sud's man

1. Of course not many players and not to solve all problems but we should solve the most important problem we have : defence aka CB.

I think, it's not because of the target (that our objective was not Scudetto) that we didn't buy in winter transfer (except Mattioni). It's either because they think our defence is good enough or they didn't have money (their target was too expensive for Milan but not automatically for other club). We were very close to Agger if the news can be trusted. Agger is not starter in Liverpool, he should be transferable. If we want, it's not very difficult (but also not so easy) to find CB in winter. Just like some said, it's very easy to find CB which is better than Kaladze.

2. Sorry for making you confused with my sentences. I wanted to tell 10 sentences but I only wrote 1 sentence.

Every year there is a match called European Super Cup. For CL Winner (like Milan last year), this competition can be counted as 'important' objective. The reason is : we 'only' wanted to prove that we are the one the king of Europe (even if we lost, the winner at that time shouldn't also call them king of Europe).

What I want to say is that this competition is not important. This is not an Intercontinental Cup. As I said, how can a winner from UEFA get a chance to face the winner of Champions League? UEFA Cup winner = the best mediocre team in Europe (mediocre means here that the teams in EUFA competition were only from middle position in their own leagues or Local Cup winners). CL winner = the best of the best or the best team in Europe (they were from top positions in their league). So, actually the highest possibilty for UEFA Cup Winner is to face the worst team in CL as that team is actually in similar standard with them.

Ambrosini-Favalli, the legendary left side combination of Milan...

Noone can stop that lucidity they posses. I do not understand why Antonini cant play, but aguess he is not old enough or hasnt been to dinner with the coach enough times.

I don't think the board is to keen on making big transfer's in the winter market. When have we ever signed a big name in the winter? I think the only reason we didn't get a CB was that there simply wasn't anyone available, besides Agger, and i'm pretty sure Liverpool rejected our offers. It become alot easier to sign quality players during the summer cause the clubs have more time to find replacements.

Actually i think we'll get Agger in the summer, he still hasn't signed a new contract, and his current contract runs out in 2010, so Liverpool basicly have to sell him this summer unless he signes a new contract. Also the new transfer rules allow us to sign him for a fixed amount, unfortunatly Galliani said Milan wouldn't use that option.
