I agree re Gerrard. I label him 'Big Engine'. I think that without his massive engine/energy, he is an ordinary player. He is not the super-hero that some make him out to be. But you must remember that the english media will always pump up their own players.

But he is very limited in the centre. He is much more productive when he is allowed a more forward and freer role.

Think of it as being more like the kids in the playground who dont join in bullying but do nothing to stop it either

Yeah Gerrards best position is definately the free role behind a striker, and with wingers either side to take away any positional responsibility.

I do think you are downplaying his ability though, undoubtedly his power and engine make him stand out but he is a near complete player regardless. He can score from almost anywhere and with both feet, he is often Liverpools best playmaker and he is certainly the driving force and a real leader.

A lot of his media acclaim comes from the fact that he has often scored extemely crucial goals, the Olympiakos one, the CL final, UEFA Cup final, FA Cup final etc and often those goals are spectacular too. In the same way Giggs will always be remembered for his goal vs Arsenal in the semi in '99, those are the types of goals that legends are built around..

Ever asked yourself why someone sends such PM's in the first place? Especialy those with bait in it so big even a killer whale would find suspicious and not bite? Because I exactly knew what Mr. Liverpool would do... expose private messages in a public forum and thus owning himself big time. He did. As expected. End of story. Or not, he's still here, probably because he didn't get the part where he owned himself just yet Anyway we're way OOT now, I won't post about this matter anymore

yes, he pops up with very crucial goals - often late on in games. He is both mentally and phsically very strong.

But he isn't the most disciplined player, and that hurts him when he plays in the centre. Rafa has tried to get him to be more disciplined....and has spoken about how Steven needs to conserve energy and make his runs only on certain occasions.

I would not be surprised to see him start on the right in the final....in a free role, where he can get forward and play behind the forward.

In the centre, there has to be tight discipline. Alonso and Mascherano would be my choices.

As for whether this is acceptable posting and not, it is not, which is precisely why Debs and I have posted, to maintain peace and to warn people who are going too far. As for the pm's, we've not actually got any specific rules about pm's as we always preferred to let members maintain that freedom. However, I have read the pm's sent to you and am disgusted at what was written. I assure you, most members definately do not feel the same as the person that wrote them. We know who wrote them, know their history on the forum, know their history on the forum before using their current account and know something has to be done (which it will be).

Funny thing is, people who make these pathetic threats on the net think they can easily get away with it due to "anonymity", so they try to act tough. What they don't realise is they aren't anonymous, and it's very easy for even the most basic hacker to get their details (or at least figure out where they live). There are instances where people have said something they shouldn't on the net and it was read by the wrong people. Usually this results in visits round to the poster's house and not so friendly consequences.

yes, i can imagine that there can be consequences in such cases. As you say, people think they are totally anonymous behind their keyboard. That is just not the case.

Subs Not Used: Abbiati, Kaladze, Costacurta, Dhorasoo.

Liverpool: Dudek, Finnan (Hamann 46), Traore, Hyypia, Carragher, Riise, Gerrard, Luis Garcia, Alonso, Kewell (Smicer 23), Baros (Cisse 85).
Subs Not Used: Carson, Josemi, Nunez, Biscan.

the people that we dont have currently that played in the match are...Rui costa, Tommason, Sheva, Crespo,stam....the rest we have not including the subs....the new addition that we have....Gila...pippo...gorcuff....i see these 3 as maybe being difference makers...expcet for gorcuff i doubt he will play..

We will have 4 new players in the squad for this final: Oddo, Jankulovski, Ambrosini and Inzaghi....

And Liverpool will have many "new" players. Dudek, Traore, Hyypia, Luis Garcia and Baros won't play for sure (unless Reina or some of the starting XI defenders get injured), while none of the used subs from 2005 ( Cisse, Hamann and Smicer) is with Liverpool anymore.

7 of those Milan players from 2005 are sure starters and 9 of them are still in Milan while only 4-5 from Liverpool2005 will start the match in Athens.
