might be fantastic 5 in january or next mercato, iduno when this was published i read it on another forum..
Milan Keeping Tabs On Santos Ace Neymar – Report The young Brazilian forward, who is rated as having as much potential as anyone, could move to the Rossoneri in the summer, however, Barcelona are also watching the player... Milan are keeping an eye on prodigious Santos hitman Neymar with a view to signing him. The Santos player is regarded highly in Brazil. The legendary Pele recently stated that Neymar could become better than he was. Sportmediaset.it claims Milan are following the ace closely but they will need to play a high stakes game in order to force a possible transfer through. Reports suggest Santos want €30million in exchange for their man. Neymar is currently tied down to a contract that expires in 2014. But voices in Italy suggest a €20m offer from Milan should be enough for all parties to agree a deal. Neymar, who plays as a second striker, is similar to Pato. He is strong and has pace in abundance. Milan will be keen not to let this talent slip through their fingers. Barcelona are keen on him and thus Santos will likely hold out for the highest bidders. Although there is plenty of interest from around Europe, the player’s agent, Bruno Misorelli, is pushing Neymar to Milan. "He [Neymar] has plenty of personality and he could play brilliantly alongside Pato," Misorelli told Sportmediaset.it. |

I don't know if it's possible, I don't know if these rumours can be real or if they're just built up rumours, but if that had to happen, I would welcome this guy with no doubts !! Anyway, bringing this player, such a talent, would definitely mean that one of our aces (Pato or Ronaldinho) would leave. If Ronaldinho leaves, that will mean we will change our formation (as we'll have Ibra, Neymar, Pato, Robinho) and tend to play with a more central midfielder supporting two strikers, or in a more attacking 4-3-3 with 1 striker and two second strikers supporting him. If Pato leaves, that will mean we wanted to build a new team and decided to finance these moves with the sale of Pato. So yes to Neymar in Milan no matter what happens during next summer. And no to Pato leaving for sure. But if Pato had to go, I'd prefer having Neymar in Milan than "just" keeping our current players without adding Neymar.

yeah i was thinking he would be a replacement for r10, because think about it. when players hit their last few years they always go back to their home league. maybe an exchange? im pretty sure neymar has the talent to take up r10s position

The guy is a second striker/striker, he's probably going to be one of the Top 5 strikers in the world in few years (like Pato ) and you would want to use him as a winger to replace Ronaldinho ?If it's to do such a thing, let's save some money by not taking Neymar, and that will also save his career.

Neymar to Milan is a nice rumour, but he's not what I consider a necessity for Milan. Also, what would make me doubt this transfer at all is that we cannot lose focus on our primary aim in recent years, which is to push youth development at the club and bring through talents from our youth set up. I fear if we were to get Neymar, then it would be a massive blow for Verdi, who looks very capable of stepping up into the main squad.
Speaking of youth, I read some of Rino's comments of late saying Italy lacks quality atm. He says it's not to do with foreign players, because other nations have a lot more foreigners than Italy. I do think Italy has some quality players (not enough coming through though), but they simply don't get enough chances, particularly at a high level. Without the chances, Italian youngsters will never develop to top level players as they will lack vital experience to do so. If I was managing Italian football development at the moment, then I'd take a leaf from Spain's books. The Spanish have won the last Euros and World Cup, but the process to achieve this started back in the '90s. Back then they invested a lot in youth development programs which resulted in Spain becoming a prominent force in youth football. These youngsters are now the stars of Spanish football we see today. Same goes with coaching, as Spain invested a lot in the development of coaches and the result is today Spain has the highest number of professionally qualified coaches in world football. Finally, there are a lot of comments about Benitez of late and how he could ruin Inter. Whilst Benitez has his flaws, I don't think it's wise to dismiss him as he is a very good tactician (actually he's an excellent tactician). I genuinely think that if his Inter click, then they will be a force to be reckoned with. His Liverpool, before politics effectively put the club in a dire state, was a very strong team that was feared in Europe and had a record in Europe that only a few teams surpassed (only Milan, Barcelona and Man U I think did better in the past 5-7 years). I'm not expecting him to build a side like Mourinho did last season that wins everything, but at the same time we cannot take him lightly. |

His record in CL may be good, his record in Premier League is really not worth a club like Liverpool. He managed to build a new Liverpool (I even don't remember who was their coach before Benitez), but that didn't last for too long, the club was alive just thanks to the CL. It's why I personnally think Inter are among the favorites but no more THE favorite to win Serie A this year, and like I don't think they will win another CL, after living their best year ever, Inter could leave a normal year again this time (=> no title) ...

Inter didnt really strenghten their team at all... if anything the team is weakened.
they sold balotelli and brought in coutinho. atm we dont know where either of them will end up as players wc or good or w.e. so there u go. then, milito was the main man scoring goals last year, could he do it again? plus hes pretty old. mou to benitez is a big downgrade i dont care how good benitez and i do agree he is stil a good coach. and finally the last thing in the way is US. and not the milan of last year. were alot stronger, if we came close to 1st on two occasions but then messed up we can do it this year. |

Actually, Inter & Roma's squads are quite old, with average age of 28.5 & 28.6 respectively.
http://www.transfermarkt.de/en/serie...ewerb_IT1.html (For this site, they make Milan a squad of 36 players, so with the youngsters, of course our average age is smaller, but that's another story.) With the 28.5 average age and almost starters older (Cesar 30, Zanetti 37, Maicon 29, Lucio 32, Samuel 32, Cambiasso 30, Stankoivic 31, Eto 30, Millito 31), they will soon face the problem of aging squad, because they are the physical side. And even in this season, after playing many matches led to the trebe and a World Cup, I think their fitness is already suffered. IMO, Milan are still the oldest, but we are technical side, and we have more young or in prime age starters & reliable players: Amelia, Silva, Sokratis, Antonini, Flamini, Pato & Robinho (I saved Abate & Boateng for some reasons). Inter only have: Chivu, Santon, Motta, Schejder, Mariga & Pandev while Chivu, Santon & Pandev aren't consistent. Last edited by Aficio; 02-09-2010 at 21:36. |

If we only take our real first team players: - Amelia is 28 - Roma is 36 - Abbiati is 33 - Onyewu is 28 - Nesta is 34 - Sokratis is 22 - Oddo is 34 - Janku is 33 - Zambrotta is 33 - Montelongo is 22 - Bonera is 29 - Thiago Silva is 25 - Yepes is 34 - Antonini is 28 - Gattuso is 32 - Seedorf is 34 - Strasser is 20 - Flamini is 26 - Abate is 23 - Pirlo is 31 - Ambrosini is 33 - Boateng is 23 - Pato is 21 - Inzaghi is 37 - Ibrahimovic is 28 - Robinho is 26 - Ronaldinho is 30 - Odu is 19 If you make the average age: 802/28= 28,64 (EDIT: If we forget Roma, Oddo, and Janku who will probably never see the pitch, that gives us a 27.9yo team which is good) IMO, that means Inter, Roma and Milan are all experienced teams (at least, for us, there is a good mix of experienced players who won everything, it's the case for almost all our 30+ players, then you have some players who should be in their prime, and then you have few players who are really young and will learn). Next year, I think a good goal to reach will be to have a 27.5/28 average age ...

I think a better average age indicator is the first 18 players.
Since unless something terrible happens, Roma will not see any first team or even Coppa's actions. Odu might have a game here and there, same can be said about Strausser. Oddo, Janku and Montelongo might play a combine of like 10 games including Coppa. To me the top 20 players for Milan, can't think of top 18, as I think Pippo and Gattuso will play a role in the season: GK: Abbiatti(33) and Amelia(28) RB: Abate(23) and Bonera(29) CB: Nesta(34), Silva(25), and Papa(22) LN: Antonini(28) and Zambro(33) MD: Pirlo(31), Gattuso(32), Seedorf(34), Flamini(26), Ambro(33) and Boateng(23) FW: Pato(21), Pippo(37), Ibra(28), Dinho(30), and Robinho(26) That's an average age of 28.8, but if you take away Gattuso and Pippo and make it at Top 18-then the average age is 28.17. |

We might still look like an old side, but the options that we have this year are definitely much much better. We no longer have to count on players like Favalli and Beckham (who to be honest wasn't bad at all and exceeded expectations). We have added some young and fresh blood in the back like Sokratis and the tempo will not go down with him in the side like it used to with Favalli.
Also, the midfield is where we look the oldest especially when we start with all of Pirlo-Ambro/Gattuso-Seedorf. And this is the area where we looked to be overpowered and over-run by more physical sides in the past few years. However I really expect Flamini to finally step into the side this year (especially with Allegri openly saying that he will focus on him much more). And add to that what looks to be a very lively, dynamic and physical Boateng and all of a sudden the perception of our midfield Changes. Because we can now make changes within games/during games and stay physical and keep running with teams. The only thing the i really hope for this season is that we finally start giving some chances to our youngsters (Strasser,Merkel,Verdi,Oduamadi, etc). Even if only for a few minutes. Yes they will make mistakes and so on, but so do the veteran players. And if we never let them play, then they'll never fulfill their potentials. For example in the game against Lecce, at 3-0 in the second half I would have much rather seen Strasser go in rather then Gattuso. Save Gattuso for a 1-0 game or something. We simply need to give the youngsters chances. *About Neymar, whether that rumor is true or not....he won't come in January for sure. We have filled our non-EU signings quota for the season with Robinho. So for any developments on non-EU signings we'll have to wait until next summer. Anyhow, just to put my 2cents in there.....if we really wanted to bring in a player from Santos in, then I would much rather have Ganso with our current team. ![]()
