ok so i just saw the catania-palermo sicilian derby..and i must say WOW!!!! it was like it was a funeral serie A cannot truly survive without chants and flags and banners and ultras although i dont agree with the whole violence but its just now recently that a few things have happened that stopped the games from this the ultras should learn their means of violence will destroy serie A but with their support serie A will flourish and iam sure that all the ultras want that so they have to make the wise choice

Where were all of that fans who say: " you can cheer without fires and ultras! Yeah, we can support our club from our seats without making some fuss..." Where were they yesterday???!!!! It was silent as it was serie C match, it was EPL out there, not calcio! Why werent they standing up and yelling for 90 min for their club like Curva sud does??

After all, the policeman started all of this stuff, not an ultra. Now they have what they wanted - opera crowd at the stadiums. I hope they are now happy when they have managed to destroy most passionate support in Europe!! Go and watch american "football", baseball and NBA now. hot dogs ar cheap!

Why is it that some of us here are ignoring the issue? Quit beating up other fans and blaming it all on the police. Perhaps THEN can the coreos and banners start to wave again in all its beautiful pageantry.

I find it quite interesting that there are those making claim that this game belongs to "the people" yet quite obviously and selfishingly in rhetoric beleive it to be only "THEIR" game. "Everyone else can go and drop dead".

Let me tell you all. I have been to Milan games, both at the San Siro and away as visitors to other towns in Italia. There were a lot of things that drew deserved praise for the enthusiasm brought to any particular game. There were however at every single game events that spoiled the whole lifetime experience. That is the VIOLENT element that is attached to the ultras. Why some of you condone it is beyond me?!!!

I cheered! I cheered loud I sang all the songs. The police left us alone because we didnt get stupid and start any beef with anyone. Yet just a couple of rows to the left of us a fight occurs. For what?!! Okay the police werent supposed intervene . Right??? Is that the rationale here by some of you??? Oh my if the police do their job that would be called violence ! So these two idiots in their melee end up rolling down the stairs takes out two elderly ladies just sitting below the fracas and you folks have the nerve to condone this ultra behavior and damn the law enforcement officials? Oh wait its called "passion" and "love" for the team and game. What is the matter with you guys!

Now on to a home game. I went to a Milan-Inter Derby. BEAUTIFUL! Such passion. What and environment! You'd think the the ultras would hold the San Siro in high esteem right? Nope! Right after the game and a Milan victory thay go burn all their banners right there on the seats causing huge damage to their "own" Curva section. Fire Brigade to afraid to get in there to stop the carnage of those who claim to love this team more than anyone else!
No respect and no love.

That very last statement reveals how stupid ultras could be, to be truthfull I am only 90%, like all of us here in Egypt are, "ultra" because the mentalita of ultras has indeed grown out of proportion over the years, reckless acts of violence are absolutly not needed except when neccessary, if I am attacked that is, and that is it, and that's how I indocterante ultras mentality to my fellow ultras who are still new.

We should not be violent mediators, but violent when we absolutly need to be, and that's what we have established here in Egypt and I am proud, now more and more people are trying to become ultras and calling for us to teach them what is it to be an ultra and not just a fan group.

I know I'm the official forum dumb@$$ and all but imho football and violence should have absolutely nothing to do with eachother. I don't care if you're an ultra, a fan, a gloryhunter, posh spice, tom cruise or the best soccer pundit on MM

With all the violence, hatred and evil in the world today football is first and foremost recreation. And what recreation is designed for is to recreate a world where the mundane and the stressful don't exist. Don't get caught up in the nonsense of it's a religion and a philosophy and other mindless inaneities. It's only a game. A beautiful game, a healthy addiction an passionate endeavour but still only a game.

Hence I support the theory of ultras but not all their activities and certainly not any that entail violence in any form or fashion. To use the cliche' "violence begets more violence". So you slap an Inter fan today (granted he deserves it just for being an inter fan ) he is going to come back with some of his buddies (or 'partners' as they call 'em ) looking for revenge.....then you are going to bring more milanistas to settle the score and the innocent will always pay for this level of stupidity.

The issue of police brutality and unprofessionalism is a global scourge. It escapes me how the development of factions hostile to the police, however is going to do any good. Again, as what happened in the Lazio-Spincter game the innocent will ALWAYS pay for this nonesense.

Fine. Then Kui, enjoy san siro as it was on saturday, as that is going to last a looong time...

If you want ultras you het what gos with them, you cant change them. If you dont want them, and looks like italian gouverment doesnt want them, then you get what you get - "calcio".

Its like people who are fighting against drug using and then when they come home they put Jimmy hendrix into cd player and listen to Voodo Child becouse they "understand music"... hypocrites.

That's a great sum up, this is my positio exactly on the whole issue

how much longer will ultras protest and not sing and chant? cuz i notice some of the ultras are singing and chanting but how long will ours will have a protest?

The level of fan singing and chanting has tramatically decreased from last season, I remember the games were always vocal for all matches in the league, not just in San Siro and for Inter or Milan, no for every single team.

I almost went to sleep the last match against Lazio despite being a good football game, and I nerely did it against Atalanta.

well now if we wanna to watch game and enjoy in 'fans show' we have to watch greeks or turkihs league or south american leagues..fans on some bosnian league matches are better than right now in italy
