AC Milan vs. Barca (1/2 CL, 1st leg)

Pirlo, Kaka, Seedorf and Sheva all played pretty poorly. Gila is playing his heart out for the team and is unlucky hes not getting the reward he deserves. Get a grip of yourself for Gods sake. The only reason hes not performing is because hes wrongly listening of the sensless voices that are claiming hes not good enough. Once he blocks his ears the the verbal diarrhea he will start scoring

yes, let's not become like Inter fans, who turn their back on the team when they don't do well...

we will get Barca at home... think about probabilities... beating Inter and Barca in the same week would have been nice... coming back from this disadvantage and advancing to the final in the Camp Nou would give us more confidence advancing to the final in Paris...

I think we all support the team in good times and bad. I certainly don't love Milan less now than I did before the match against Barca.

However - there needs to be room for criticism, not to mention realism.
My realistic assessment of this game is that we were never in control tonight. Barca were in possession more than us, and it looked as though we were playing them away - even though the match was played in our own stadium. Naturally this makes fans angry, because we tend to expect more from Milan.

The team we played tonight is probably the best team in the world. I think we have a 10% chance of making it through to the final now, because they seem to have "the X factor," whereas we don't. But I am praying for a miracle...

And I won't have anyone telling me that I am not a Milan fan, because I have supported this team through thick and thin since I was 10 years old (this is based on some replies to comments I made during the match). Saying that we won't make it through to the final is a realistic assessment after what happened tonight. Yes, I love Milan dearly - but I have two eyes and a brain.

I do think the criticism against Gilardino is unfair, he did his job today and would have scored with a bit more luck. I have seen Pippo have bad games and miss big opportunities too - he is not God.

There are two players who really deserve criticism after this game - Seedorf and Pirlo. I don't know what has happened to Pirlo, but he is not the player he used to be - and he hasn't been for two seasons now. Seedorf is inconsistent as always, and tonight he had a bad game.

Anyhow, FORZA MILAN!



And may we please have a better team next season...

I cannot post here everyday, have other things to do (like exams, assignments, etc.)..if that is what you mean. Kaladze was great...what connection this game has to Gilardino? Whe I said that my sister would have scored there, i meant precisely that you dont even need to be a football player to score from the position, where gila missed today, and not once. My critisism has its field...its not "air based"...
Gilardino helped Milan win only 2 times: Empoli (!!!)- Milan, 9 giornata, where he scored 2 goals and one Vieri; and against 26th giornata Milan - Cagliari (!!!) 1:0, where he scored from penalti. All the rest of the games where he scored were either lost anyway, or would have been won anyway. So is he such a brilliant player after this? You may insist on whatever you feel like..but I give facts. Pity that I cannot count all the opportunties he missed, but believe me - a lot!...so you may read my critisism on him or not, like it or not...it doesnt matter for me. He has been in the first team for almost whole year, and still doent produce anything great, or even good....those are facts.

I dont think that someone on this forum stopped loving and supporting Milan after this performance. We all are just upset..but actually we havent lost CL yet, so we need to hope that Milan will play better than ever in Spain and beat Barca there. Its going to be difficult, but i know that I and all other Milan supporters will believe in Milan's victory till the last second of the game. So lets cross the fingers.

Every goal counts. You don't talk about just decisive goals. You are right in the sense that Inzaghi may should have started, and I haven't even started counting those that he got penalty kick.

I am a true fan of Milan..but i dont like one of the players..It happens. I see objective reasons for not liking him, maybe they are not objective for everyone else. But it doesnt actually mean if i dont like one player, that I love Milan less. I oppositely wish Milan all the best! I emotionally watch every match. This season I ll miss only last 4 matches, coz I go to Saint-Petersburg in 3 days. That upsets me...dont think that I dont truly love Milan. In my Saint-Petersburg team i also dont like one player, but it doesnt mean that i dont support my team. If he plays bad and puts down the whole team sometimes, why should I like him?! Just because he plays for my team? No I am not like that.

No he is trying to point out that the best striker in the world also scores goals that dont decide games and that every goal is of importance.

It is possible...but he needs to improve a lot to make me love him. And if I was mistaken, i admit it..not a problem for me...but he needs to prove that I was mistaken.

we know he is and will be the future of milan, but goal drought is costing us heavily! if a players doesn't do his job he shud receive criticism! how long to wait for the innaugral goal, everybody says he is world class player, he had whole season at his disposal to open his account but has failed in spite of receiving numerous start and chances!

A lot of the posts I read today are absurd but this one beats them all, especially the first line. If I were to strangle everyone who dissapointed me at some time in their Milan career then to see Milan we would have to go to the cemetery.

Yes, Gila has been very dissapointing in the Champions League but there is no need for these posts. If he simply scored that 1st chance we would be treating him as a hero right now. I don't think that had anything to do with too much pressure but he was just unlucky, and he made something out of nothing. The other chance I think Kaka should've just taken it himself, he could have easily buried if he went near-side on the keeper.

The #1 problem with this match IMO was the way we gave the ball away so easily. While Barca kept possesion like the ball was a piece of gold, we threw away possesion like it was a lump of coal. Especially in the midfield, but Pirlo gave us a scare in the 1st half when he tried to show off in our half of the field, only to see Ronny and Co get the ball and nearly score. Pirlo once again had a very mediocre performance, Seedorf also gave the ball away too much. Stam was solid at defense but is worthless at crossing from the right side, and Serginho did not make as big an impact as usual from the left flank.

What bothers me is our total lack of substitution that are capable of making a difference. All our subs are for the purpose of preserving a lead rather than scoring. Ambro should have buried that chance, he hurried the shot.

Barca had very few opportunities. Ronny was mostly quiet but delivered when it mattered, a split-second pass and Barca are up by 1. Eto'o was also not a facter, our defense actually did an OK job during this match, I'm not sure who was supposed to be marking Giuly on his goal, which BTW NO KEEPER in the world could have stopped.

Now winning at the Nou Camp is no easy task. It is unlikely. But it was unlikely that we got past Lyon with goals in the 89th and 90+3d minute! And after Liverpool and Deportivo, isn't it time an incredible European comeback when our way? Never lose hope my friends, there is still a chance. Let's go into Barcelona and show them who are Kings of Europe. And FORZA PIPPO, we need you for the 2nd leg!

It will be hell in school tomorow, facing all those a**hole Barca fans who don't even care about the match but won't let me forget the result. I will try to keep my composure, if they get on my nerves there could be some mysterious Barcelona fan deaths tomorow

Might be....but the best striker in the world (Sheva) scores a lot of important goals as well.

Well if Gila is hurting us then he is not the only one. Gila is just an easy target. Kaka isnt playing well at all in Europe, but nobody seems to have the courage to bash him just because hes the golden boy.

Kaka just scored a hat trick! I am not looking at short term performances, gila has been disappointing for a long time. even in serie a it looks as if he is losing his form of scoring un-decisive goals
